[Exam Lots-Drawing]

The sudden proposal for a student exchange from Randolph Academy in the neighboring Salencia Kingdom.

Bramshal Kingdom—where we lived—and Salencia Kingdom had a long relationship. With plenty of tourist attractions, Salencia Kingdom was popular among the nobles of Bramshal Kingdom as a vacation destination.

They, meanwhile, imported a lot of mineral resources from us; both countries had a mutually beneficial relationship.

It was a wonder that we hadn’t had a student exchange with them until now, in fact.

As far as I could remember, Salencia Kingdom was never mentioned in the original novel [The Rise of the Weakest Holy Swordsman].

In the first place, since the original novel started after graduating, most of the content during Barrett’s school days—or Raul the protagonist’s school days rather, was only mentioned between conversations and shortly covered in the flashback arc.

And perhaps it would never appear in the future in the main story, either. Because the last time I read, Raul and co had gone to another continent and embarked on a subjugation of a water dragon rumored to be living in a dungeon with a large underground lake.

…Then again, no point in trying to follow the flow of the original novel anymore.

I mean, I had changed this world quite a bit.

So, I decided to spend the summer vacation in Salencia with my friends.

――Though before that, there was a problem that must be settled.

You guessed it.

It was the final exam.

The last trial before the summer vacation.

Unless we broke through it, we wouldn’t be able to go to the Randolph Academy as exchange students.

That being said, the members of the student council were excellent, so I didn’t need to worry about them.

Something else bothered me, however.

It was about–《The One Who Knows the Truth of This World》.

I couldn’t seem to take my mind off her.

Just what was her goal? Everything about her was a mystery; a dangerous person.

She seemed intent to stick to a neutral position… but I never knew when she would turn her back on me. As long as she knew the original novel like me, I shouldn’t let my guard down against her.

An invisible enemy was the most dangerous, but despite that, I had no clue how to make countermeasures against her. All I could do for now was to focus on the matter at hand.

The exam would be divided into two parts: written and practical.

For the practical, we were to use the skills and experiences we had cultivated so far to fight against each other.

The matchups would be decided through a drawing of lots which would be held in the auditorium today.

Teachers would be supervising the battles for safety, so all students were obligated to participate.

That was to say, Tayte would have to fight too.

“I-I’m nervous…” Tayte muttered when the lots-drawing started.

“It’s okay. The teachers will ensure no one’s getting serious injuries. Just give it everything you have.”

“Barrett…” Tayte looked at me, calming down.

And finally, Tayte’s opponent was decided.

[Tayte Ehrenberg VS Kleine Foslord]

It was Klene, our fellow member of the student council.

“Kleine, huh… you’ll have a tough fight.”

“I-it seems so, yes.”

That said, given they were friends who knew each other well, I suppose they would hold back.

As I was thinking, my opponent was also decided.

[Barrett Albers VS Raul Lorenz]

“! R-Raul is my opponent…”

Was this fate?

Last year, in order to make Holy Knight Klaus take him as his disciple, I challenged Raul to a mock battle, but I didn’t expect I would be fighting him again here.

As I was stunned, Raul came up to me.

“Lord Barrett! I won’t lose this time!”

Declaring war as soon as we met.

Well in that case, I would have to respond in kind.

“Yeah, may the best fighter wins!”

“Yes!”

Thus, Raul and I would be crossing swords again.
