The Messenger of Death

Chapter 60: pointed peaks

['So, what book are you going to read first?'] Al asked with excitement. This was something he had an interest in, so of course, he was eager to know more.

['Now you sound like a kid that's about watching an adult film.'] Alex mocked.

['Tomato-tomato, just get right into reading the books.']

['Sorry Al, I don't plan on reading any alchemy books yet. I just want to duplicate as much as I can first.']

['You sly hypocrite.']

['Music to my ears... or mind.']

He brushed Al away and continued to scan and duplicate books. Occasionally he picks a book out and pays, just so he could pretend that he was reading. He didn't want to invite any suspicions to himself.

From the first floor, he moved to the second floor, then to the third and fourth. Alex had been scanning books for the past 3 days, although he did sit to read some books about rune mastery once in a while. It pissed Al some more.

['I guess the limitation really is from my current strength.']

Despite going through books, he still couldn't process a fraction of the memories he received, properly.

['You know that you don't have to scan every single book here right? Many are just the same thing written by different individuals from their own understanding.'] Xander mentioned.

['I know, I just feel like I should have them all. Call it greed, besides, it feels good to rip the school off.'] A smile crawled its way to his lips after he said that.

Since he arrived on the third floor, he had come across books that required MPs before he could take them out. So he stuck to scanning without attempting to retrieve any book from the shelves. It was like window shopping for him.

A quarter way through the fourth floor Nana appeared out of nowhere. She sneaked up on Alex and whispered to his ears. "You can't go any further Alex."

Hearing a voice that wasn't coming from his head, so close to his ears made Alex jump into attack mode on instinct.

He immediately raised an elbow and used it to attack Nana who was standing behind him, skillfully aiming for her head.

-Thud!

She easily blocked his attack with a palm, like it was nothing. Alex still didn't wait to see who the person was, he attacked again, this time with a bicycle kick.

-Whoosh.

Nana dodges his kick easily as well, she used a hand to flip his body as he was mid-air and restrained him in a weird way. She held him bridal-style in her arms, locking both his arms – one with her hand and the other with her chest; and his legs too, tightly.

She chuckled and said; "You are a feisty one, Alex. I have been watching you for the past 3 days and you have been doing some weird things that I still don't understand. Standing in front of the books and just looking.

At first, I wondered if you had a book that you were looking for specifically, then later on that possibility was scratched off. What have you been doing?"

She brought her face closer to his and narrowed her eyes. Alex was still in the process of taking in what had happened in the past few seconds.

The way he was easily restrained and how he was restrained.

Coming back to the present when she brought her face closer to his, Alex was noticed his right hand was being pressed against something soft and warm. He ignored her gaze and looked at his right arm.

Nana's perky but ample breasts were crushed against his arm and causing a lot of confusion to Alex.

Her cloth was too thin and it left a lot of room for him to feel the pointed peaks of her breasts. He started to feel weird, a feeling that he had felt once, and that was the last time Sheila took his bath for him.

His heart beating fast and some stirring in his nether region. Alex had totally forgotten about all Nana had said just some moments ago.

She noticed what Alex had his attention on and smirked. "You shameless kid." She released her grip and left him in the hands of gravity.

-Thud.

"Ah."

He blurted out as soon the impact from landing on his back snapped him out of his hormonal trance.

"Why did you sneak up on me like that?" He asked with a frown, brushing off the fact that he had embarrassed himself in front of Nana.

"You have thick skin." She giggled.

['And you have soft boobs. You could have just acted natural and enjoyed the comfort that came with her restraining yet blissful hug but no, you had to act like the virgin that you are.'] Al coached and blamed Alex.

['Quit it, your perverted drool is affecting my thoughts.'] Alex stated.

"Are you always this free with people?" He asked as he got up from the ground.

"Why? You want to be the only one that gets such treatments?" She flashed a flirtatious look at him.

But to Alex her flirtatious gaze looked very weird, it didn't look attractive with the dark circles under her eyelids, her rough hairdo, and glasses.

"You haven't slept in while."

"Avoiding my questions eh?" she chuckled.

Alex sighed. "Were you looking for company?" He changed the topic again.

"No, I wasn't. You are not supposed to be on this floor. That's why I'm here."

"Why? Is this place restricted?" He looked around to be sure that he hadn't wandered into the wrong place.

"Yes in a way. To enter the fourth floor and above you will have to pay an entrance fee. With MP."

"What!? That's… That's just…"

"That's ingenious of the school right?" Nana interjected.

"That's preposterous."

"Hahahaha, no free meals here. Well unless you consider me a meal." She winked at him.

"You are probably the reason why I have hardly seen students here, a flirt." He whispered underneath his breath.

"Yes I am the reason, but trust me it's for a different reason. The treatment I give them is different. I even earned a nickname, the witch of the glasshouse." She laughed at her nickname.

['More like a vixen.'] Al commented.

"A witch? Why?"

"Let's just say that you are the only one I've given special treatment since I started being the Librarian here. If another student had attempted to look at my ass or stared as much as you did, they would have spent some time in the infirmary."

['This is just a trap in plain sight. How would you dress like this, with a body like that, and expect people not to be tempted to look? She's just looking for a victim to torture.'] Al fumed.

['That's not the important thing here. I escaped going to the infirmary for the second time since I arrived in this school.']

"And why is that? Why give me the so-called special treatment?"

"Because you left a good first impression and also you piqued my curiosity with your weirdness. Alright, that's enough questions, you've over stayed your welcome on this floor. We should head down to where you are allowed to be. "

['This school is a scam!'] He fumed in head.

['Look at the bright side, you duplicated a lot of intermediate epoch books without paying a single thing.'] Lex comforted.

['True. But I'm still greedy for more.']

['That's the spirit, rabbit. But it would have been better if you showed this greed for things that are more important than these dusty old books. For example someone's perky boobs.']

['Shut up.']

"Alright. Nana, I would like to see those encyclopedias on monsters and plants."

"Alright, follow me." This time he didn't walk behind her but beside her. He wasn't going to take the risk of getting sent to the infirmary again.

Nana took Alex to where he could find the books. He spent a day duplicating and reading some of the encyclopedias on plants and monsters.

On the night of the sixth day, Nana asked him to leave. He had been here for the past few days without going out for a break. At first, he refused but she threatened to force him out after restraining him, and then he gave in and left.

He stepped out of the library and the night breeze greeted him gently. He inhaled the fresh air.

"Come again another time Alex." Nana smiled and waved at him, then the doors closed.

"Weird ass woman." He whispered and left the vicinity of the martial skill pavilion. Making his way to the guest inn.

He opened the familiar doors of the inn and stepped in and reached where the Xiao En is usually seated.

"Ah, you are still alive? I thought you had died in the library. You don't look like Nana tortured you." Xiao En said as she observed Alex's countenance. He looked normal, with no injuries.

"So nice to see you too. That indecent woman weird woman was indeed a bit unpleasant."

"Indecent? Unpleasant? Hahaha, that's the first I've heard. People who have fallen for her trap all call her a witch or psychopath. Did you fall for her trap?"

"What do you think?" He replied with a neutral expression.

"I think you are gay." Xiao En concluded.

"Vain woman, goodnight." He left immediately he heard her off point reply.

"You vile child, I'll strangle your ostrich neck." She was about to pounce on Alex from behind when the steward appeared before her and shook his head.

"Ahhh." She screamed in frustration and sat down on her sit.

"Lucky bastard." She uttered before she placed her head on the counter.
