45. A Family Dinner

It was Wei Chang Feng who was knocking on the door. Wei Chang Feng rushed to the hotel to check on Qi Le An in his lunch break.

“Have you eaten, Wei Sama?” Qi Le An smiled as bright as a flower on seeing Wei Chang Feng, he held his fried rice in both hands and asked whether he wanted some.

Wei Chang Feng had eaten already, he took a look at Qi Le An’s rice and praised him, “It’s good to see you are having a light diet, keep doing that for a few days, all right? ”

Qi Le An grinned, “I will.”

“How is the arm now?” Wei Chang Feng put the cake he brought on the coffee table and asked Qi Le An.

Qi Le An raised his arm and said, “It’s good. Someone sent a packet of pearl powder just now.”

Wei Chang Feng asked as he were in deep thought, “Is it from the person who has hit you?”

“How do you know that?” Qi Le An asked in surprise: “He said he just wanted to come here and apologize to me before going home…”

“I just met him by the elevator.” Wei Chang Feng said.

Qi Le An nodded, and then he suddenly said, “Wei Sama, Dou Zhi Yuan didn’t hit me on purpose or anything. I always feel…it would be bad if he lost his job because of me.”

Wei Chang Feng asked, “Is that really what you think?”

Qi Le An nodded.

Wei Chang Feng looked at Qi Le An with some relief, “I’m glad you can think it this way.”

Qi Le An frowned and said with a distressed look, “But I don’t know how to deal with this matter.”

Wei Chang Feng smiled and said, “Let’s have dinner with Director Chen tonight, Tong is here too.”

On hearing that, Qi Le An thought of the lively and lovely girl, he couldn’t help asking: “I wanted to ask you this question last time, who is this Tong?”

Wei Chang Feng smiled and said, “Tong’s full name is Chen Jingtong.”

Qi Le An opened his mouth wide and said, “Is she… the daughter of Director Chen?”

“She said she was a fan, I just thought she was Wei’s friend!”

“You should have kept asking, how can an ordinary girl be friends with Wei Chang Feng!”

“Hey… it’s okay! Anyway, she’s my Lean Lover!”

“Lean…what? What are you talking about!”

“Come on! He just invited you to a dinner! Did say he anything about helping you!”

Chen Shan looked at Qi Le An like he were lunatic, “Family dinner? You and Wei are family now?”

Qi Le An: “…”

“Sorry, I was wrong, not a family dinner.”

The afternoon passed by quickly in Chen Shan’s teasing. In the evening, Gary came to pick Qi Le An up and arrived at the restaurant early.

Wei Chang Feng would come together with Director Chen after work. As for Tong, she would stroll over by herself after she checked in.

So now there were only two people in the private room, Qi Le An and Gary, and they gazed at each other in silence. Qi Le An coughed awkwardly, and said, “I’ll call Wei  Sama…”

“Probably no,” Gary said with indifference, “What if he is still working.”

Qi Le An touched his nose awkwardly and said, “That’s right.”

Silence reigned the room again.

For Gary, Wei Chang Feng’s assistant, Qi Le An had always kept him at a respectful distance for Gary always had this icy manner towards people.  His work ability was outstanding, and everything he did was planned for Wei Chang Feng’s development. Qi Le An remembered that in his last life, this assistant had been following Wei Chang Feng diligently.

Fortunately, the ringing of the phone relieved the embarrassment between the two of them. Gary walked away to answer the call, he returned to Qi Le An after a while and said, “Miss Chen is here.”

Sure enough, Tongtong opened the door of the private room shortly after speaking. She greeted Gary first, and then looked at Qi Le An with a smile: “Hi! Long time no see!”

Qi Le An didn’t change his attitude towards Chen Jingtong after he knew who she was, he smiled at Tong and said, “Long time no see, how have you been, Tong.”

After the two said a few words, Director Chen and Wei Chang Feng had also arrived. Tong didn’t smile as brightly on seeing her father as when she saw Qi Le An, but she still took Director Chen by his arm and smiled, “Dad!”

Tong showed a cheek smile and greeted Wei Chang Feng.

With that they took their seats, Gary told the waitress that they were ready to be served.

Qi Le An found that Director Chen was a total ‘daughter slave’. (T/N: A ‘daughter slave’ refers to a father who is willing to do anything for his daughter, pays a lot of attention to them and is kind of clingy towards her.) Director Chen was still asking Tong what she had for lunch when they were having dinner, he was still concerned whether his daughter had a good lunch.

“That’s enough!” Tong said resignedly, “Dad, I’m a big girl, I know how to take care of myself!”

Hearing that, Director Chen changed his mind on serving Tong one more piece of pork chop, his hand halted and with that he put the pork chop into his own bowl. Tong smiled at Qi Le An and said, “My father is always worried that I’m hungry.”

Qi Le An hurriedly said: “Well… Dads are like this.”

As he spoke, Qi Le An thought of his own father, there was a touch of distress in his expression.

‘If my parents were still alive, would they be spoiling me like this?

With that in mind, Qi Le An saw a piece of fish in his bowl.

Wei Chang Feng’s voice rang by his ears, “Eat, you need to eat more for a better recovery.”

Director Chen couldn’t help but said, “Yes, Le An needs to eat more!”

After dinner, Wei Chang Feng asked Gary and Director Chen to escort Tong back to the hotel in the city, and he would go back with Qi Le An.

No one had any objection to this arrangement. After bidding farewell to each other, Tong got into the car reluctantly after Qi Le An promised her that they would catch up again soona.

Gazing after Director Chen and his daughter, Wei Chang Feng smiled at Qi Le An, “Let’s snatch a little leisure from a busy life, is there anything you wanna do?”

The restaurant was just located by the Canton Tower, right next to the Pearl River which was adorn by many cruise ships floating on it.

Wei Chang Feng saw Qi Le An’s gaze and said, “It may be too late to jump on the cruise ship, do you want to take a walk by the riverside?”

Qi Le An averted his gaze and said half-jokingly, “I am happy to do anything with Wei Sama!”

Wei Chang Feng smiled dotingly, he shook his head and said, “You… are really a kid.”
