Game’s Dogma

Chapter 234: A Duel

‘Die!’ Players from Dragon Alliance all roared in synchrony.

Before they joined the alliance, they would all have stayed out of Roaring World’s way. Who would’ve thought they might get the chance to confront them bravely? As long as Mask was present, they felt fearless!

‘As expected of Mask, sounding like a big-shot!’ A husky voice emerged from the crowd. It sounded ordinary at first, but the voice coursed through the forest with ease and could be heard by everyone present.

A muscular man slowly walked to the front from among the crowd. The moment he made his presence, he was under the spotlight—he was the main character! Everything seemed to revolve around him.

The man was two metres tall, around the same height as Greenstone. He wore a sleeveless chestplate which showed his bulging muscles and tanned skin. Behind his back hung a greatsword with a blade wider than one’s palm, and its tip almost touched the ground despite his height.

Drako Yau furrowed his brows. He could sense a familiar feeling radiating from the muscular man—the power of a cultivation style.

Cultivation styles had mysterious connections with one another. Unlike how ancient scriptures depicted them to be, cultivation styles had their own souls in a sense, and they could sense the presence of another soul. That was how Chris, Fatty, Ichor Hon, and Oda Nobunaga could easily tell Drako Yau bore a cultivation style within him.

Or in Oda Nobunaga’s words, every cultivation style was a demon.

Drako Yau and Tigeroar faced one another, separated by a distance of twenty metres. Even so, they could both feel the hostility radiating from one another. Drako Yau could only describe Tigeroar’s internal force as a savage one. It felt like a beast locked up in a cage, waiting to pounce the moment it was released.

Tigeroar was just as surprised as Drako Yau was for he had always looked down on Mask. While Mask was strong, he believed that Mask was just a circus clown. He, who had been cultivating for over twenty years, was in an entirely different league. Yet now, he couldn’t discern Mask’s strength.

Tigeroar had inherited a technique passed down throughout his clan, Glimpse of the Tiger. It was a technique separated from the game world and could be used in the actual world. In the game, Glimpse of the Tiger was a powerful detection skill that could render anti-detection items useless.

However, all he could see was Mask’s equipment, not his cultivation style and strength. There could only be one explanation: Mask’s cultivation style was on par, or even better than his.

How is this possible?

To Tigeroar, Drako Yau was a silent whirlpool of red and blue. No matter how much internal force he infused into Glimpse of the Tiger, it was sucked in and devoured by the whirlpool once they came into contact.

‘Interesting.’ Tigeroar laughed. This is even better than I expected!

‘Guild Master Tigeroar, is that how you lead your subordinates? They intruded our city’s levelling zone, and even worse, started a killing spree. That is intolerable,’ said Drako Yau.

While he really wanted to skip all the hassle and go straight to battle, he was now the alliance master. He had to be careful with his words and actions, though that didn’t stop him from being bold with his words from the get-go.

Tigeroar squinted his eyes and replied just as calmly, ‘Oh? Since when did the North-eastern Forest become your territory? Or are you saying that all levelling zones will become Dragon Alliance’s territory when you gain even more power? Do we have to pay an entrance fee just to slay monsters? Please, alliance master Mask, we demand an explanation.’

The Dragon Alliance players all flared up at his words. Tigeroar was making a serious accusation; if Mask gave the wrong answer, Tigeroar would make him out to be a selfish person.

Drako Yau felt a chill running down his spine. Unlike his broad-brush appearance, Tigeroar was more of a schemer than he had anticipated—perhaps even better than he was.

Drako Yau kept his cool and replied with his usual cold look, ‘Levelling, yes. Killing, no. Guild master Tigeroar, please refrain from making pointless accusations. If you really demand an explanation…’ He smiled coldly beneath his mask. ‘From now on, all players from Roaring World who trespass Yoda’s three levelling zones will be killed on sight! This is my explanation, are you satisfied?’

How arrogant! Tigeroar almost frowned. Still, he was relieved deep down. Such a rash person is no match for me.

Despite his inner calmness, Tigeroar feigned an angry expression and shouted, ‘A bold statement, alliance master Mask! Is that not looking down on every guild in Empyreon?!’

He’s at it again. Drako Yau chuckled. ‘No, we’re not looking down on every guild in Empyreon.’ He pointed Shooting Star at Tigeroar and continued, ‘We only look down on you, Roaring World!’

‘Woah…’

Those from Roaring World were taken aback briefly, followed by an explosive rage burning within them. They were all elites who were confident in their strength; how could they take such an insult lying down?

‘Ohoho!’ Tigeroar was so mad that he laughed. ‘Looks like alliance master Mask is rather over-confident in his strength.’ He unsheathed his sword and radiated an explosive and savage aura. ‘Then, do you dare to fight me?’

‘As you wish,’ Drako Yau replied casually.

Tigeroar’s thunderous laugh resounded throughout the forest. ‘To the Arena then! How could we let others witness our great fight like clowns?’ He then started walking towards Yoda, leaving behind a towering shadow as he said, ‘The Arena. I’ll be waiting.’

Everyone in the game was stunned by the news.

Mask and Tigeroar will fight a duel in the Arena?

Who was Tigeroar? Guild master of the second-ranked guild, Roaring World, as well as second on the level rankings! Despite coming just short of being the best in both departments, there was something he came first in—Ranked battles in the Arena!

Many who spent their days in Ranked battles knew clearly how terrifying a fighter Tigeroar was. They all favoured Tigeroar to be the winner, but his opponent this time was no ordinary person either.

Mask, the only player crazy enough to win a hundred consecutive battles in the Arena! While he only fought in Casual battles, it was still an unprecedented and untouchable record until this day. His record in battle was almost perfect as well; the only time he fell was back on Mount Soughslit where he single-handedly took down a handful of elites from Empyreal Spire and Dark World.

Everyone was shocked that a duel between two players, both renowned for their unparalleled strength, was taking place soon.

A while later, Tigeroar left a number on the global channel. It was a room number in the Arena. However, it was set to private, meaning only the opponent could enter.

Apart from Mask, would anyone dare to challenge Tigeroar to a duel? Being first on the Ranked battles ranking wasn’t merely a title—it entailed glory and reputation, gained bit by bit, battle by battle.
