Chapter 233: Battle of the North-eastern Forest

The next day, Drako Yau went to the scrollcrafter instructor to see what new scrolls he could craft at Level 4.

Thankfully, all subclasses had their worth and none were useless. While Scrollcrafter was a subclass that burnt through money, it also had its unique traits.

Take the Smokescreen Scroll he learnt from clearing John’s Secret Chamber as an example, it was a scroll that released a dense cloud of smoke upon use, allowing the player to escape. Its effect was no different from the Assassin skill, Smoke Bomb. However, scrolls could be used without any mana consumption and cast time; a scroll’s effects manifested upon being torn apart.

Drako Yau had a look at his choices at Level 4. Only two were useful.

‘Purification Scroll: Removes all negative ailments and debuffs.’ It was derived from the Cleric skill, Purify.

‘Agility Scroll: Increases movement speed by 10 per cent for 10 minutes.’

He was relieved that useful scrolls finally showed themselves at Level 4. After all, he had spent six digits on scrollcrafting, an unaffordable sum by many. Not that he was short of money though; Yoda’s prosperity was netting him a good amount because of his position.

After the battle with John, Drako Yau was more determined to repair Tattered Armour. The deadweight had suddenly saved his life! He would’ve died to John’s palm strike if not for the sudden barrier, and he would never have lived to breakthrough his technique in Dragon Seeker.

For that reason, he was treating Tattered Armour better lately, but he felt that the protective barrier used up all the experience it had been leeching for the past few months. He wasn’t going to complain about it either; trading experience for his life was easily worth it.

As he levelled up his subclass, he also instructed his subordinates to stay on the lookout for Holy Blessing Scrolls.

‘Once you see one, get your hands on it no matter the cost.’

‘Bro, you there? I know I haven’t been too well to you before… Hah…’

No matter what Drako Yau said, Tattered Armour gave no response. He could feel that it wasn’t deliberately ignoring him, but rather, it seemed to be hibernating like how it used to be when he had first received it.

Guess it’s time to go levelling, Drako Yau thought.Strength was what mattered most after all.

Drako Yau looked at his friend list. Strangely enough, Danting was offline when it was supposed to be his shift. He shook his head. Well, whatever.

Just as he was about to head out, he saw a message in the alliance channel that read, ‘We’re fighting at the North-eastern Forest, it’s Roaring  World! More of them are arriving!’

Drako Yau’s face fell. Roaring World?

‘???: What happened?’

As he was wearing his mask, his name was hidden and only displayed as ???. The alliance also forbade anyone from speaking in the alliance channel anonymously to avoid confusion, though Drako Yau’s golden title before his name showed that he was the alliance master anyway.

Drako Yau called over his companions who were online. Together with Sasaki, Greenstone, and Windstrider, they headed for the North-eastern Forest.

It turned out that Roaring World was engaging a guild under Dragon Alliance, Enjoy The Game. As their name implied, players in the guild were simply enjoying the game and focused on their subclasses instead. Their main levels weren’t high, but they were a crucial part of Yoda; only with such players could Yoda maintain its status as a commercial hub.

Yoda’s supply of items such as potions, scrolls, and poison ranked best among the three cities. To craft such items, members of Enjoy The Game entered the North-eastern Forest in search of the materials they needed. The forest was a sub-Level 20 zone with weak monsters; they had never expected to encounter members of Roaring World, a top guild.

The two guilds quarrelled and ended up fighting. As players who focused on subclasses, they were naturally no match for a first-rate combat-oriented guild like Roaring World. The battle ended in the annihilation of Enjoy The Game players, including their guild master.

The guild master sent a request for aid immediately after he was slain. This was the first time someone had made such a request since Dragon Alliance was established!

The entire alliance started turning like a series of gears. They didn’t send too many players, but they were led by Drako Yau personally as they rushed over to the North-eastern Forest.

While they were on their way, Drako Yau considered the possibilities. There were several sub-Level 20 zones next to every city. Levelling zones designed to be shared among all three cities only appeared after Level 20, which was the Highlands of John.

Roaring World was a guild based in Empyreon. They had their share of sub-Level 20 zones next to the city, so why would they travel all the way to the North-eastern Forest near Yoda? And they coincidentally started a brawl with players from Dragon Alliance?

Drako Yau had many questions in his mind, but he knew one thing—he had to deal with it in person. This was the first time Dragon Alliance was challenged head-on. If they couldn’t wrap it up with a remarkable win, the alliance would fall apart on its own.

Soon, they saw around fifty players ahead of them. They chatted and laughed merrily as they fought monsters while pointing at the corpses on the ground. Drako Yau saw that every one of them had the emblem of a roaring tiger on their shoulders—it was certain they were from Roaring World.

The corpses on the ground belonged to players who were killed but didn’t press respawn. Seeing that the Roaring World players were trampling over his deceased alliance members, Drako Yau said coldly, ‘Kill them!’

‘Rahhh!’

The Roaring World players were all dead before they could react. With a thousand against fifty, the fight was as one-sided as one might have expected. It wouldn’t have mattered even if they had been Level 40.

After killing the enemies, Drako Yau stayed in the forest, standing there in silence.

Regardless of how it started, what’s done is done. There is no return now. Roaring World… So it’s Tigeroar?

Drako Yau sent a chilly gaze through the forest; he hadn’t forgotten about the ambush outside Old Florist’s store just yet.

Let’s settle our grudges right here right now, old and new alike!

It didn’t take long for Roaring World’s main army to arrive at the forest.

Roaring World, ranked second on the guild rankings! Their average player level was Level 35, higher than Drako Yau himself! Such was the strength of a first-rate guild.

Thousands of players entered a standstill. Players from Dragon Alliance flooded towards the forest, and they numbered over 3,000 by the time Roaring World’s army arrived.

Both armies had their weapons ready. Drako Yau glared at the Roaring World players who were eager to strike and proclaimed, ‘Come close and you’re dead.’

His voice was like the autumn gale, sweeping across the land, leaving not a single leaf behind.
