The Messenger of Death

Chapter 274: the courier

After they finished eating lunch and the tables had been cleared, everyone remained in their seats.

Suddenly, Reginald appeared behind Lawrence's chair.

"The deed has been done. None of them escaped and I confirmed if they have sent word about the young master's return to the manor to their superiors."

"And what was the result?" Lawrence asked.

"News about the young master hasn't left the walls of the manor, my lord."

"Good, good. Continue to keep an eye on everyone leaving and entering the manor. We are not sure if how many spies have been placed in the manor."

"Don't worry my lord. I have toughened the security of the manor and left my most trusted subordinates some important task to take care of." Reginald bowed before disappearing.

"Camron," Lawrence called out.

"Yes, father?"

"I know that this might be a little bit hard for you, but can you tell me all that happened before you were taken away?"

"That wouldn't be an issue. I wasn't traumatized by the incident. It all began after I got a letter with your seal on it…"

Camron began narrating to his father all that happened to him.

His mother shed a few tears from time to time. His stepmothers also looked like they were on the verge of breaking into years as he was narrating his experience to them.

Benjamin kept on clenching and unclenching his fist. As the first child of the family, he felt responsible, and at the same time, useless. All these happened and he wasn't even able to help his brother in any way.

Not only Benjamin felt this way, the rest of his siblings felt the same. To them, Camron is the last child of the family, their little brother. And they are all stronger than he is.

What is the point of their strength if they can't even use it to protect their little brother? This is the first time that the Avanti siblings have ever felt this threatened by anyone.

The Avanti family hates the Kawataro family to the core now, and at this moment, they couldn't tolerate their existence.

But despite their raw feelings Towards the Kawataro family, reality is often disappointing. The Avanti family does not possess what it takes to eliminate a class-3 ancient bloodline family like the Kawataro clan.

After Camron was done, the whole dining remained silent…

"Do we have to be worried about the Ogun worshipers from the Poduct village?" Lady Ivy questioned.

"No, not really. Alex wiped out most of the extremists that worshiped Ogun. If at all there ate still others, it will be wiser for them to hide their existence. Coming after Camron should be the last thing that they'll do." Adrian explained.

The Avanti family turned their attention towards Alex. He was seated next to Camron and was relaxed at the moment.

Even when they know how amazing Alex is, they couldn't help but feel more reverence towards him. To them, he wasn't only Camron's friend and teammate, he was also an ally that they didn't want to lose.

"Thank you, once again, Alexander," Lawrence uttered. The bitterness in his voice could be heard by a few of them, nonetheless, he was sincere in expressing his gratitude.

'If only I had pledged allegiance to a class-3 ancient bloodline family before this, they would have thought twice before they decided to use my son against me.' Lawrence thought in anger.

As Camron's father, the leader of the Avanti family, the man of the house, there wasn't anyone present in the dining hall that felt what Lawrence was feeling at the moment.

He felt weak, ashamed, he felt like a failure. A father who couldn't protect his own son from the clutches of his enemies. At the moment, Lawrence wouldn't regret it if he expends his immense wealth in exchange for the extinction of the Kawataro family.

This is what Lawrence was feeling at the moment, but he tried his best not to show it.

Alex stayed silent as he watched Lawrence try his best to mask his emotions.

['I don't get it.'] Alex thought.

['You don't get what?'] Lex questioned.

['Camron is back home, safe and unharmed. I understand why they are angry, but why are they trying to mask their emotions? The only person here that didn't try to mask their emotions is Lady Ivy, but that's another thing.

They are angry, shouldn't they let their anger out?']

['In a way, yeah. They should let their anger out, bottling it in might lead to something else. They have every right to be angry, the question is, what will their anger do for them?

If my guess is correct, the Avanti family doesn't have what it takes to bring down the Kawataro clan.

Rather than fuming, they have to swallow their anger.'] Lex explained based on his own understanding.

Alex was about to say something, but he was interrupted by the sudden appearance of Reginald.

"My lord, the Kawataro family sent a courier. He insists that you give them your verdict about the matter they spoke of." Reginald informed.

He waited but received no reply from Lawrence. His lord was busy pondering on a suitable way to respond.

"My Lord, young master Cameron is already here, so there's no need to entertain their jargons anymore. Should I send the courier on his way, Sir?"

"Yes," Lawrence said.

Alex overhead their conversation and thought that sending the courier away was a wise decision.

['It would be nice if we could stir up something that can take the Kawataro's family attention away from what we are going to do before we do it. Don't you think so Al?'] Lex asked.

He knew that Al wasn't going to respond to anyone but him.

['Why are you asking me that? I don't want to have anything to do with this.'] Al began grumbling. ['Yes whatever. It would be wiser to do that. If you already know the answer, why ask me?'] He muttered.

['I need a professional's intake on it. So what do you suggest that we do to the courier?'] Lex asked Al.

Lex had to flatter Al just so he would resist before answering his questions.

['You can cut off the courier's hand and blame it on him disrespecting you. Or kill him, but killing him would be no different from saying that you're ready to go to war. Take your pick and don't ask me any other question.'] Al said.

['Thanks Al.'] Lex chuckled. ['You heard what the expert said, Alex. Do what you have to do.']

Alex sighed, he wanted to complain, but he held his thoughts to himself.

"Wait," Alex called out before Reginald left the hall. "I want to meet this courier, I have some unfinished business with this notorious class-3 family."

Camron frowned immediately he heard what Alex said. "Alex, what are planning to do?"

"I want this courier to send a message back to his superiors for me."

"I thought we already had a plan?"

"Don't worry, this matter is personal. Between me and Duna." Alex removed the black dagger in his storage ring and got up.

"Lead the way, Reginald." He said with a wicked smile on his face. Everyone looked at Alex, nervously. If not for the fact that they were aware of his bloodline class, they would have strongly opposed this decision of his.

"Yes sir." Reginald bowed and took the lead.

['One problem, we don't even know how strong the courier is, his cultivation might be above ours.'] Xander pointed out.

['What's there to fear. Do you think the courier has what it takes to go against the suppression of the fire bloodline in me?'] Alex stated. ['Besides, we have Milo too. This shouldn't be too difficult to achieve.'] He finished and followed behind Reginald.

Everyone else that was present in the dining got up and followed after Reginald and Alex.

Lawrence walked up to Alex's side. "Alexander, are you sure about what you're about to do? Are you going to involve your royal family in this?" He asked.

"My royal, family? No. I'm not going to implicate anyone in this, it's just me." Alex reassured…

In a short while, they arrived in the meeting hall of the Manor.

There were four men in purple uniform, standing by the corner of the room.

"Lawrence Avanti!! You sure made us wait. We know what your answer will be, we are just here to get your signature on the official papers and-"

"Go back to your master you vile dog. I will not agree with your terms." Lawrence interrupted rudely.

The courier's face twitched. He had a thick mustache and thick sideburns. "Are you sure that you won't regret your decision?"

"I have nothing else to say to you," Lawrence replied.

"Hahahaha!!! You must be drunk at the moment!! Good, we will kill your son in return for your incompetence. Don't complain that my clan wasn't lenient enough." The man with a mustache threatened.

Immediately, Alex's laughter reached his ears. The sound of his laughter was wholesome to everyone but the courier.

"This dog is all bark and no bite. Hell, it doesn't even have teeth. Hahahaha!!!"

"Who is this insolent runt?!" Alex's compliment angered the courier.

"This runt, is your superior, even you seniors will have no choice but to kneel in front of me," Alex responded with a look of disdain.

"Just a rank-5 nirvana realm cultivator, and you think that you have the right to talk to me." Alex used his consciousness to probe his cultivation.

"You bastard, I will teach you to respect your elders." The courier became furious, he immediately activated his bloodline, using its natural power to suppress everyone there.

Suddenly, cultivators weaker than the courier almost fell to their knees. The ones with cultivation sat on the floor.

Everyone but Alex was affected by this. He stood erect, lofty, and undisturbed. "Merely this much is too little. Let me show what a real bloodline suppression is."

Suddenly, the people that were being suppressed by the courier, felt the suppression disappear. Like a heavyweight had been lifted off their shoulders…

-Boom!!

The couriers and his companions fell to their knees. The pressure on them caused the floor beneath them to break upon contact with their knees.

"Blergh!!" The four of them vomited blood…
