277 The Doors (Part 2)

Jake looked forward. He knew that he couldn't move fast enough to avoid the spear.

A thousand thoughts rushed in his head as he felt a sharp change in the air.

The spear was hurtled across the space, and it was approaching him rapidly.

But Jake still had a faint smile on his face.

Finally, what he was waiting for. This was the one attack that was too strong to let go.

His body arced, falling limp onto the ground, mere moments before Jake felt a strong wind rush past him.

He could see, for one second there, a long sharp glint that shot past him.

And past him it went, running into the wall of stone behind him.

Clang!

The sound of steel hitting stone echoed in the vast space and there was silence after.

Crack.

Crack.

Seconds later, Jake could hear a sound behind him.

He didn't need to turn around to feel a wide smile plaster across his face.

Battulda glared at him, but he didn't move. Instead, his face was filled with complex emotions.

"You…" the battle crazed maniac shook his head.

"I have failed my master. To think that I would let someone pass these walls." He sighed.

[You have opened the walls of the Beast Kingdom. You have defeated Battulda's will. You have defeated Battulda.]

"Looks like my gamble paid off." Jake sighed with relief.

He looked up to see a giant announcement being displayed. This was probably for him, and for the guilds who participated in the expedition with him.

[The Beast Kingdom's doors have been broken into. The wall has fallen, and you have entered the final section of your siege.

The Kingdom's troops shall retreat back and ready themselves to face you. Prepare for war.]

The announcement had none of the pomp that Jake had hoped for.

"I can only hope that this is going to be easy. Battulda was way stronger than I expected it to be. What if the other monsters are going to be as strong?" He wondered.

[You have defeated Battulda.]

[You have leveled up]

[You have leveled up]

[The current region is no longer a boss area. You will be allowed to text others now.]

Jake looked forward at where Battulda was supposed to be standing. Instead, what he saw was a pixelating mess that was slowly disappearing into the air.

"Wow. I didn't expect to win like this at all. I was just hoping to open the doors and run inside to see what he was hiding." Jake shook his head.

"But oh well. There is going to be something dropped. I can use the loot anyways." He smiled and stepped forward, looking at what this troublesome boss dropped.

He could see a purple glint that gave him hope.

But then again, an opponent this strong was definitely going to have epic drops. It he didn't, then that would be disappointing.

He looked closely at what Battulda had left behind.

[Mythical Spear: Kharis

Epic Class Item

Type: Attack

+10 Attack

Special Skill: Lightning Flash. Item Holder can attack with Lightning flash once a battle, and Kharis will shoot forward with the speed of lightning. The speed of Kharis is bottlenecked by item user's level.]

"That is… an interesting weapon. Too bad no one I know can use it." Jake thought to himself as he shamelessly added it to his inventory.

He then looked at the other drops that were bound to be interesting.

"One rare named set. Another epic item? I should just give it to the other guilds. Or else, they will start complaining about how I hogged the boss." He made a quick note.

He knew that those guilds would definitely start complaining sometime soon. He just cleared the level, so not sharing the loot would be a problem.

"Oooh? This seems interesting."

He bent down to pick up a scroll that had no grade attached to it.

[Royal Decree

Grade: Unknown]

The moment he held it, he could see a pop up.

[Open the Royal Decree?

Y/N]

"Of course, open it." Jake chuckled as he felt the resistance of the scroll loosen and the scroll fluttered open.

The first line that he could see glowed with a golden glint. They shone past the scroll, trying to blind the reader.

There were characters that no human could understand. A language that Jake knew wasn't a part of the real world.

As he looked at the scroll, its translation appeared above it, in English for him to understand.

[Battulda. Protect the walls of the kingdom with your life. The beast kingdom needs to stop the advent of the one chosen by the World Giant.

If you foresee your loss, complete your sacrifice. Awaken the Belegog. It is time that the beast makes its final appearance.]

Jake's eyes opened wide.

This was going to be very, very important news. If they were going against the Belegog, then they needed a small change in how they were going to proceed.

He looked back at the wall.

What lay behind it? Jake couldn't control his curiosity.

He didn't even check his messages that were constantly buzzing as he started drifting closer and closer to the walls.

The rest of the remains of Battulda were locked safely in his inventory, for he didn't want to see scouts steal away what was not theirs.

As he got closer and closer to the giant doors that he had successfully battered past, he felt some pride well amongst him.

He took one step closer to the door, and as he was about to pass through, he felt resistance.

[Error. Error.

You have completed the first section of the Expedition. Look forward to Version 1.2 for more!]

"You have got to be kidding me. All this foreshadowing and the update isn't even over yet?" Jake cursed.

——————————————————

Slam!

"What the hell do you mean, someone already cleared the first level of the expedition?!!!!"

An old, hoarse voice echoed in a brightly lit room.

"We don't know, sir. We thought that the expedition would last atleast until the second update with the rest of the expedition would launch. It looks like multiple strong guilds gathered together to finish the expedition. This… is the same person who got the legendary class."

A young man with glasses whimpered.

"This is not going according to plan. Make something up. Start dolling out rewards and push out more content on the other side of the continent. If the expedition was that quick, then we need to shift their minds elsewhere." The old man said.

"What about the other quests? How are the kingdom quests going on? Do we want those to take the center stage for now?" he looked at the young man.

"We can start adding more kingdom quests and pushing nobility towards players if you want." the young man nodded.

"Do whatever. And I want that new update up and running in a MONTH!"
