In the corner of the laundry room, a woman in her thirties and an older female servant aged over fifty were squatting by the laundry pool washing clothes, their fingers reddish and swollen like carrots. By their sides was a huge pile of dirty clothes, which looked like a small hill.

It seemed they were washing clothes for the whole mansion! When they were busy with the pile of dirty clothes, Mammy Xing and another older female servant, Mammy Rong, who was also wrapped in a blanket, were sipping alcohol, eating melon seeds while making fun of Ouyang Ruo and Mammy Qiao in a sarcastic tone.

Mammy Xing grabbed Mammy Qiao by the collar with a hand while pressing her head down to the laundry pool with another. At the sight of this, Ouyang Ruo put down the clothes in her hands in haste and rushed to them, trying to get Mammy Xing’s hands off of Mammy Qiao. However, as Ouyang Ruo was very weak, and she hadn’t eaten or drunk ever since she got into the laundry room, she was no match for Mammy Xing at all. Pushed by Xing, she staggered forward and was about to fall into the laundry pool.

Next, Mu Yingxue pulled Mammy Qiao to a safe place and asked her to sit down.
