A very exquisite ivory carving, carved with the three immortals of Fu Lu Shou.

It is an object from the Ming Dynasty.

Ivory is the strongest part of an elephant's body, and its smoothness is jade, durable, and precious as jade, so ivory has the reputation of being an organic gemstone.

Ivory is different from normal teeth. There is no enamel covering on its surface. Very afraid of acids. Strong acids can corrode it, and weak acids can soften it. If the ivory is soaked in acetic acid, it can be softened, and then used a knife or other tools to rotate and carve, often twice the result with half the effort.
