11. What an Unreasonable Young Lady!

Translator: Snowball

A brief description of what had happened the other day petrified Ouyang Ruo. “Thank God!” Ouyang Ruo repeated with her heart pounding.

“Are your injuries serious? Do you need me to get you a doctor?”

“I’m fine. The scabs have formed on them.”

“Alas! I never thought that Mu Xiangqin would have been so ruthless at such a young age. She deserves her downfall, but you must be careful and never let others find out that you’re the one behind all this.”

Letting out of sigh, Ouyang Ruo reminded in a low voice.

“Ying’er, I know you’re much more capable now, but you must be cautious and ensure your own safety.”

“Mom, not only will I keep myself safe, I’ll protect Liu’er, Mammy Qiao and you as well.”

Ouyang Ruo tucked a thread of Mu’s hair behind her ear while staring at her in a daze. “I’m getting old and there’s no flying from my fate. You’re the only person in the world that I care about, so as long as you stay safe, I’ll have no regrets even if I die.”

It was already dusk when she came out of Ouyang Ruo’s room. From the gray sky, Mu Yingxue could tell it was going to snow heavily at night. When she approached her own room, she suddenly stopped and began to scan around through the door the area behind the beaded curtain and the screen with her X-ray eyes.

After entering the room, Mu Yingxue sat down by the table in front of the beaded curtain, poured a cup of tea for herself and then emptied it.

Suddenly, with a wave of her hand, a whir of wind sprang up, which lifted the beaded curtain in the middle before she kicked the screen away. She then bent her fingers into a claw and was about to grab Nongyue’s shoulder.

Nongyue, who had been hiding behind the screen, jumped to the left and dodged Mu Yingxue’s attack as soon as she touched his clothes. He then turned swiftly and landed behind her.

After successfully dodging Mu Yingxue’s aggressive attack, Nongyue roared angrily, “What an unreasonable woman! Why do you have to attack me every time you see me? Can’t we just have a word in peace?”

“I don’t think I need to reason with you!”

Mu Yingxue turned and stretched her leg to kick Nongyue before she straightened her fingers and aimed at his chest. Though Nongyue had a profound cultivation base and was good at Qing Kung, he couldn’t give full swing to his skills inside the room. As he didn’t want to injure Mu Yingxue either, he summoned his energy inside to protect his heart and meridians and was about to take Mu Xueyan’s blow without resisting.

Though the look in her eyes was still grim, Mu Yingxue’s heart softened at this critical moment. She drew back some of her strength and slapped Nongyue on the right side of his chest.

Under the impact of the blow, Nongyue staggered a few steps backward and collapsed onto the chair. “You… You machine! After all, I was the one who saved your life. Even if you don’t want to return the favor, you shouldn’t have bitten the hand that fed you at least!” he cried, rubbing his chest after a violent fit of coughing.

Drawing her hand back, Mu Yingxue flicked her sleeve and retorted, “If I were that kind of person, my nails would have pierced your neck by then.”

Hearing that, Nongyue became even more depressed. “So that’s how you repay my kindness?”

With a snort, Mu Yingxue continued with a meaningful stare, “Your kindness? I don’t think you’ve done anything for me out of kindness.”

Nongyue almost coughed a mouthful of blood at her words. “Good for you! Isn’t it a favor that I saved your life? Isn’t it a favor that I cleaned the mess up for you after your wholesale slaughter?”

“Ha! Don’t tell me you happened to pass by the woods on the hill and erased the traces I had left incidentally!”

“I… Of course I was just a passer-by…” Nongyue murmured.

“I have asked my maid, and from what she told me, I can deduce that the time gap between the moment I lost my consciousness and the time I was sent home was about 15 minutes. I don’t believe a passer-by would have known that I was Marquis’ Mu’s daughter and sent me back in such a short time. Moreover, as a stranger, how did you know Mu Xiangqin and Song Qingyun were having an affair in the hut, and manage to set up the scene after their death?”

Seeing that his trick had been laid bare, Nongyue’s expression turned serious. He rose to his feet and began to pace about in the room, which made Mu Yingxue instantly feel the atmosphere grow tense and even the temperature in the room seemed to have dropped. “This man is really dangerous!” she thought.

Nongyue approached Mu Yingxue slowly. “It seems you’ve seen me through. I never expected that Marquis Mu’s retarded fourth daughter was actually such a quick-witted girl! I’m sure you’ve not only made fools of people in your mansion, but also everyone else in the world,” he said coolly.

Needless to say, Nongyue was deceived as well, which almost resulted in his wrong decision of handing this critical person over to his enemy.

With no intention to continue their conversation, Mu Yingxue asked ironically, “Now that you’ve found out the skeleton in my cupboard, why don’t you spill the beans right away?”

After a short pause, Nongyue chuckled, which relieved the tension in an instant.

“I’m not silly. What’s more, whether you’re a moron or not has nothing to do with me.”

“Then what are you doing here?”

“Since I have saved your life, of course I’m here for my reward.”

“Reward? You’re being ridiculous! As the Lord of the Triumphant Sect, I assume you have business all over the country. How could you possibly have come for a reward from me?”

Hearing that, Nongyue smoothed his clothes, trying to make himself look more graceful. “That’s true! But I have a lot of people to support, so even though I’m the Lord of the Triumphant Sect, I have to make as much as I can.”

“Then what do you want from me?” Mu Yingxue asked in a playful tone.

Nongyue lowered his head, leaned his half-masked face toward Mu Yingxue slowly and didn’t stop until the distance between his clean, delicate chin and Mu Yingxue’s tender lips was only about the width of a finger.

Sensing his warm breath, Mu Yingxue felt the atmosphere between them grow dubious. “Will it be inappropriate if I say I want you?” Nongyue asked.
