The Messenger of Death

Chapter 290: the password

"That was kind of intense," Lex muttered.

['Yeah, intense. There's always a motive that drive people.'] Alex added.

['For her brother, she has gone through many obstacles and still chooses to go through more. Kinship, if mom and dad were still alive… would any of us do something similar to what Shellie has done? Would we have sacrificed our time, attention, and heart towards caring for them?'] Alex asked.

['Hmph! Why are you asking that kind of question?'] Al scoffed at the question. ['I will have that sibling pay me back after recovery.'] Al whispered.

['I would have done so willingly.'] Lex replied.

['I already put my life on the line for you, if we had a sibling what's stopping me from doing the same for that sibling.'] Xander answered.

Alex chuckled and said. ['If mom and dad were still alive and they gave birth to more children, each of the siblings would take a personality from either of you.']

['What if one of them is a girl?'] Al joked.

['That would be perfect for Lex.'] Alex began laughing after giving his reply.

Lex blushed furiously, but he wasn't angry, rather he was pleased with the kind of conversation that they were having. He chuckled and left the room continuing to explore the bunker.

['You know, we should have more conversations like.'] Alex said cheerfully.

['Hahaha, I like how you think rabbit. No.'] Al refused.

['I'd rather not too.'] Xander replied, refusing Alex's suggestion too.

['Come on!! Why not?'] Alex questioned.

Lex just chuckled some more at their replies, "You guys must have felt really awkward and uncomfortable having that conversation." He said.

['I didn't.'] Alex replied.

"That's because you are you… the first." Lex was referring to him being the first consciousness and occupant of his body. "We have never imagined being a person of our own, it's always been us."

['Oh, I'm sorry. Didn't think that you guys thought like that.'] Alex apologized.

['There's nothing for you to apologize for.'] Xander comforted.

['To be honest, after coming here and finding out about you guys… after all that we have been through together, sometimes I feel as if you guys are my siblings. The siblings that manifested in me.'] Alex confessed.

['Didn't we just agree not to have a conversation like this again?'] Al complained.

['You sure know how to ruin the mood.'] Alex commented.

['It's a pleasure, what else is this big brother here for.'] Although didn't want to talk about it, he was overjoyed that Alex saw him as a sibling and not a personality that was intruding. Refusing to express his joy as a normal person would, Al chose this path.

Alex scoffed, ['Big brother? You wish.'] He said playfully…

An hour had gone by since Lex had seen any more projection.

['With that weirdo gone, I doubt we would see any more projections. He was the only one that seemed to be interested in it.'] Al said, referring to Charlie as the weirdo.

Lex had been walking around and most of what he was seeing were destroyed objects and structures.

"How did the walls of this part of the bunker get destroyed?" Lex wondered. "Even our flames couldn't affect it the last time that we tried.

He walked closer to the wall that had been destroyed. The wall looks as if it was popped open. He looked past the wall and saw there was an extra room in it. Lex stepped in and as soon as he did a projection appeared right in front of him.

The virtual face of the beautiful Elena appeared just a few inches away from Lex's face. This sudden occurrence stunned Lex and caused him to yelp. He covered his face with his hands in shame.

The virtual Elena had cut her long white hair in this projection. She was holding a pocket mirror and checking her mirror. Lex just happened to be standing where her mirror was, that's why her face was inches away from his.

['Calm down, it's only a projection.'] Al mentioned.

"I know, but it was unexpected. And… and her f-face was next to mine." Lex stuttered.

['Seriously, you getting are turned on from that!? A projection for that matter!' Ahh, the audacity. My image, Ahh I think I'm going to have a headache.'] Al overreacted.

"I'm sorry." Lex apologized, still blushing furiously.

['Don't apologize to him, he's just being a drama queen and a pervert as usual.'] Alex stated.

Lex started to calm down, he then took a look at the virtual Elena. "Elena has aged." He pointed out.

['That's true. That means that quite a while has passed after Shellie left the bunker.'] Xander said.

['That or something made her age quickly.'] Al added.

Alex sighed at Al's statement.

"It's been a while since I've don't this. I don't know why I stopped making a video diary for you to see, Shellie. Since the day you left with Charlie, I have missed the two of you dearly." Elena began speaking.

"This place started to feel suffocating. I even often wonder if I made the right decision staying here, grandpa wouldn't even let me leave the lab these days. I think that he's scared that I will run away." Elena chuckled.

"Although it has been years since I last made a video for this diary, I chose to do this today because we have finally achieved what we couldn't in past few years. What would have had the chance to save Charlie, I want you to see that my grandfather kept his promise, even if it is way past the agreed time.

Shellie, we have finally found a way to merge inscriptions into the products of alchemy. Today, we are attempting to produce the first pill that will have a rune inscribed into it."

An excited smile shone on Elena's tired face as she closed the pocket mirror and placed it in her pocket. "I wish you were here to see this happen." She added before walking towards a huge metallic door that resembled the same one that Alex tried to melt in the past, the one that Lex had to teleport past.

She placed her index finger at a point on the door and drew a pattern. As she drew these patterns, a blue light followed after and they began to connect on their own and in a few seconds Elena stopped what she was doing and the patterns finished connecting. The whole door turned gave out a green glow.

Suddenly, the door started to enter the ground, like a building sinking in quicksand.

['Don't tell me that that's the password to all the doors.'] Alex reasoned.

['It should be.'] Al stated.

Behind this door was a huge space huge open space, from where Lex was standing, it looked as if this part of the bunker was inside a mountain, with the walls pointing up and the ceiling shaped like a cone. This part of the bunker had the lights on.

Elena walked past the door and Lex followed behind her, only to bump his head on what seemed to be an invisible wall, at least that he thought it was for a second.

"Ouch!" Lex cried out as he rubbed his forehead. The whole room went dark as the projection momentarily ended there.

['Hahaha, you forgot that it's only a projection and that the doors were actually closed.'] Al started to laugh.

['You seem to be laughing a lot today.'] Alex commented.

['Let me be, I stayed silent for months and couldn't even laugh when I wanted to.'] Al said in his defense.

['Lex, draw the same pattern she drew on the door and see if it work.'] Xander suggested.

"Was just thinking of doing that."

Lex placed his index finger in the door and closed his, remembering what Elena drew. He then opened his eyes and started to draw.

And just like what happened when Elena was drawing this pattern, the same thing happened as Lex drew the pattern.

By the time Lex was done, he felt the whole room quake for a few seconds before the door started to sink into the ground.

Immediately, Lex stepped in and the projection continued from where it stopped as if it was waiting for Lex to arrive.

Elena walked to an elevator and Lex followed her. This time, he made sure to check if the doors of the elevator actually opened and not just the one in the projection. Elena pressed the T button and Lex did the same.

The elevator ride wasn't as smooth as Elena's own as it has been long since it was put to use.

Soon they arrived at the top of the cone-shaped structure. And as Lex stepped out of the elevator, he was greeted by the sight of dozens of scientists.

They all turned to look at who it was that just arrived. "Miss Elena," They gave her a little nod as a greeting before proceeding to continue what they were doing.

"Elena, come over here." Professor Gorr called.

"Coming."

Meanwhile, on the other side of the underground bunker, the door that Lex teleported past was now open and his teammates were right in front of it…
