Chapter 19 - Stalk

I'm working as a call center agent for a 3 am shift. I always ride a jeepney at 2:00 am sharp to get to work. I've been working in this job for 6 months now and so far, nothing bad ever happened. One day as I was off to work, I met this man who was about in his mid 40's. We were the only passengers left and he started talking. He asked me about my work and wh at time I go to work and stuffs like that. I told him that I went to work at this hour and I didn't really care about it at that time since it was our first time meeting. I then went to work and got home after that. The next day, we meet again. He smiled at me to which I smiled back. I mean, what harm could that possibly do? Also I wondered if he has the same job as me since we met at this hour yesterday too. So I just shrugged it off. The next day, I went to work and I saw him again. This time I was seated on the front seat. I can see him from the mirror and he was smiling at me again. Okay the first and second time was alright but now, this is just plain absurd. I talk to our manager about it, he said that I should jist go to work earlier. As if 2 am wasn't early enough. I decided to quit my job and pass a resignation letter the other day.

I didn't show up for work after I filed my resignation for three days even if they still haven't grant it. I've been in my house for those whole days and just lived like how I used to. Did I mention that I live alone? I moved out of my parents' house ever since I decided to work, so I'm gonna have to find a new job as soon as possible since no one else will be supporting me. It's not like food would just fall out of nowhere, and I have to pay for my rent too. I finally went out of my house and decided to find out the result of my resignation, and maybe to find a new job. I went to the company and meet my co-workers. Well, former co-workers. I went to my boss's office and met him there. He declined my request because apparently, they needed more people. "Then move me to day shift." I said angrily. He denied my request again saying they need more people on night shift. Like, are they serious? My life is potentially in danger and all they could think about is...Ughh!!! Frustrated, I stormed out of the building and decided to go home. If they won't grant my request then I'm gonna have to go AWOL. As I was looking for a jeepney to take me home when I saw a familiar figure. There in the opposite side of the loading and unloading sign, smiling. It was that creepy man again. I quickly get in to the jeepney and it drove off. I got home safely. Or so I thought. I woke up at 3 am today to a soft sound, but when I finally open my eyes, there was nothing. In the morning someone messaged me. It was weird because there was no profile pic. I stalked his profile account but apparently, it was a dummy. The conversation started with a "hi", I just sent back a wave. Then the person started typing. "You're so pretty yesterday." it said. I was confused, and so I just send a question mark. "Although you're prettier when you're asleep." it continued and sent photos. It was me, sleeping. The photos were taken from my window. I was generally freaking out, and so I logged out.

I went to the police station after that. They made me file up a complain and all those stuffs. They asked me of I had a possible suspect for this. I was about to tell it to them when one of officers called someone from my back. I didn't bother looking at first. But as he spoke, his voice was very familiar. I look at him and he was looking at me, grinning. You know that creepy smile you see in movies? It's scarier than that. I guess I can say it was scarier than that since it actually happened to me. I qualm, should I even tell this to the officers? It looks like they're friends. I'm shaking. I don't know what to do anymore and so I stood up and ran towards the exit. I look around for a cab or anything that would make me feel safe. I came across my former coworker. He asked me if I needed a ride and I said yes. It was the best I could think of this time. I sat down at the back of his motorcycle and we drove off. When we got to my house, I was contemplating if I should tell him about it or if I should simply let him stay in my house. "Steve... " I started. He looked at me but I just told him to shrug it off. He gave me his number in case I needed another lift. I just thank him and proceeded to my house. I packed my things and decided to leave this house tomorrow. I'll be going to my parents house. I was so tired today that I didn't even notice th at I was falling asleep. I woke up at 3 am because I feel uneasy. I felt like I'm being watch. I look everywhere and then I saw... the man, intently looking at me. He smiled when he saw that I was awake. I began to feel really scared that my whole body is shaking. But I won't let him know that. "What do you want from me?" I asked. He waved goodbye and left. Or so I thought...

I quickly grab all my things as soon as he left. I was still shaking. I tried to dial my parent's contact but my hand can't even press the right numbers. I finally dialled their number and it began to rang. After several tries, my calls were simply switched to voicemail. It was still 3:50 a.m. so there's a high chance that they were still asleep at that time. Talk about bad timing. I couldn't think of anything else so I decided to call Steve. He came to my house 10 minutes later. He rang the doorbell and I opened the door for him. I was shock, he wasn't alone. He was with that guy. "He said he was an officer and that you came to their office yesterday. " Steve said before I could even ask. I was dumb-founded. How could I be so reckless? But maybe he really was an officer though. That must explain why he was in the station the other day. But all that stalking was just unacceptable. "Yeah, I noticed that someone was following you these past few days. So I decided to check your house every now and then. I am here to investigate." he said showing off a badge. I began to feel less tight and let them inside. I told them about the man who messaged me and about the pictures. We tried looking for the man's profile but it turned out there was none. No pictures, not even friends. Steve decided to go to the nearest TV store and left us. I wanted to come because I was still feeling uneasy. But I guess he trust that this man was in fact an officer. Especially that badge. Steve left. The officer then smiled at me showing off that weird grin again. "You know, you really are so pretty... " he began talking. "I just wanna protect that fair skin and beautiful features you own." he hold my face and smiled as if holding into something so precious. I Don know what to feel this time. I don't know if he was being nice or being creepy. "Kidding!" he exclaimed while laughing maniacally, his voice bounces all over the room creating an evil laugh. He then grabbed something from his back and began scraping my skin, painfully. I was screaming and crying helplessly at the process until all I could think of, was blank. Everything turned black.
