A Dragon That My Cat Brought Home

Chapter 19: Dragon and, tiger?

I re-read what I was writing. This time, I want to write something good and contact Director Yoo first, who I haven't been in touch with for almost a year.

Director Yoo Hyun-wook was the editor in charge of Silver Books, which published my first novel. From the time he first picked up the manuscript to publication, he was at times warm and sometimes poignant, encouraging and pointing out, helping the novice fantasy novelist.

After that, he met several representatives, but none of them was as good as Director Yoo. Not only when my novels went well, but even after I fell into a slump, only Director Yoo continued to contact me and encouraged me. However, due to my lack of writing skills, I have not been answering his calls as I was not writing welll.

The novel ‘The Cat With Hidden Powers', published at the end of the year contest, was written after a long time that I liked, so it seemed like it could be an opportunity to get out of the swamp of sluggishness that had hit the bottom. Now that I have regained some of the confidence I had lost, I want to write a more powerful article and confidently visit Director Yoo.

I made up my mind again and started writing. As expected, this story is different from when I imagined it in my head that it is somewhat frustrating, and it wasn’t working out. It seems that more research is needed, so should I put it off for a while and try something else for a change?

I put stopped the hunter stuff I was using and started looking at the storyline of the dragon and the tiger as simply as I had in my head when I saw the blue dragon and the white tiger a while ago.

It's not bad, but I felt like it was lacking something while I was thinking and plotting the story with the traditional four-way gods of Blue Dragon, White Tiger, Phoenix, and Black tortoise. It seems a bit boring, and it feels like the fresh taste is not enough. Do you have any new ideas?

As I was contemplating this and that, I woke up thinking that I should refer to the book I had borrowed a while ago.

“Pyyow!”

Oh man, I forgot my little one was on his lap. Sorry.

The blue dragon, who fell from his lap, curled up on the floor, glanced at me once with a pitiful expression, and then fell on Baek-ho's side and buried his face. I smiled looking at the blue dragon and the white tiger, then sat down again. You don't even have to look for the material, right? We have live models in the house.

How about writing a story about the encounter between a Western fantasy dragon and an Eastern white tiger? A blue dragon from another world and a silver tiger who hid his identity and lived as a cat.

"What do you think? Guys. It’s a story based on you guys.”

Blue Dragon blinked his eyes and cried as if cheering, but Baek-ho yawned and turned his head away.

“Ah, of course, you are not a tiger, Baek-ho. But dragons and cats don't match each other. Dragons and tigers have to match, so we have to tolerate that kind of adaptation.”

After stroking Baek-ho’s hair, I started writing. The story unfolds smoothly because it started with the children of our house as a motif and started without any burden. Is this more fun than you think? It feels like I started writing on a whim, but I think a surprisingly good story will come out.

I diligently tapped the keys to catch the idea that popped into my head before it disappeared.

After a while, I raised my head and was surprised. How many hours did I spend It's already afternoon.

I didn't realize how much time had passed since I was writing along the stream of consciousness without the pain of squeezing my hair in the middle of writing.

I save what I wrote and got up, of course, knowing that my arms and legs would ache, so I stood up carefully, but there was no pain. I've been sitting for so long, and it was amazing. I skipped breakfast and lunch and I'm not hungry.

Blue Dragon wept bitterly as if it had just ended.

Both of them stayed behind my back the whole time I was writing, without disturbing me. Thanks to that, it's nice to have my back warm. I need to eat quickly and play with you a little.

After having a quick lunch and recharging my energy, I started shaking the fishing rod at the blue dragon and the white tiger. Fishing rod toys with elastic cords tied to the ends of the rods with models of feathers, rats, fish, or cricket dragonfly at the end are a favorite and a favorite of most cats.

Baek-ho has a very gentle nature, and now he is a middle-aged cat, so even if I shake the fishing rod, he does not jump and chase like he did when he was young. He just looks at it as if it is hunting for prey, and quickly grabs the model attached to the end.

The blue dragon goes crazy like a pup, jumps and flutters, runs somersaults, chasing the end of a fishing line, and when he accidentally catches it, he roars with excitement and likes it.

Again, even with the same fishing rod, the reaction of the person who shakes it varies greatly. The mobile phone rang while dazzlingly rocking the fishing rod with the skillful workmanship of a companion who had been trained for many years.

Ring Ring!

This is Yuri, the general secretary of the bookmark group.

“Oh, Yuri.”

“Myung-hoon, how are you? New Year's Eve is already gone. Should we have a New Year's meeting?"

“Oh yeah, that’s already happened. I can make time when possible, so ask the others first.”

“I called because you didn’t see the chat room, and all the other kids talked in the chat room. Now, only you and Pyeong-seok need to set the date.”

Oh, I didn't even hear the notification because I was concentrating.

Han Kyung-seok glanced at the calendar on his cell phone. You just hung up Yuri's phone. Every year, around the end of January, we had a New Year's meeting for bookmarks, but this year, everyone didn't have time, so we decided to move it to February.

In early February, the results of the fantasy novel contest will be announced. Did you say that Myung-hoon applied? Kyung-soo smiled bitterly. It's a cat novel, isn't it absurd? You didn't even analyze the trend, how did you come up with the idea to use that material in a contest? Yeon Myung-hoon, who was good at writing since high school, was in a slump for a while, but now it's definitely gone.

Perhaps, at this bookmark meeting, Myung-hoon might bring news that will put him in his place. Believing that it would be so, Pyeong-seok checked the date of the appointment.

On one side of the veterinary hospital, there were several dog treats, toys, and wrapped gift boxes.

“Sister, are all these for Ray?”

“Yes, the people who saw the article sent it to Rey. Although the name of the hospital was not mentioned in the article, some people found out how to send it, and others sent it to a newspaper or broadcasting station and sent it to us from there. There was also a call to help with hospital expenses, but Ray’s guardian politely declined it.”

“How is Ray?”

“It has improved a lot. Although the sky did not recover overnight as it was at the time, the recovery is quite quick compared to the injury and the condition is good.”

My sister beckoned me to come into the treatment room.

“As for Blue Dragon, although he is still clumsy, he seems to be able to control his power. In the case of sky, his life was in danger, so it must have been so hard that even the blue dragon was exhausted. I think Rey gave me enough strength to help him recover.”

Come to think of it, I wondered if the reason why I feel much less fatigued than before when writing is because Blue Dragon helps me little by little.

“By the way, the madman hasn’t been caught yet, has he?”

“Yea I wonder when that will happen. I don't know why he hasn't been caught yet. It’s making me anxious.”
