47. A Third Wheel

Translator: Sissy That Walk

As Qi Le An was injured, the entire filming plan of the crew was adjusted accordingly. Qi Le An and the Female Lead Ya Ting’s shooting was originally arranged in the later stage, but now they had to do it in the early stage due to Ya Ting’s schedule adjustment.

Apart from Wei Chang Feng, Ya Ting was the most accomplished one in the entire crew. Qi Le An was playing with Ya Ting for the first time, naturally, he was a bit nervous.

Ya Ting was the most promising actress in Hong Kong in the last decade, she had the pure balletic poise and charming features. Although she was not exactly very young, but all her gestures and expressions were just all so attractive. Usually people with real talent are easy to get along with, they wouldn’t give anyone a hard time. Qi Le An was not afraid that Ya Ting will make things difficult for him, he was only worried that he would embarrass himself if he couldn’t match Ya Ting’s performance.

Anxiously, Qi Le An walked to Ya Ting to greet her, Ya Ting smiled on seeing him and greeted him first, “Hi, Little An, how’s your arm?”

“Hello, Ya Ting Jie,” Qi Le An raised his arm that was covered with a thin layer of concerler, “It’s all better now, no one can see it with a bit makeup.”

Ya Ting smiled and looked at Qi Le An, “Hmm, concealer on the wound, that’s no good, it can’t be applied to the skin for too long. Let’s push for one take, and that’s it, so you can remove the makeup soon.”

Qi Le An was grateful for Ya Ting’s thoughtfulness, he made a fist and said, “I will definitely work hard, Ya Ting Jie!”

Ya Ting covered her mouth and smiled, “I heard Chang Feng said that he has a very well-behaved younger brother. I didn’t expect you to be this cute though!”

Qi Le An was praised by a gorgeous jiejie who was almost ten years older than him, , he blushed crimson immediately.

Ya Ting had this playful side on the set, but she was the most meticulous actress when the camera was turned on.

Qi Le An and Ya Ting rarely played together, and the part they were shooting this day was considered an important one.

In the play, the charming and lovely Susan came back from work and saw Cheng who was doing his homework in front of the door. She couldn’t help but make eyes at him, “Hey, Cheng, where is Xing?”

Cheng’s heart skipped a beat when he saw Susan. It took him a solid second to reply, “He’s taking a shower.”

Then he kept his mouth pursed immediately and stared at Susan angrily.

Susan didn’t take it personally. She covered her mouth and smiled, and handed a bag of biscuits to Cheng, “This is for you and Xing.”

With that Susan turned back to her room. Cheng took a look at the bag of biscuits, he hesitated for a long time before he opened the bag carefully, he took out a small piece and tasted it, but then he pushed the bag away in a frantic manner. He glared at the bag of biscuits with complicated emotions, then he suddenly gnashed his teeth and threw the whole bag down from the second floor. However, he sat back on his chair and wrote something down on his notebook angrily, then he halted and scratched the paper with a pen, he took a deep breath and ran downstairs to pick up the bag.

The biscuits crumbled a lot, and he put the bag on the desk anyways. After a while, his sister Hua came back from work, she saw this bag of biscuits and took some.

Qi Le An had rehearsed the scene multiple times in his mind, so his performance was fairly stable, but Director Chen was not satisfied, he thought the emotions conveyed from Qi Le An’s eyes were not enough.

“An, you must know what feelings you are trying to convey through your eyes. There is a close-up here.” Director Chen stopped filming and directed Qi Le An, ”You should convey those complicated feelings, love and hate at the same time!”

Qi Le An nodded, he pondered for a moment and said to Director Chen: “I think I’ve got it this time.”

Director Chen nodded, Qi Le An turned around and apologized to Ya Ting who was doing a retouch, “Ya Ting Jie, I’m sorry, it looks like you have to do a take two because of me.”

Ya Ting was very easy-going. She smiled and said to Qi Le An, “It’s all right, An. This is how filming works. You gotta do a take two if the first take isn’t perfect. We must embrace that!

The camera team signaled other teams, and the Associate Director cured Qi Le An.

Qi Le An’s second take went smoothly for he listened to Director Chen’s instructions.

Others all saw Qi Le An as a bright actor, he could deliver right after the director enlightened him. But Qi Le An himself knew that was thanks to all the experience he had accumulated in the previous life, and old experience could be dried up one day. He told himself that he could only make continuous progress if he listened actively and practiced more.

Fortunately, he has made a good start in this life. Director Chen’s crew was full of accomplished actors that he could watch and learn from them thus to hone his acting skills.

The scene with Ya Ting was filmed three times. In fact, the second take was up to the standard already, but Director Chen still hoped that Qi Le An could perform even better, so he require a third take.

Compared with Sang Jia Yi who was often scolded by Director Chen, Qi Le An was pretty lucky.

Ya Ting didn’t rush to go back to the lounge after filming, she watched Qi Le An and Sang Jia Yi filming a scene.

Sang Jia Yi had changed a lot after the nightmare, she became friendly and cautious. Her acting skills were not bad in the first place, and she has been honed by Director Chen for a few days in a hellish manner. It could be said that she grew the most among them all.

Sang Jia Yi didn’t deliberately make things difficult, and it was not so uncomfortable for Qi Le An to play with her. Director Chen was satisfied after their fifth take, but he insisted on taking more because his standard was particularly high.

They had only shot two scenes the whole morning, which was only a minute or two in the movie, Qi Le An sometimes would think show business was indeed tough business.

Wei Chang Feng also showed up at lunch, they gathered around and started to chat, Ya Ting praised Qi Le An again.

It was Wei Chang Feng and Ya Ting’s shooting that afternoon. Qi Le An missed Wei Chang Feng too much, so he rejected Chen Shan’s suggestion of going back to the hotel, he decided to stay on the set and watch them shooting.

Qi Le An now had the privilege of sitting next to Director Chen when others were filming. He could also master a lot of skills while listening to Director Chen and the cameramen.

Qi Le An met Dou Zhi Yuan when he went to the restroom.

Qi Le An didn’t know exactly how Director Chen had communicated with the Dou Zhi Yuan’s team leader, but there was no scowl on Dou Zhi Yuan’s face. Qi Le An was glad that Dou Zhi Yuan was happy about the arrangement.

Dou Zhi Yuan hurriedly greeted Qi Le An when Qi Le AN walked out from the restroom like he was there waiting for him.

Qi Le An was greeted so warmly at the bathroom door for the first time in his life, and he couldn’t help feeling a bit strange.

Dou Zhi Yuan beamed a bright smile at Qi Le An. He said shyly to Qi Le An, “I finally have a chance to talk to you, Qi Ge!”

Qi Le An was really embarrassed that Dou Zhi Yuan called him Qi Ge. He scratched his head and said to Dou Zhi Yuan, “Please just call me Le An, Qi Ge sounds weird.”

Dou Zhi Yuan smiled shyly on hearing that for the second time, “All right, Le An, I think the pearl powder I gave you last time is about to used up, so I asked my family to send another package.”

With that Dou Zhi Yuan took out a bag of pearl powder from his pocket.

Qi Le An listened to Dou Zhi Yuan’s words and mixed the pearl powder with milk, he could feel the skin around the wound was getting soft and smooth. Seeing Dou Zhi Yuan bringing him another package, he quickly said, “I still got half bag left in my place. This is so precious. You should keep it.”

Dou Zhi Yuan’s face flushed suddenly, and he stammered: “I’m just doing what I should do!”

Qi Le An felt that Dou Zhi Yuan would cry if he insisted on not accepting it. He had to take the pearl powder and thanked him, “This is such good stuff, thank you so much.”

Dou Zhi Yuan’s expression softened a lot.

Qi Le An actually wanted to inquire about the “The Coffin” a little bit, but it felt too rushed and too early like he was using Dou Zhi Yuan, so he held back and prepared to wait until the time was right.

The props team required hard work, Dou Zhi Yuan and Qi Le An only got to talk for a little while before he had to go back to work. When Qi Le An returned to the set, Wei Chang Feng had finished filming his part and was about to remove his makeup.

Qi Le An couldn’t help but think of the scene where he removed Wei Chang Feng’s makeup in the RV and fell into his arms. His face suddenly turned red. Wei Chang Feng looked at Qi Le An and asked, “Why are you blushed suddenly?”

Qi Le An quickly shook his head, “It’s nothing,  are you done for the day, Wei Sama?”

Of course he knew in his heart that Wei Chang Feng was done, but he just wanted to confirm it with Wei Chang Feng, “Yep, that’s a wrap for me today.”

“Then would you like to have some food together?” Qi Le An followed Wei Chang Feng into the dressing room. Wei Chang Feng sat on a chair, and a makeup artist came to Wei Chang Feng to remove his makeup.

Wei Chang Feng said: “Sure, what do you feel like?”

“Anything.” Dinner was the least of Qi Le An’s concern at this point.

The makeup artist said admiringly, “You guys are so close!”

Wei Chang Feng smiled without saying a word.

The makeup artist recommended a barbecue place when she was busy removing Wei Chang Feng’s makeup, Qi Le An nodded and decided to give that place a try.

He couldn’t care less about what they were going to eat, this time he aimed for Wei Chang Feng’s hair!

Chen Shan went back to the hotel without Qi Le An, and coincidentally Gary wasn’t on the set either, he just left the car for Wei Chang Feng.

Wei Chang Feng asked the makeup artist the details of the restaurant and headed there. It turned out to be a ten-minute drive, not far away at all. Qi Le An noticed the restaurant was a whole lot like a night market stall. Their specialties were all Korean cuisines, especially Korean barbecue.

The place looked a bit shabby with humble decorations. Qi Le An looked at Wei Chang Feng and said, “Wei Sama…should we just leave?”

He felt that Wei Chang Feng wouldn’t like this vibe!

“It’s okay,” Wei Chang Feng said, “Little Tao said it’s a great place. ”

With that he walked in with Qi Le An and they found a table deep inside.

Wei Chang Feng finished shooting late, it was almost nine o’clock, the peak hour had passed. There were not many people in the restaurant, and there was no staff around them. Qi Le An and Wei Chang Feng checked the menu and discussed for a while before Qi Le An went to the counter to order.

The waiter didn’t recognize Qi Le An at the counter, but Qi Le An was sure that he would stare at Wei Chang Feng if it was him who came to the counter.

Qi Le An returned to his seat after he ordered for them, but to his surprise, Sang Jia Yi was sitting on his seat.

Qi Le An stared at Sang Jia Yi with disbelief, ‘how come a third wheel is sitting on my seat out of the blue!’
