Chapter 23: Skill Selection

When I got back home, I promptly thought about which skills I should choose_But before that, I needed to decide which dungeon I should challenge next. Because it would be more efficient to select the skills suitable for the dungeon I decide to capture next.

“Well, considering my current level, I should capture C-rank dungeons next.”

If it’s the least difficult C-rank dungeon, only level 300 is recommended for solo capture which was more than enough for my current level.

That’s why I was searching for a C-rank dungeon that was within reach from my home and suitable for my current level. And I have one rule when choosing a dungeon. It is to avoid a dungeon where there are monsters that have attacks with abnormal conditions.

Abnormal conditions are a natural enemy to a solo adventurer. Because there was a risk of getting killed even by a monster weaker than you if you got paralyzed. If anything, fighting a large number of monsters was easier than that.

Even though having a high mental strength in the status can resist abnormal conditions to some extent, it’s not that omnipotent.

If it’s the hypnosis from Yumemi Dungeon boss, Harpy, it can be resisted with some effort but I can’t imagine what would happen if it’s C-rank monsters.

Although there is a skill that can make us have resistance against abnormal conditions—[Abnormal Condition Resistance], at this point I am having a sense of resistance to take this skill.

Because I have continuously poured my SP into the skills that weren’t directly related to combat such as [Transfer Within Dungeon], [Appraisal], and [Item Box]. That’s why, right now I am just going to obediently choose the skills useful in combat.

And then, I found a suitable dungeon while thinking about that.

“Kenzaki Dungeon—This is it!”

C-Rank dungeon—[Kenzaki Dungeon]

The recommended level for solo capture in this dungeon is a little higher than level 500.

Although there are various monsters that appeared in this dungeon, it was the perfect place to hone one’s fighting skills because all monsters are the type that fights head-on.

As the next dungeon to capture has been decided, next are skills. I want to choose the skills to put to good use in Kenzaki Dungeon.

My fighting style is basically hit and run. It is a style that basically is centered on avoiding the enemy’s attack rather than withstanding it. Therefore, I think there is no need to select [Perseverance] which increases my endurance.

Which means, I needed to select [Herculean Strength] that would increase my strength and [High-Speed Movement] that would increase my agility.

After taking [Herculean Strength], I promptly raised its level to Lv 4 and also raised the level of [High-Speed Movement] from Lv3 → Lv4. With this, I have used 1400 SP and now have only 910 SP remaining.

I needed to acquire [Swords Mastery] or [Dagger Mastery] if I wanted to quickly raise my fighting ability, however…

“Honestly, I haven’t even decided which one to use as my main weapon.”

Certainly, I do use a dagger as my main weapon nowadays but it’s not always the case in the past. For example, even though I have also used a dagger when I just became an adventurer, I changed it to a longsword because of how low its attack power was.

However, ever since I obtained an excellent dagger as a bonus reward for capturing Yumemi Dungeon solo, I have been using Yumemi Dagger since then.

Depending on my choice in the future, there was a chance it would be a waste if I chose [Sword Mastery] or [Dagger Mastery] right now. That’s why I think it’s not necessary to take one of them right now.

“Therefore, should I use my SP for Scouting or Stealth? Raise the level of my current skill?… Or maybe think about it again after capturing the dungeon?”

For the time being, the deed of thinking about my plan for the future and allocating SP are over. And I am so thrilled even now because the next dungeon that I’m going to challenge is my first C-rank dungeon.
