The Messenger of Death

Chapter 56: huge waste of space

Now that the staff was gone Alex noticed that Duna, Arabella, and Andrea were part of the students on the ring. Arabella looked at Alex's hand with a bit of concern in her gaze while Andrea's curiosity increased tenfold.

'The arrogance that Alex showed to Vincent, there must be something giving him the confidence to do so. I don't believe someone like him is stupid.' That was what went through Andrea's mind.

Duna was pleased to see what Vincent did, when it happened he resisted the urge cry out in jubilation. The only thing that bummed him out was the fact that Alex stopped showing any sign that he was in pain a few minutes after he got injured.

Alex was aware of their eyes being on him. ['I need to leave this place.'] He thought.

Right after the thought crossed his mind, one of the students in a black uniform stepped forward and introduced himself. Just for a moment, the student in black that introduced himself caught the attention of those that had their eyes on Alex.

['Seems like that's our cue.'] Al mentioned.

['You don't need to tell me twice.'] Alex concurred.

He proceeded to erase his presence and got up from where he was seated. Alex quickly left the Arena without anyone noticing his absence. Not long after Camron saw that Alex was missing from his sit.

'Damn, how and when did he do that? That so-called technique can't be ordinary.' Camron reasoned with himself.

Seemingly at the same time that Camron was aware of his friend's absence, Duna, Andrea, and Arabella also noticed.

The three of them were perplexed, Alex was there just a moment ago and the next thing he's gone without anyone finding out. For someone with his cultivation realm to be able to avoid their perception, it was a feat to be proud of.

Camron stood up and quickly left for the exit, hoping to meet Alex before he goes far. Camron's need for speed attracted the gazes of many in the arena. As he left so did Duna, Andrea, and Arabella, they all pursued after Camron.

Most of the people thought that something was wrong, they also wanted to dash out of the arena, but the facial expression of the Nirvana realm cultivator that was already introducing himself; stopped them in tracks. He looked very furious.

-Shoosh!

Camron dashed out from the exit of the arena. 'Where's he?' He looked left and then right.

"If there's anywhere he knows in the school, it's the guest inn." Camron quickly made his way to the guest inn.

Not long after his sister and Andrea appeared and ran side by side with him. "What are you guys doing here?"

"We were looking for Alex and then we saw you leaving, so we decide to come after you," Andrea explained as they ran.

"I'm also looking for him," Camron mentioned.

"Why are you running after him?" Arabella questioned. "That's because I fear that he might do something stupid and cause some major problems for the academy." He answered.

"Why are you saying that like he's capable of something like that?" Andrea joked, but it wasn't funny to both Camron and Arabella as they knew a secret of his that most didn't know. Or so they thought.

They arrived in front of the guest inn in no time and they stepped in, greeted the receptionist, and quickly made their way to Alex's presidential suite. Standing in front of the door to the presidential suite was Camron and co. Camron brought put his badge and opened the door. The first thing he saw was Alex sitting by the patio side sipping tea.

"Alex, is your hand alright?" Arabella asked.

He raised his previously injured hand and waved at them. "Yes my hand is alright, the injury wasn't as bad as it looked. Andrea and Arabella were surprised but Arabella recovered quickly. She had a feeling that it had to do with his bloodline. She has heard about bloodlines bearers that heal fast because it is one of their bloodline abilities.

"Then why did you disappear out of the arena like that?"

"Well, I had to come back to retrieve some healing ointment for my hand, couldn't take the risk." His lips curled up into a smile while he winked at her. He stood up from where he was seated and went into the living room, where the rest were.

"Why didn't you just put the healing ointment in your storage ring?" Andrea thought out loud. She was still skeptical and curious about Alex.

"I actually forgot. And I also came back to change my uniform, the other has my blood smeared on it." He gave an awkward laugh.

"Oh, that's true. You have to get it cleaned, although the uniform has self-cleaning programed runes imbued in it, it's functions are limited to water, sweat, dirt, and so on. But when it comes in contact with blood, it sticks. You can call it an evidence protection measure." Andrea explained.

"Okay, I need to learn how to inscribe runes, it's so flexible," Alex exclaimed. "Yeah, but at the cost of your life span." Camron blurted out.

Immediately after Camron finished speaking a blue flame appeared out of thin air not far from where the four of them stood.

**************

Roughly 5 minutes after Camron and the girls had already arrived in the guest inn, Duna also arrived. He stopped in front of the inn wondering why they came here.

He didn't think that could afford to stay here. He had been searching for Alex in the general dormitory last night and since he couldn't find him there, he thought that Alex was camping in one of the forests just to avoid him.

Duna enters the inn and heads directly to where the receptionist was seated.

"Hello, how may I help you?" The receptionist said in her well-practiced robotic tone and her pretentious smile present on her face.

"I am looking for the students that just came in here not too long ago, can you tell me what room they are in?"

"No, that is not information I can pass to you without the customer's permission." The pretentious smile on her face widen.

"I… Okay, can you tell me when the customer will be checking out?"

"That is also classified information, moreover, I am not the customer and I do not know the customer's intentions."

'Why do I feel like this receptionist doesn't want to help me? Well, they shouldn't stay long, I heard that a night in the cheapest room here is very expensive. They should be heading out, latest by nightfall.'

"Okay then, I will wait till they come out." He started to walk towards a cushion that was at a corner not too far from where the receptionist was seated. After taking a few steps he stopped when he heard the receptionist speak.

"Hey! I suggest you leave this place if you do not have any intention to rent a room at the moment. You are a huge waste of space, and even if you wait here it wouldn't matter. The customer paid for a whole session."

"What!?"

Duna was surprised at first, not at the fact that she had insulted him out of the blue, but at the part when she said that they rented a room for a whole session.

A few seconds after he recovered and then frowned his face. He felt like the receptionist was lying just so she could get rid of him. He wasn't bothered by her rudeness because he heard the rumors about her. She was famous for her crippling hospitality.

He was about to give up, up until he saw the girl whose MP was also deducted in the arena by Vincent, for laughing at Alex – walked by him. At that moment an idea popped into his head, a very idiotic idea. Before the girl could proceed any further he turned and pushed her to the side forcing her to greet the floor with her buttocks.

From where he was, he spoke to the receptionist. "I am a group member of Alex, can't you at least contact him and tell him that a group member of his is here?"

The receptionist saw when he pushed the girl to the floor and said nothing about it.

"You annoying kid. Do I look like I work for you?" she stretched her right hand out, over the counter and opened her palm. Out of nowhere, a strong wind came and forcefully pushed Duna closer to her, at a high speed.

Duna was taken aback by her actions. He already knows about her bad temper from the rumors but he didn't think it was this bad. He closed his eyes out of fear, expecting to be to crash into her grip and get strangled, as there was nothing that he could do to resist.

Almost every student knows that 80% of the staff are very strong cultivators, despite their positions in the academy.

Suddenly, he felt the weight of a hand on his shoulder that held him in place, cutting his unfortunate predicament short.
