The Messenger of Death

Chapter 304: too late to help

Just a few moments after Alex ended Duna's life, Camron and the rest of the Seraphim team exited the underground bunker. They had conversations on how they were going to cope in the competition without Alex, adjusting their formations and plans.

They realized that Alex has done a lot for them one way or another and that they had no right to try and force him to join them for the competition.

"I have to be honest about what Alex did, there was nothing selfish about it." Gustavo finally gave his take on what happened. "He seemed as if he had something important to do. And I feel as if he has been carrying our weight for a while now." He added.

"I know right. I know that it hasn't been long since we've known Alex, and we can't just simply ask him to reveal all his secrets to us, but it would have been nice if he clarified things a little bit more so that we could understand his situation better." Emma interjected.

"Or is it because Duna's family is the cause of what happened to Camron?" Drake thought out loud.

-Pow!

Katherine slapped the back of Duna's head, sending forward by a few steps. "Dumb fuck." She uttered.

"No, it can't be. I don't think Alex is the type to hold his emotions in, especially when he has a grudge. The moment we were set free after we arrived in the academy he would have gone for Duna's head." Adrian said. None of them seemed to have any type of reaction to what Katherine did, they were already used to seeing her slap Drake when she pleases.

'This freaking slut!' Drake turned and glared at Katherine. Since the day she caught up to him cultivation-wise, she hadn't missed the chance to grace Drake with a punch, slap, or kick.

"Exactly, you all saw how he almost exploded with rage a few minutes ago. I'm scared for any unlucky person that bumps into an angry Alex." Katherine shivered.

"Me too. We better find Alex quickly." Camron said with a heavy voice. He was still disappointed with himself. "Even if he wishes to kill Duna, it will have to be off the academy grounds or he initiates a deathmatch and Duna accepts, anything other than that will be considered a crime in the academy. Let's just hope that he hasn't done anything like that yet, or else-"

"Anybody else smells burnt meat?" Drake interrupted. Like a spell, the familiar smell of burnt meat invaded their nostrils.

"I can smell it too," Katherine mentioned.

"Really? That's good." Drake sighed. 'Thought this bitch hit my head so hard it affected my sense of smell.' He thought as he sent another glare at Katherine.

Noticing Drake's glare, Katherine bit her lips and raised a fist, as if she was going to punch Drake. Her seemingly violent action caused Drake to put on a forced smile on his face.

Katherine sucked her teeth, daring Drake to do anything stupid.

"The smell seems to be coming from over there." Emma pointed and they began making their there.

In a few moments, the figure of 5 huge, charred chunks of meat was in sight. There was still steam coming out of them like they were just thrown out of the oven. Then they saw a corpse, with a hole at the back of his head.

"What happened here?" Camron felt cold air run down his spine. It was at this point that they noticed that the chunks of charred meat were people that had been burnt to death.

"What the?" Drake blurted out.

"This guy over here," He pointed at the corpse with a hole behind his head. "He looks familiar."

"Really? How so?" Emma questioned, making a loud gulping sound as she swallowed her saliva. Her unconscious action made her blush a little.

"He looks like one of…" Drake paused as his face turned pale. But of course, they didn't notice this as Drake's skin tone could be described in one word as pale.

"Don't start and not finish you dumb ass, you're keeping us in suspense!" Katherine was about to attack him when Drake finally finished his sentence, causing her to stop in her tracks. "He looks like one of Duna's henchmen."

It was at this point the rest of the ream realized why Drake started and didn't finish his sentence. 'The only person that could have done this is Alex. He left the bunker not too long ago and must have encountered them here.' Camron thought with a heavy heart.

"So one of this burnt meat should be Duna?" Gustavo wondered.

"That is… possible," Drake answered.

With a heavy heart, the Seraph team didn't know what to do, the deed has already been done.

"Let's dispose of these bodies quickly, as long as they are still here, it means that the school doesn't know that they are here. There should still be a chance to help Alex. Although the academy will be able to find a few things out, without proof and witnesses, they wouldn't be able to do anything serious to Alex." Camron said quickly.

Immediately, Drake place his hand on the ground, using his affinity with the earth he commanded the ground to divide. Opening it and making it as deep as he could.

The division that he made was over 12 meters deep. The rest of the team quickly threw the corpses into the hole that Drake created. Once all of the corpses were inside the hole, drake quickly closed it. But it was obvious that there was something different about this part of the mountain range.

While the rest of the surroundings was coated with grass, the part that Drake created the hole was only covered with dirt. However, that wasn't a problem.

Just like Drake did, Emma placed a knee on the floor near the ditch and placed a hand on the dirt. She sent pure Qi to the dirt and within seconds the patch of dirt was coated with grass, making it hard to differentiate. She went ahead and the same to other places that had burnt marks on the ground.

The Seraphim team did what they could to cover up for Alex, not knowing that the moment they noticed the corpses, Alex had already been taken to a prison cell.

Adrian noticed a suspicious sound coming from a distance, behind a tree that wasn't far from where they were. "There's someone here." He stated and disappeared from his position.

He appeared in front of the person that he heard making suspicious sounds. This person had his head in-between his legs, shivering. His back was covered in sweat, and he was also in a brown uniform, signifying that he had a lower cultivation base than Adrian who is a blue badge.

"What are you doing here?" Adrian questioned as he pointed his sword at the person.

"Ahh!!" The person screamed. He was the individual that guided Duna and his subordinates in this direction.

"Nothing! I swear I didn't do anything wrong! I am innocent." He cried.

Subsequently, after hearing a scream, the rest of the Seraphim team arrived at the place where Adrian is.

Seeing this person cry out, Adrian had a feeling that he had an idea about what happened here.

"Please don't kill me! Please!"

"Be quiet. Tell me what happened here." Adrian demanded.

"I don't know!" Following his reply, Adrian's blade inched closer to his neck, making him yelp in fear.

"Okay, okay! I'll talk! I was walking…" The guy decided to say everything that happened up until the point that Alex killed the first person with his spear, and how he burnt some of them.

"Was Duna amongst the burnt corpses?" Camron questioned. He noticed that there were eight people that came here, According to what the guy narrated. And they only found six corpses.

"No, he was taken away."

"To where!?" Camron snapped.

"I don't know! I just saw Alexander taking him in that direction." He pointed.

Immediately, Camron shot in the direction that he was shown. The rest of the team followed behind him as fast as they could, except Adrian. He still had his blade pointed at the brown badge student that witnessed Alex killing students.

Adrian wondered if he should kill the guy or not. Finally, he decided not to, instead, he knocked the guy out and quickly tied him to a tree. "If it happens that you're the only witness, I will come back and end you as cleanly as possible." He muttered coldly whilst tying the guy to the tree.

A gentle breeze blew, and like the wind, Adrian vanished. It didn't take him long to catch up to the rest of his teammates.

Moments later, the Seraphim team arrived at the place where Alex had killed Duna. Seeing that the area was crowded and that were signs of battle here, Camron felt his heart sink.

The smell of blood invaded his nose. Quickly he rushed to the nearest person and asked him what happened.

"Well, from what I heard, two Nirvana realm cultivators were fighting or more to speak, one Nirvana realm was bullying the other and at the head, one of them was killed by the other. I heard that it was a sight to see. These Severance academy students are just as hot-blooded as I heard, Hahaha!" The person narrated.

"What happened to the other student?" Emma questioned.

"Oh, he was taken away by the law enforcers of the academy, something about breaking the law. Tsk, if you ask me, there's nothing wrong in killing a fellow cultivator in battle. This is a 'strong eat the weak world!'" The man mentioned with disappointment evident in his tone.

At this point, the Seraphim team realized that they were too late. Not much could be done now.
