The Messenger of Death

Chapter 270: his highness

After leaving the café, the members of the Seraphim team rented a carriage and left the vicinity of the Poduct village.

The whole journey till present had been silent. Camron, Drake, Katherine, and Gustavo were seated opposite Alex and the rest.

"Camron, can you tell me what was written in that letter that you received before leaving the academy?" Alex asked.

"Nothing much. The letter Just stated that my father wanted me home, that it was an emergency.

Now on a normal day, I wouldn't believe that such a letter was from my father. If he wanted me home he wouldn't have sent only a letter with few words.

The thing that made me respond to the letter was the seal that was at the end of the letter. That seal was unique and one of a kind, and only my father owns and has access to this seal." He replied.

"But somehow, someway, someone that doesn't care about your well-being got a hold of it and used it against you," Katherine muttered.

"Yeah, I can imagine what the perpetrators have threatened my family with. To the extent that my family couldn't make a public report to the authorities that I was missing." Camron's expression sunk.

"We should report this to the academy too," Adrian said.

"Guys, rather than going back to the academy, I want to go back to my family and let them know that I'm alright. My mother must be worried." Camron flashed a sad smile as gazed out the window of the carriage.

Alex and the rest of his teammates could see the sadness in Camron's eyes.

Seeing the miserable expression of his friend, Alex felt uncomfortable with himself and he wanted to assist him with his problems.

"Adrian, that won't be necessary. I suppose the informants have already informed the school that we have completed the mission. If we don't head back to the school academy directly, I'm pretty sure they can guess where we are going to next." Alex uttered.

"So we are heading to the capital city then?" Emma smiled as she asked.

"Do you even need to ask anymore?" Drake chuckled.

The only person that still had much of an indifferent reaction to their decision is Gustavo.

"Following that, let's make the kawataro suffer some loses," Alex smirked as he said this.

"What do you have in mind?" Camron asked.

"If we want to make them suffer losses, we have to hit them where it hurts. We have to go after something of theirs that can slowly cripple them one way or another."

"Hmmm… apart from bloodline suppression and other advantages that come with it, one other thing that the class-3 ancient bloodline families own are money-making businesses. Most of them possess several small businesses that provide a lot of income for them.

If we mess with their business, and if possible, cripple their income for a while, it should hurt them a bit.

After all, they are going to need all the money they can get if they are still planning on changing the power structure of the capital city." Camron said.

"Apart from that, you guys do know that the so-called exiled soldiers, the legion of criminals, the criminal's syndicate, are affiliated with the Kawataro family right?" Gustavo asked.

He wanted to make sure that his teammates knew what they were going against if they were going to cause trouble for the Kawataro family…

"Yeah, we know about that already. We probably know a lot more about what we're facing than you do." Drake said.

"Oh, then you guys know that most of the businesses that they own are guarded, and in each group of guards, there are one or two people from the syndicate?" Gustavo asked.

"Haha, no. Take a joke, Gus, I didn't say that we know everything about em." Drake said awkwardly.

"Yeah, I thought so."

"Is that information accurate?" Alex questioned.

"About 50-60% accurate. This started when the Prime Minister and Mayor were being framed… I heard that the Kawataro family asked many people to investigate you, and your origins." Gustavo revealed.

Alex folded his arms on his chest and leaned backward, making himself more comfortable on where he was seated.

"And?" He wanted to know what they could find on him.

"Many of them couldn't find anything, they said that you came out of thin air one day and was invited to the Avanti Manor on the next day.

Some of them created stories that you were from the central continent, from a rich family there, and that you ran away from home.

There was another rumor going around. Saying that a class-3 bloodline bearer cannot suppress you with bloodline regardless of their cultivation realm.

This news had no solid proofs so they couldn't be trusted." Gustavo finished.

['It seems like many people on this plain realm are not very knowledgeable about bloodlines and how they work.

Your cultivation realm doesn't matter. What matters in the bloodline is the blood class and the purity of the blood.'] Lex muttered.

['These guys are quite good at investigating. The information about me stemming from the central continent was probably leaked from someone in the Avanti Manor.

Then the one of me coming from thin air, I wonder how they managed to get that much.'] Alex reasoned.

"Not bad, not bad. Those that investigated me are good at what they do." He placed his right hand underneath his chin and scratched it as he began thinking of something.

"Now that I'm hearing about this, it is possible that you are from a rich family in the central continent. Did you run away from home?" Drake asked, his gaze was filled with curiosity.

"What do you think?" Alex smirked as he replied with a question. His response somehow managed to make Drake doubt the possibility of that being the truth, and yet ponder more about it.

This made Camron laugh a bit. "Alex's origin is quite special."

"Really? Tell me about it." Drake requested but received nothing but a smile from Camron.

"Cam, come on!! We are teammates and friends here. Even if it's a secret, you can tell us." Drake's curiosity was eating at him.

Camron looked at Alex, giving him a questioning gaze. Alex arched a brow in response before shrugging his shoulders.

['Even Camron doesn't know where I'm from. What he knows is a lie, he thinks I'm royalty.'] Alex thought.

['Ah yes, Prince Alexander.'] Lex joked.

['That does sound nice to hear though.']

"As you wish, your highness." That was Camron's response to Alex's reaction. He could tell that Alex didn't mind the rest of their teammates knowing about him being royalty.

But also, he could tell that Alex didn't want to release too much information about himself so this was the best way to give a hint about his origins.

"Your highness?!!" Everyone in the carriage chorused.

Back at the academy. In front of the principal's door was Argus. He raised his hand and was about to knock on the principal's door.

"Just come in." The principal's voice reached his ears before his hand landed on the door.

Argus said nothing and opened the door. He saw the principal seated in front of a tea table, with two teacups and a kettle. His straw hat was placed on the table beside him, revealing his white hair and slightly wrinkled face.

"What do you have for me, Argus?" The principal asked calmly.

"Sir, the mission we placed on the Poduct village has been completed," Argus answered.

The principal frowned. "How? Did Nana assist them with the mission?"

"No sir, Miss Nana wasn't anywhere near the Poduct village. The Seraphim team members completed it by stopping the ritual, and they saved your disciple too. They also wiped out 60% of the Ogun extremists.

The principal couldn't understand how they achieved that.

"Alexander possesses a life form that is comparable to rank-1 Earth realm cultivator. It was of assistance to them during the mission.

The informants also started something, that Ogun is not a Celestial, but a Sovereign."

"And what does that mean?"

"I don't… know, sir. But according to their report, a Sovereign is an existence stronger than a Celestial." This response did nothing but made the principal feel a lot more uneasy.

So of the calculations that he had made were off-point. And his plan of using Nana to deal with the Kawataro family had been foiled.

"Where the children now?" The principal asked.

"They are en route to the capital city now. Should I ask them to return to the academy instead?"

"No, no. Let them be. Maybe this way, Nana can still be involved in this matter. Get someone to keep on watching them."

"As you wish." Argus bowed before he left the principal's office.

"A Sovereign eh?" The principal took a sip of his tea and looked out his window.

He wasn't particularly happy with the way things played out, and also, he wasn't completely disappointed.

"Let's see how this continues to play out." He muttered…
