The Messenger of Death

Chapter 284: apprehended ii

Alex and the rest were all taken to a cell and told that they would be questioned later. The guards placed a talisman on Alex and sealed his cultivation prowess before leaving him there.

The cell that they were thrown into only had 3 beds that were barely enough to contain a person.

"Ungrateful cunts, even after all we did in the capital city," Drake muttered.

"The school does not concern itself with the problems of the world, it's a known rule," Adrian said.

"So even if we did good, it doesn't concern them. What matters is that we broke the rules of the academy and didn't follow orders during our mission in the Poduct village." Katherine added.

"Even still, we couldn't have left Camron to die," Emma stated.

"I'm not saying that what we did was wrong, if we had a chance to redo everything I'll still pick saving Camron, only the school feels otherwise."

Gustavo sighed and looked outside the windows, then he said. "From what I know of, students that refuse to follow orders from the academy during a mission, depending on the severity of their offense, the most they can do is lock us up for a few months, 7 or 8."

"For a few months? The Continental competition is closing in. If we are kept here for more than 3 months then it would pass us by." Drake complained.

"That's your problem, my problem is how we are going to sleep on the things for a few months." Emma placed her hand on one of the mattresses. "There are only 3 and we are 6, it's too small to share!"

"The only real offense we committed was not reporting to the academy after completing the mission and also staying outside the academy walls without authorization.

The moment the mission ended, we were supposed to come back." Alex spoke for the first time since they were thrown into the cell.

Silence filled the cell after Alex finished speaking. He was right, those were the wrongs that they did.

But none of them regretted that decision so they had nothing to say about it.

-Growl!!

Drake's stomach growled. "Sealing our cultivation is going overboard. Without QI circulating in my body, I'm no different than a normal person." He rubbed his stomach as he spoke.

Drake wasn't the only one that was feeling hungry, with their cultivation sealed, their bodies needed the energy to function.

Alex sat down on the bed and closed his eyes, he wanted to assess the condition of his body after his cultivation had been sealed. When he began inspecting, he noticed that his meridians had been blocked by the power of the talisman, but weirdly, it looked like it was going to break at any point in time.

"You guys, inspect your meridians and tell me what you see," Alex said.

His teammates weren't sure of why he asked them to do so, but they were curious to find out why. So they all picked a place and sat down, closing their eyes almost at the same time. They started to inspect their meridians.

"My meridians all have inscriptions blocking them at almost every junction." Drake was the first to answer. "They look sturdy… wait, did they seal our cultivations permanently?" He began feeling nervous.

"No, that's how it's meant to look. Mine has the same restrictions as yours, however, if you look deeper you'll find out that your core is still with QI. So it's not permanent." Gustavo explained.

"Same here for me," Adrian mentioned.

"Me too," Katherine said.

"Mine has cracks all over them. It looks as if the inscriptions from the talisman are about to break." Emma informed.

"What?!" Drake opened his eyes as he exclaimed.

"How did you do that?" He questioned.

"After Gustavo said to look deeper, and I did, I started to circulate my QI slowly and the restrictions began cracking," Emma answered truthfully.

"Really?!" Everyone asked at the same time, including Alex.

"Y-yeah." Emma stuttered as she replied.

"Let me try that." Drake sat down and started to circulate his QI too. "AHH!!!" Suddenly he shouted out in agony and his whole body started to shake.

"Emma, are you sure that… that was all you did?" Drake struggled to ask as his body was shaking.

"Yes, I'm pretty sure."

"Emma's constitution is quite unique, maybe only works for her," Adrian stated.

"You should have said that before I made an attempt."

"Drake, if I had done that, who would have volunteered to try it first knowing that there might be some kind of danger behind it?"

"What about you Alex, what does yours look like?" Gustavo's curiosity prompted him to ask.

Alex looked at him for a few seconds, thinking of whether he should tell the truth or not.

['They already know that I possess a bloodline, so there's not much to hide from them.'] Alex thought.

"The restrictions are almost nonexistent, it as if they are fading with time." He answered. Alex knew that this was not enough to satisfy the curious minds of his teammates so he continued. "I think it is because of my bloodline, it is destroying the talisman in me as we speak."

"Oh, lucky you!!" Drake laid on the bed and sighed. "Can't you give me bloodline powers? I mean you are royalty, right?"

"I could, but the real question is if you would survive having my bloodline in you. It is not something anyone can just infuse into their system, if my bloodline thinks that you are not worthy of it then it will destroy your body from the inside. Maybe in the future, when you are stronger." Alex shrugged his shoulders at the end.

What he said made most of the shudder in fear.

Lex chuckled in Alex's mind.

['Technically it's not a lie, the dragon blood is not something that anyone can inherit.'] Alex said in his defense.

['I didn't say that it was a lie.'] Lex chuckled once more.

"What do you mean by if your bloodline thinks that he's not worthy, does it have a mind of its own?" Katherine questioned.

"Not exactly, but you could say so."

"What type of pseudo-legendary being does your bloodline originate from?" Gustavo asked.

Pseudo-legendary bloodlines are class-3 ancient bloodlines that are on the verge of becoming a class-2 legendary bloodline. They are still class-3 bloodlines, but on a different level from other ancient bloodlines. It is why pseudo-legendary bloodline users are also considered to be royalty.

"I'll leave that for you guys to figure out." Alex refused to answer.

"C'mon, just tell us. You don't have to remain mysterious all the time." Drake pressed on.

"What the hell do you know, he has to remain mysterious. The ladies love that." Katherine mentioned as she winked at Alex.

['So to make sure that a girl doesn't like me all I have to do is to tell her all the secrets I have?'] Alex wondered. ['It's no wonder Nana treats me anyhow, she already knows a lot.']

['This is why I don't like virgins.'] Al commented.

['I don't think that analogy applies when Nana is included.'] Xander chipped in.

"I think it should be a chimera, that's an ancient beast that is almost a legendary beast." Drake thought out loud.

"Alex uses both fire and lightning, which of the elements do you think he can use as a result of his bloodline?" Adrian uttered, making everyone think about it.

They started bringing different ideas and calling the names of many beasts. This was just a way for them to push away their worries, it was a good distraction for them.

-Ping!

*System is detecting energy similar to the Midas petal.

The notification popped up in front of Alex and his eyes opened wide in surprise and joy.

He was about to ask the system where the energy was coming from but the system beat him to it.

*System is unable to pinpoint the location for now. This might take some time to rectify. To increase the range of search, the user is advised to go to a higher location.

The system finished.

['Guys, the third petal.'] Alex thought.

['Who would have guessed that another one would appear here in the lower plain realm?'] Xander uttered.

['We have to find out where it is quickly and get it before those other chosen ones arrive in the lower plain realm.'] Lex added.

['To do that, you have to get out of this cell.'] Al interjected.

['Should I summon Nana with the talisman she gave to me?'] Alex wondered.

['No, even if she comes, I don't think Mr. Guardian is going to let her tag along regardless of her status to you. Save it for when you are in danger.'] Lex dismissed the idea.

-Chink!!

The sound of keys dangling interrupted the argument they were having in the cell. A guard appeared in front of their cell and said, "It's time to for questioning, buckle up kids. The final judgment on what your punishment would be will be made after this." The guard said as he opened the cell…
