384 – The Rapidly Passing Time

Phase 4, with heroes and villains running wild, the world spiraling into chaos…

Well, truthfully after the gods’ judgement it would get even worse, so now was relatively peaceful.

Time passed quickly.

Meanwhile, I diligently played my role at the Cathedral, living faithfully.

A prime example – the terror attacks I enthusiastically participated in as part of the Cathedral’s world domination.

…Following the original plan, I continued having our Egostream members take turns, constantly showing the world I was a villain.

Though it was staged with Stardust…

Our members did seem to take the fights with Stardust a bit seriously.

[Breaking news! Egostream is currently carrying out a terror attack at Gangnam intersection! The ringleader this time is the one known as South Silver…]

[“Wahahahahaha! Stardust. This time I’ll finally take you down!”]

[“…”]

“Ah…”

Watching Seo Eun on the TV declaring war on Stardust from a giant robot, I sighed.

Well, since I had explained the situation to Stardust, the fight wouldn’t escalate too much. Rather, this was a good opportunity for our members to grow facing such a strong opponent like Stardust. A chance for Stardust to maintain her skills too.

And it was only because Stardust was so strong – our members were pretty powerful too.

Especially since Stardust was strong against those with the Sun God’s power – Seo Eun was fighting her with pure scientifically powered mechs, which stood out more.

[Quaaah!]

I thought this as I watched Seo Eun’s giant robot bombarding Stardust with all kinds of advanced weapons on TV.

Right. Even if Seo Eun looks cute and harmless before me, she was originally one of the final bosses of Phase 3.

Of course.

[…It looks like Stardust has been engulfed by the bombing! Will she make it out unharmed? The smoke clears… Oh!]

The smoke from Seo Eun’s bombardment.

As it faded away, where Stardust had stood…

[“……”]

Her eyes looked a bit fiercer and her suit was torn, but Stardust stood tall without a single wound on her body.

As expected of our Stardust!

[Tch! Just you wait!]

…And so, naturally that day’s terror ended in Stardust’s victory.

Anyway, daily life in Korea continued on like this.

Me and other villains carry out terror attacks, Stardust stops us.

Though mishaps did occur at times.

[Kuhah! Where is this hero Stardust? I, Pharaoh of Egypt, shall strike her down!]

After rumors spread of Stardust being the world’s strongest hero, crazed villains started coming out of the woodwork globally to challenge her.

Dangerous ones uncontrolled by the Cathedral…

“Ah…Oppa, what should we do? Should we take care of them first?”

“No, we can just leave them be.”

If they weren’t named villains from the original, I didn’t care much.

Because.

[Quaaah!]

[…The villain calling himself Pharaoh has been defeated in one hit!]

…This was obvious.

Thanks to these occasional happenings.

Stardust’s reputation grew even more.

And this naturally helped solidify my position at the Cathedral.

Though I didn’t rely on her to that extent anymore.

“Then, let’s begin the regular Cathedral meeting.”

And now.

…I was once more at the enormous Cathedral where the Cathedral held regular meetings.

Sitting at the long rectangular table under the towering vaulted ceiling, villains from all over the world.

And facing them, opening her mouth with her usual mystifying air – with Celeste’s words, the usual Cathedral meeting began, same as always.

Though unlike before…

“Yes. I’ll take over the briefing from here on.”

I led the overall proceedings.

Cathedral Cathedral.

There, wearing my usual white mask, I grinned and stood up, saying that.

Recently, all of the Cathedral’s big operations and plans went through me at Celeste’s request.

…And when I suggested directly explaining things to them instead, I seized the opportunity.

Thus I had recently taken over commanding the Cathedral’s operations.

“Now, if you look here in the middle at the map…”

I summoned a blue holographic globe in the middle of the table, and began my presentation.

And.

“Hmm…I see.”

Fortunately, most of the villains accepted my command without much reaction.

Perhaps because of how I had carried myself at the Cathedral so far, and sharing intel with other major villains in advance. Everyone listened and followed me.

…Especially villains who had been suspicious of me at first were now shocked and following me after the operations under my lead succeeded every time.

Obviously. With the guaranteed winning methods of original knowledge, plus Seol-a’s focused individual analysis, how could we fail?

And so after several meetings.

I had completely succeeded in controlling the entire Cathedral.

No wonder, with me leading meetings nowadays and even Celeste, the de facto owner of these meetings, fully trusting and supporting me.

“Right. If Egostic says so, it must be trustworthy! hahahahaha.”

Especially after my led continental scale massive operations all succeeded, now everyone paid attention to my words, trusting me completely. It was easy to plan since the original recorded the Cathedral’s large-scale invasions in more detail than minor things…

…And now that things had come to this.

From noble mtl dot com

I was stealthily directing the Cathedral to my tastes.

“…And everyone. Our Cathedral’s goal isn’t simple terrorism, but conquest, right? So let me advise…”

I spoke and suggested the Cathedral’s direction.

“Don’t harm civilians. Ultimately when we conquer nations, the citizens there become ours, right? We need their trust to maintain power even after toppling the Association. For instance, look at Miss Katana who conquered Japan – she only succeeded in crumbling the government because she had the people’s support in the first place.”

Like so.

I was reshaping the Cathedral into more of a conquering force than villain group.

Especially in nations where the corrupt government made Cathedral protection actually safer, I provided more intel and support, and made the villains feel a sense of belonging to their homelands.

So on Judgement Day, they could defend their own nations.

‘…Well, the Cathedral’s influence has grown tremendously.’

Small nations with weak Associations had already fallen under the Cathedral’s control, and in decently powerful nations, everything but the capitals were under Cathedral control…

…And apparently the citizens couldn’t tell the difference between Cathedral administration, systematically and logically led by Celeste, and government rule. As expected of Celeste.

“That concludes today’s operational briefing. Thank you.”

Finishing the briefing, I returned to my seat.

“Thank you, Egostic. Now, please freely discuss as you wish.”

With Celeste’s statement after me, the meeting hall grew noisy again.

…Many people crowded around me in charge of overall command in particular.

“Hey Egostic. What were you saying earlier? Tell me again.”

“Egostic-ssi~ I’m free after this is over~”

“Oi lad. Some parts of your plan don’t make sense to me…”

“hahahaha…one at a time, please.”

“…Hmph.”

I quickly answered the villains’ questions while feeling Celeste’s glaring daggers beside me.

…If I don’t go straight to Celeste after meetings nowadays, she gets so sulky.

And so.

After the meeting ended today.

“Ah…”

I sprawled back in my chair in Celeste’s office, legs stretched out.

Seeing me, Celeste clicked her tongue and said.

“What will you do if you’re already tired from this much, as a man?”

“What’s that got to do with being a man…”

“…Tch.”

Having no response to me, she quickly turned away.

…No, from her slightly red ears, there seemed to be another reason. Anyway.

I sat there, looking towards Celeste.

Celeste.

The most crucial person in stopping the Sun God’s destruction of the world.

I had been growing closer and closer to her recently.

Now it practically felt like having an office wife.

Yet I still felt it wasn’t enough. For Stardust’s happiness and world peace…we had to grow a bit closer…a bit more…

Thinking that, as she mumbled with eyes closed, drinking coffee.

I casually threw out.

“Celeste. We have time these days…want to go on a date?”

“Yes, well…wait, what?”

Celeste spilled some coffee.
