60 The Temple of Light

Jake dashed through the streets and eventually stopped in front of what seemed like a church. There was a cross out in the front, and a large crowd of NPCs were going in and out.

Jake also went in, and the inside wasn't as shabby as the outside looked. Light filled the temple, and the first thing that Jake saw was a statue.

A statue of a large, heroic looking man who had a sword in his hands, and that sword felt blinding.

"The God of Light, holding a sword. Kinda stupid." Jake thought to himself as he looked around. There were countless priests and priestesses walking around.

But none of them could help him right now. He had to go to the priestess in the very front for that. This woman looked divine. Wearing the clothing of a nun still couldn't suppress her glorious beauty, and her resplendent face.

When Jake approached her, she smiled at him gently.

"What do you want, young warrior? Do you wish to become stronger? The test to become stronger is one that is hard to take." the priestess said.

"Nope. I will need a few more preparations before getting to the second tier. I am not going to go down that route so fast. I need your help with a little something else." Jake asked as he took out his rusty pole.

"That is an interesting item that you have in your hands, Young Warrior." the priestess nodded.

"I hope that you can unlock its secrets for me."

"To do that, the God of Light needs an offering. The church seems to have a few cracks."

"How much do you want?"

"One gold coin."

"That expensive?" Jake's eyebrow went up. It usually took a few silvers at best to appraise an artifact, but to think that it would take a gold coin for this one.

"The God of Light will need to send his power for me to unseal this artifact. What you have brought me is nothing short of a miraculous feat." the preistess said.

"Fine, you money grubbing god worshippers." Jake grumbled inside as he reluctantly handed over the gold coin. He had paid just a single gold coin to obtain the pole, but needed that amount to unseal it?

Wait, unseal it?

"There is a seal on the item?"

"Of course? Who appraised this in the beginning? Must be some stupid priest from the Temple of Fire or something. Who doesn't know that to understand a sealed item, they must come to the Temple of Light?" the priestess said.

Putting aside whatever squabbles this priestess had with the other temples, this news was awesome for Jake.

"Please, do what you need to." Jake said.

"Not so easy. It will take a few moments." the priestess said as she struck the pole into the ground, letting it stand there upright.

She then put her hands together, and the statue that was a few meters behind her suddenly started glowing with an incredible brightness.

Jake covered his eyes, not able to withstand the sudden light that was now coming towards the Priestess.

It basked over the Priestess and the pole that was in front of her.

Jake tilted his hands so that he could see what was happening to the pole. Layer after layer of the rust was peeling off to reveal what was inside.

The rust was just a cover, and the insides were dazzling. It looked like it was made of gold, which was rare. An indestructible gold item only meant that a special type of gold was used. And special gold was astronomical in pricing.

Slowly, the light dimmed down, and Jake saw a few dark spots on his vision. They returned back to normal after a few moments of constantly blinking.

"This item, can I see its true form now?" Jake asked.

"What you found here is truly a wonderful item. The God of Light has told me that with this item, and the items that you have already shown on your person, only great things are expected of you. Do you wish to accept his cause?"

[Special Mission: Travel to the ends of the Wilderness that surrounds the Eastern Continent and establish a temple of the God of Light.

Reward: Favor of the God of Light

Failure: Wrath of the God of Light

You cannot decline this mission]

Seeing this mission, Jake was confused. He hastily knelt on the ground.

"It would be my honor to serve the great god. But where in the wilderness should I establish the temple?" Jake asked.

"Anywhere. The temple can't go on expeditions because it is too dangerous. We need adventurers and warriors like you to help us with this. When you go on an expedition to the very end of the wilderness, all you need to do is bring a priest or priestess from the temple, and we will bless the area for a temple to be built." the priestess said.

"Understood. But we are too weak. It will take time." Jake said.

"And time you have. The God of Light is patient. He is willing to wait for your growth. But when you do become strong enough, if you do not do this, then the God of Light will not be forgiving then." the priestess said with a serious tone.

"I would never let the God of Light down. It will be my honor to expand your influence to the wilderness." Jake bowed toward the statue once again.

Suddenly, the statue shone with a great brilliance.

[The God of Light is impressed with your show of faith. He has rewarded you with a map of the missing pieces that you will need.]

"Missing pieces? Why would I need any missing pieces?" Jake wondered as he grabbed the pole that the priestess handed to him.

He looked at the pole.

[Handle of Poseidon's Trident

Divine Item

"Oh my god! I was right! Looks like I really exhausted all my luck for the next few weeks with this." Jake's face was full of glee and excitement that he just could not contain.
