The Messenger of Death

Chapter 269: a crude example

An unknown amount of time had gone by when Alex finally opened his eyes again. He had passed out in the desert after saving Camron from the hands of the Ogun worshipers.

He stared at the wooden ceiling that looked quite familiar and yet, not so familiar. Alex was trying to figure out where he was.

He moved his right hand and felt that underneath his hand wasn't sand, but soft clothe.

['This is definitely not the desert, where am I?'] He wondered.

['Someone finally decided to wake up.'] Al spoke.

Listening to Al immediately made Alex wear a frown on his face.

['I thought we weren't on speaking terms, why the hell are you talking to me?'] Alex asked.

['The two of you shouldn't go right back into fighting.'] Lex stated calmly.

For the first time since the two of them started fighting, Lex intervened.

['Where were you guys when I was talking to Ogun, I couldn't hear your voices.'] Alex questioned.

['Because you couldn't hear us speak doesn't mean that we weren't saying anything. We tried but we couldn't get to you.'] Xander pointed out.

"Oh," Alex blurted out.

"Meow" Alex heard the soft cry of a cat from his side. He turned his head and looked to his left. Sitting beside him in his cat form was Milo.

It was as if he was asking Alex if he was alright. "Hey Milo, I'm alright," Alex responded with a smile on his face, which didn't last long after its appearance.

['I think I understand something about my innate bloodline. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm right, then I would have another arsenal up my sleeves.'] Alex revealed.

['Really? And what exactly did you find out about this bloodline?'] Xander questioned.

['I find out that it's a double-edged sword. It won't take from me if I take from others. Although I'm not sure what exactly the powers from that bloodline are, I can tell you that it deals with the raw formations and structures of fundamentals.'] He answered.

['What exactly are fundamentals?'] Lex wondered. ['I mean I know what it means, but how does it… you know… how does it apply here?']

['Uhh, let me give you a crude example. Let's say a time bomb is counting down. In this case, you can either diffuse the bomb and stop it from exploding, or you take it to a place that can contain and control its explosion to a certain degree.

My bloodline has the ability to remove or erase the bomb from the time. This has nothing with dismantling the bomb though.

It can affect the primary rules or principles on which a thing or person is based on. For example; beings, space, things.

That's why I was able to go against Ogun, a sovereign.'] Alex explained.

['Woah!'] His alters exclaimed, including Al.

The thought of being able to wield a godlike ability like that was mind-blowing.

['Yeah, woah. But from my deduction, all of this comes with a price. I think I faced no backlash this time because I took from others and not from myself. I don't know how to explain this part yet though. But let me put it like this.

When using my bloodline, the strength I demand needs a supplier. Either that supplier is me or people, or maybe things, I can't say for sure yet, around me. That's all I could understand about the ability.']

['But still, that shouldn't be enough for you to consider using the bloodline again. You don't know enough about it.'] Lex discouraged him from thinking about his bloodline as an arsenal.

['I know, I know. But the thought of it is exhilarating.'] Alex agreed. ['By the way, where am I and where are the rest of my team?'] He thought.

"Isn't this the café that the informants stay in?" Alex raised himself and sat down properly on the bed that he woke upon.

['Probably is.'] Xander answered.

Suddenly, the door to the room that Alex was in opened. He saw his teammates walk in, including Camron.

A smile crawled up his face, unknowingly to him.

"Camron," He uttered in relief. "You are alright."

"Yeah, I am, Thanks to you. How are you feeling?" Camron wore the same expression as Alex. Smiling and happy that his friend was here and okay

"I'm fine, just overworked myself trying to save you…" Alex frowned and paused. "Wait, what about the mission, did we complete it?"

"Uhh, I think so, I don't really know much about the details of the mission," Camron answered and looked at the informants. He gave them a questioning look.

Gwen looked at Janet. "Well yeah, no… yeah," Janet responded.

"Is that a yes or a no?" Alex asked sternly. Clearly, it could be seen that he still wasn't pleased with informants and he wouldn't mind killing them before leaving for the academy.

"It's a yes. Technically, you guys completed the mission… the objective was to survey, investigate, and solve the problems of the Poduct village. The problem that the school was referring to was Ogun worshipers extremists.

We, the academy, didn't expect that things could go down like this like things could end this way." Gwen replied.

"What I don't understand is why the school didn't specify what the mission is all about and waited until we reached here for the two of you to tell us." Katherine voiced her confusion.

"Yeah, I don't seem to understand that part too." Adrian concurred with Katherine. Everyone's attention in the room fell on the two informants.

"Umm, Janet, you tell them that." Gwen scratched the back of her neck and looked elsewhere. Alex's gaze gave her chills.

"Well, you guys remember us saying that the Ogun worshipers were getting support from a class-3 ancient bloodline family right?" Janet began.

"Yeah," Drake and Emma chorused.

"Yeah, well… if the academy had specified, the family in question might have gotten wind about the news and sent word to the Ogun worshipers.

Not that the spies of the family didn't get the news, but by the time that they got wind about the mission objectives, and that it includes the poduct village, you guys were already a day away from here.

The family stepped back and left the Poduct village to fend for themselves. If they had tried anything, they would have exposed their identity and given the academy a reason and valid excuse to fight against them.

If this class-3 ancient bloodline family had notified the Ogun worshipers, they might have moved up the date that they wanted to make the ritual for summoning Ogun. Which might have led to unwanted damages."

"So that's why the school provided transportation for us immediately after we got the mission," Alex muttered.

"Yeah, the family has a lot of spies in the academy, and they are using it to their advantage.

If things would have gone as planned, from the Ogun worshipers, we would have been able to get a lead, or at least an arrow that would point at who to shoot at.

Unexpectedly, you… emm, whipped them out." Gwen muttered the last part. She still hasn't forgotten about Alex's threat to kill them if anything happened to Camron.

Although Camron is safe and there with them, that still didn't change the fact that they hid his involvement in this matter until it almost too late.

"We don't need to take a guess at who the family is, I already know who kidnapped me. It was Duna's family." Camron mentioned and the anger behind his voice could be heard.

"So it really is the Kawataro family. They found out about the letter that my father sent to me and then intercepted my journey home. After they kidnapped me, they handed me over to the Ogun worshipers.

Throughout the whole ordeal I couldn't move my body, nor could I shout for help. I could hear, see, and even taste.

They didn't think that I could survive so they didn't put any effort in hiding their identities from me." Camron added.

"One more question, did you girls, or did the academy know how strong Ogun is?" Alex questioned.

"Kind of. From what we know, Ogun is as strong as a celestial." Gwen answered.

"What the fuck!!!?? We were sent to go against a celestial!!??" Drake's face turned pale.

"I mean I know that the Poduct people saw him as a god, I just didn't connect celestials with him." Adrian's facial expression was not much different from Drake's own.

"That's like facing another Lilith," Emma muttered.

To her and most of the Seraphim team, Lilith the succubus is the scariest being they have ever encountered.

"No, Ogun is stronger than Lilith. He is way much stronger than she can ever be. He is in a cultivation realm above the end realm of the celestial realm. He is what is known as a Sovereign." Alex revealed, shutting everyone up.

He garnered the attention of everyone present in the room.

"I have never heard of any cultivation realms above that of the celestials." Janet frowned as she tried to recall.

"That's because you don't know anything. I won't say too much on it either, guys, let's leave this freaky place. Ogun is not dead, just because I stopped the ritual before it reached its pinnacle doesn't mean that Ogun couldn't find his way here. He almost here by the time I got there." Alex stood up from the bed and Milo jumped on his shoulders.

He went towards the exit of the room but stopped when he was beside the informants. "The two of you are lucky that nothing happened to Camron, thank your lucky stars." He mentioned coldly.
