The Messenger of Death

Chapter 44: storage pouch

Andrea let go of his hand when she saw that he was starting to put a bit of weight behind his pull. Duna took two steps backward.

"At most, it would have knocked a few of his teeth off, and then shifted his jaw. But most of all, he would have been alive." Duna said.

['That was a close one, we narrowly escaped a brutal beating. You should watch your mouth Alex.'] Xander warned.

['I know, I know. I will try not to aggravate him anymore.'] His jaw had almost been shifted. Alex had no choice but to comply with what Xander said. He knew that he couldn't beat Duna.

"Attacking a junior for no reason, while you are duty. I guess you want to start the session with little or no MPs." To others what Andrea said sounded like she was prosecuting him. But to Duna, it sounded like a threat. He snickered at her statement.

"The next person should come up, stop wasting our time," Duna said aggressively. The young man at the front of the nascent cultivators' line jumped as he heard Duna speak. He was the next person to go. Andrea chuckled at Duna's frustration, she turned her head and looked at the young man that was supposed to go next.

"Take your time." She said with a smile, calming the young man down. A glare from Duna got him fidgeting again as he rushed to the pillar.

Alex also glared at Duna. 'You redhead radish, I will come for you when I have the strength to pummel you to the ground.' Alex started to imagine himself beating Duna into a pulp.

He didn't know that Duna was also glaring at him, imagining the same thing only that their positions were switched. Andrea's voice brought them back to reality. "You can follow me now, eh, what do I call you?" she asked.

"His name is Alexander. Thank you for defending him, Andrea." Arabella spoke up. She gave a short bow to Andrea.

"Bella, you know him?" Andrea was surprised, Arabella hardly socialized with anyone if not her family or the few girls in their circle.

"You don't need to thank her for me, Arabella. I will do that myself." Alex said politely.

"Thank you for saving me, gorgeous lady. I am called Alexander, Alex for short." He introduced himself with a courteous smile on his face.

['Smooth, I like that. I seem to be rubbing off on you, rabbit.'] Al proclaimed.

['You are not rubbing off anyone you pervert.'] Alex said in response.

Andrea was a bit startled, to her it sounded like Alex was trying to thank her, and at the same time trying to make advances towards her. She giggled and said;

"That's cute, you have a sweet mouth, Alexander…"

"Please just call me Alex, Alexander is a bit stressful to say." He interjected.

"And you are also considerate too. Handsome, considerate, confident, the only barrier now is age. How old are you Alex?" She asked playfully.

"Hahaha, not old enough but almost there." He replied with a wink. His attitude and replies had Andrea smiling throughout their conversation. They hit it right from the beginning of their conversation. After a few minutes of chatting they stopped messing around. A few people were waiting by the side, they had already finished checking what element they were affiliated with the most.

"Alright, let's go over there so that I can start handing out uniforms." She said to Alex and the rest. "You too Arabella, I would like us to chat once we are done here." She added.

"First we would start with you." She said to the girl that checked her affinity first. "You checked your first, we would follow the same sequence. Then after her would be you Alex, form a line."

"I am okay with that." He answered.

['You were hitting it off with her.'] Lex playfully said.

['I was only chatting with her politely.']

['With a huge smile on your face. Hahaha, let me just make things a bit clear to you rabbit. She already rejected you before you had the chance to ask for anything the moment she asked about your age.'] Al interjected.

['I wasn't going to ask for anything in the first place, pervert.']

['Hey, don't take out your frustration on me. Look at the bright side, she called you handsome.'] He mocked.

"Alex." He heard Andrea call. "Are you alright? I have been calling your name for a while now. Were you serious about the heat stroke thing?" She asked curiously. Alex had been standing by the side with his eyes closed. He had a frown on his face so she thought that something was wrong.

"Huh? No, no. I just zoned out a bit." He quickly said. "Okay. Come stand here, it's your turn." She ushered. Alex willingly did as she said.

"I will be starting now, sorry for the probing." She said before she started. "It is not an issue." Alex gave his go-ahead.

She bobbed her head a bit and began. Alex could feel a force invade his core, the feeling of having your core being probed was like that of when you are bathing and you know that someone is peeping from the keyhole on the door.

"Origin realm, rank-6. An orange uniform for you Alex." Andrea smiled as she announced. She touched a pouch hanging by the side of her waist. 2 sets of orange-colored uniform appeared on her hand, then a badge with the Roman numeral figure 'I' boldly inscribed on it, appeared on top of the uniform.

"This is your uniform and badge. The figure inscribed on the badge is for that of the 1st years. You will have to let a drop of your blood drip on it, after that, you will be considered a true student of the Severance academy." She handed it over to Alex. "This is mine." She showed her badge – inscribed on it was the Roman numeral 'III'.

"I am a 3rd-year student. In this school you graduate after 6 years, or should I say that that's the maximum years you can stay here. If you haven't met certain requirements then you wouldn't be able to graduate. And if after 6 years you haven't met them you would be expelled with no proof to show that you were once a student here." She explained.

"Is that thing hanging on your waist some kind of storage device?" His curiosity got the better part of him.

"Yes, it is. You have never seen or heard of a storage pouch?" Arabella was a bit startled, storage pouch was a common thing around here.

"No, I only know of storage rings." He replied and raised the hand he had his storage ring on.

"Wow, that's a nice ring. Storage rings are not that common. They are much more expensive than the pouch type and you can hardly find any in the market. You are really lucky."

['So that's how it is. Wait, Camron has too'] He thought. He looked around and he saw that most of the people here had a storage pouch hanging on their waist. He had not noticed this before.

"How are sure that this would be my size?"

"You don't need to worry about that. The clothes have some runes inscribed on it, the cloth will expand or shrink to fit your body comfortably."

['The fashion stylist of this school is a retard. Such a bland and tasteless sense of fashion. They wasted their money on a fraud.'] Al insulted.

['I don't see anything wrong with it.']

['How would you? Your sense of fashion is even worse than the person's own']

['Whatever you say Al.'] Alex ended the conversation with his perverted and most problematic alter. He bit his thumb and let his blood drop on the badge. Just like what happened when he let his blood drop on his storage ring, the same thing happened here. The badge absorbed his blood into itself.

"Thank you." He said as he put his badge and uniform into his ring

"You are welcome. If you lose the badge you can go to the secretarial to get another one. The only confirmation they will need will be gotten from your blood, as it has been registered the moment the badge absorbed your blood"

Alex nodded, step aside, and went to stand beside Arabella. She looked at him as he came to her side. "Either you are confident or you just love to cause a commotion," Arabella said to him.

Alex chuckled. "Maybe I like to cause a commotion, but I know that I have a reason for doing almost everything I do."

"Oh, then why did you step on Duna's toes? Is it because you know that you have a protector that doesn't have a match on this continent?" she used a hushed tone to say that last part.

Alex raised his eyebrow and gave her a questioning look.

['A protector? The only protector I was supposed to have ditched me on the first day, the first hour, and the first minute of her duty. That bimbo is long gone.'] The first person that came to his head was Camilla.

"A protector? I don't have one. She left the day we got here, this continent." He said truthfully.

"Really? I doubt that." Arabella said, choosing to ignore what Alex had just said. She thought he was just trying to mislead her.
