Human King

Chapter 215: Rest

The goblins were currently running and about as they went towards their destination, which is one of the fortresses that the rulers of the southeast of the forest created to make sure that their territory would be marked with powerful fortresses.

Their pace was very fast as the goblins were trying so hard, and Dawn also didn't let their resolve go to waste by telling them to take it easy.

In fact, telling the goblins to take it easy now that they were this resolve would only be disrespectful to their spirit and Dawn knew that very well, which is why he didn't tell them anything at all.

Well, it was also because Dawn wanted the goblins to push themselves further to reach their destination a little bit faster, but it was also the truth that Dawn was getting worried for them.

However, it seems that it was the truth that good things must come to an end as Dawn could finally feel that the goblins with him are starting to get slower.

---Hmm...are they reaching the limits for running this long?

Dawn thought as he looked in front. He was trying to see if they were now near their destination, but alas.

Dawn knew that they were still far away from their destination since they had taken a stop when that unknown presence graced the goblins with its presence.

What's more, the pace of the goblins before that stop was just...average and they didn't really cover with that average pace.

That was why...they weren't near their destination, but they were getting closer to it.

In fact, Dawn knew that if he just decides to go and takes off by himself while leaving the goblins, he would arrive at his destination in just 10 minutes or so of running.

However, there was a reason why he didn't go and leave his goblins, and that was because...it would be useless if he just went there himself.

Dawn wasn't fighting this war all by himself, and he surely couldn't fight this war all by himself as well, and Dawn knows that very well, which is why he wasn't even trying to push the goblins too hard and why he wasn't going alone to his destination.

Dawn also knows that once he dies, this war would ultimately end so by staying with the goblins, as weak as they are, they are giving good protection to Dawn.

That was why Dawn couldn't just go ahead by himself while leaving behind the goblins with their own respective uses in this war.

---Hmm...should I let them rest...

Dawn thought as he considered letting the goblins rest. Since the goblins have been running all night long without any proper break at all, it was only natural that they would be getting tired.

Of course, the next natural thing to do once one is getting tired is to rest their bodies and also their minds. Although this would make the goblins 'want' to rest some more, it would definitely be better than fighting with a battered body.

That was also why Dawn was seriously considering if he should let the goblins rest in this situation.

However, there were few important factors that he had to think about seriously before making this decision about letting the goblins rest.

And those important factors are...one is time.

The goblins didn't have much time in this war as they literally have to catch up with Moris, have Dawn and Moris talk with each other about the progress and Dawn would decide then and there if they would continue the war.

What's more, they didn't have the time to give the hyenas to regroup with their monsters that are located in the center of the southeast of the forest as well as the monsters that are located in the fortresses around the center of the southeast of the forest.

If the goblins did let the hyenas do something like that, it is pretty much clear as the day that the goblins have officially lost this battle and that they would have to retreat from this war.

They would have to be thankful if they can even retreat at that point in time.

Anyways, the second crucial factor that Dawn had to take before making any decision about letting the goblins rest is that...speed.

The goblins' speed has been great when they resumed their running and the overall pace of the journey. Not as fast as Dawn would have liked, but it was still great.

However, now that they were slowing down and that they actually needed to rest means that they were losing speed on all grounds.

Dawn very much doubted that the goblins would be able to run at the same speed, if not faster, of their current pace after a small break.

Meaning...it wouldn't really result in the goblins being able to run faster right after taking a break, and that would result in their speed just being the same.

On that note, there would be no real advantages in taking a break other than the fact that the goblins would be able to take a break from the mental fatigue.

And the last but not the least important crucial factor that Dawn had to take in before deciding whether he should let the goblins rest or not is that...the enemy themselves.

The enemy, the hyenas, the rulers of the southeast of the forest, and their subordinate monsters were all pretty much everywhere.

They could be here and there and nothing would be wrong with that, but the main point is that...the place where the goblins would decide to take a rest might have some monsters in there and the monster might actually be strong enough to threaten the goblins even with Dawn being present!

Although Dawn didn't believe that there could be a monster that could potentially be a threat to him, it didn't really matter since Dawn didn't know much of the southeast of the forest.

There could be a monster hiding somewhere and that monster might even be stronger than the hyenas, the rulers of the southeast of the forest, and Dawn knew better than anyone to underestimate these monsters.

---This is hard...

Dawn thought as he jumped from one tree to another while keeping his sight in front of him without even looking at the tree that he...just leaped off from.

Well, that was only normal as he just jumped again from the tree that he was currently standing on to another tree right in front of him.

And while he was jumping from one tree to another, Dawn began thinking again about the current situation of the goblins.

---If I let them rest, it is quite good since they might regain some of their energy and they would be able to fight better that way.

Indeed, what Dawn thought was the truth. If the goblins could take a proper rest before the battle, that would significantly bring up their fighting spirit and strength.

They might actually even be able to do well that they might just surprise Dawn!

There were always the crazy possibilities, and this was just one of them, and Dawn knew that very well.

---If I don't, that would make us faster and they wouldn't have to struggle with resume with running.

Dawn thought as he began to feel the goblins' bodies with his senses alone.

And he could feel that the goblins' bodies were starting to really pull back on the goblins themselves since even Dawn who was just watching with his senses could feel how much it must hurt for the goblins to continue running with a body like that.

And while he was sensing the goblins' bodies, Dawn had another thought in his mind.

---If they stop running now, they would surely be struggling once they start running again.

Dawn was sure of what he just thought, and he was really sure of it.

Just from observing how the goblins' bodies were pulling back on the goblins themselves were able to tell Dawn that much information since it was really easy to see with his senses just how much the goblins' bodies were really crying for rest.

And the fact that the goblins' bodies were really crying for rest now...means that once they get their rest, it would automatically wish for more, which is very dangerous since the goblins might not be able to resume running again.

No, Dawn was already sure about that the goblins not being able to ruin again.

It was then that Dawn realized something as he shook his head.

---Ah...if they can't run after resting, there's no point in giving them a rest, is there?

Right, there was no point at all. Since the goblins wouldn't be able to start running again, there was no need to give them any rest since...the point of rest is to make sure they would do better.

If that was the case, then...Dawn made up his decision.

He made up his decision to let the goblins run even if they die while running.

"Let's go! Our destination is just near us!" Dawn shouted out loud without looking back.

The goblins replied in kind.
