Chapter 260: Lunar Reflection

“What is this?” Collis got slightly frantic at the eerie sight and fired two arrows at where Bloodless Bladester stood. However, the arrows only whizzed through and caused a stir in the blood mist without hitting their mark.

Firefly looked around cautiously. Her calm approach was a stark contrast to Collis’ rash move of attacking out of nervousness; an abnormal situation meant something unexpected was coming their way.

Unlike Collis, she believed everyone who was invited to this quest were the cream of the crop. All of them had their own trump card, or cards, to play, which was why she killed Chan Ka Lok quickly to rob him of his chance to even reveal his trump card.

Carelessness was unacceptable to her. This strange mist was clearly Bloodless Bladester’s trump card.

Just to conceal himself? No, it can’t be that simple.

“Ugh!” Collis yelped in pain.

Firefly turned around to find Collis tumbling to the ground with a massive gash on his back. A large chunk of his Health was gone.

Every top player tuned their pain perception to a high percentage because senses were vital to combat. Despite feeling more pain, a high pain perception percentage tended to increase their reaction speed; the lack of pain made them sluggish.

Collis endured the pain and downed potion after potion. As he did, he heard a whoosh from his side. Firefly immediately placed herself before Collis and braced herself with her tower shield in front. A screech was heard as she felt a weak blow through her shield.

It’s too light… How can such a light attack hurt Collis so badly?

When she realised something was off, a streak of red that blended in with the surrounding blood mist had already embedded itself into Collis’ chest. Blood gushed out of his chest, but the ground was free of bloodstains; the blood mist was assimilating his blood.

“Show yourself!” Collis shrieked.

Merely a few minutes ago, they were having an absolute advantage over the enemy, yet their positions were so easily reversed. Collis raged about and shot arrows in all directions, stirring up the blood mist without landing a single shot.

Firefly frowned as she glanced at Collis. He lost it just like that? How weak… His mind that is.

A clean slice put an end to Collis’ screaming. The vertical slice drew from between his brows to his pelvis, with the sneaky swordsman’s shadow still in a slashing stance. The fountain of red disintegrated into droplets then into mist, blending in with the surroundings and bringing a brighter tint of red to Bloodless Bladester’s cheeks.

Firefly hurriedly cast Consecration at the shadow.

Dammit! Collis’ screams distracted me!

Bloodless Bladester laughed coldly and took a few steps back. The blood mist welcomed him into its embrace and concealed his figure. Naturally, Firefly’s Consecration struck nothing.

This can’t go on!

Firefly felt that being in the blood mist was a massive disadvantage. It clearly provided buffs for Bloodless Bladester. Reaching that conclusion, she immediately raced out of the blood mist, leaving behind the bandit martial that was turning in circles.

After some time, she sensed that the surrounding blood mist was turning thinner. But the fact that she could get out of the mist so easily was disturbing.

No!

She could hear the bandit martial’s battle cries the moment she realised Bloodless Bladester’s intention. He was forcing her out of the blood mist so he could take them out one by one!

By taking out Collis in a blitzkrieg, he instilled fear within her. Once she was forced out of the blood mist, he’d kill the Level 40 epic boss, turning the situation into multiple duels, thus eliminating Firefly’s advantage in numbers.

Strength apart, Bloodless Bladester’s schemes and tactics were also outstanding. He could undoubtedly make a name for himself even in Empyreon.

Why does he willingly serve under Hades in the lowly city of Evergrand? He can easily gather his own followers if he wanted to! Just why?

Bloodless Bladester slowly emerged from the blood mist. As if being sucked in by his sword, every last drop of the blood mist converged on his blade. It devoured the blood mist and radiated a bloody glow.

Firefly felt goosebumps all over her while cold sweat dripped down her forehead. The sense of danger she felt was overwhelming. She had never met Mask, the war god and king of Yoda, but the man currently approaching her was certainly the most dangerous opponent she had ever faced. In her eyes, Bloodless Bladester was no human; rather, he seemed like a monster with a humanoid silhouette.

But she didn’t fall back. If falling back had been an option, she would’ve left the game from all the harassment already. Going against the tide was simply a part of her.

As if sensing her will to fight, her gigantic tower shield, Stalwart Defence, gave off a bright, golden glow. It was a Level 30 epic shield with an active skill of the same name.

Active skill, Stalwart Defence: Reduces damage received from the next blow by 30%.

But that wasn’t the source of the glow. It came from the Level 35 Paladin skill, War God’s Blessings.

War God’s Blessings: Receive the blessings of the Holy God of War. Increases shield size by 500%, effects of all shield skills by 50%, and reduces damage received by 30%. Duration: 10 seconds. Cooldown: 30 minutes.

War God’s Blessings was a paladin’s ultimate skill, a defensive one. As long as the paladin had half-decent equipment, he or she was almost unkillable during those ten seconds. The thirty-minute cooldown meant it was only to be used in desperate situations.

Firefly used it without any hesitation. She knew clearly that if she didn’t act decisively, she likely couldn’t survive his next attack.

Bloodless Bladester was using this technique against others for the first time. This was the most powerful attack he had in his arsenal.

Drako Yau must be shocked if he was present; Bloodless Bladester’s style of combat was a familiar one. Ichor Hon, guardian of the Arena, fought exactly the same way—it was Lunar Reflection!
