The Messenger of Death

Chapter 219: babysitter

Both Bobby and Klein were taller than Alex.

"The two of you know what to do. Protect the young master well, or the Mistress is going to kill us. Don't even let a hair from his head go missing." Jacob transmitted to his disciples.

Bobby and Klein could be considered well informed because they knew a bit about the clan that was in control of their sect.

Jacob, their master, had told them a lot of things.

"Don't worry sect master, I will make sure to take care of the young master properly. Klein will be the one to act as a guide for him." Bobby transmitted back to Jacob.

Nana was listening to the conversation that they were having. She wanted to make sure that they weren't making any stupid plans.

-Ping!

*A route to the Midas flower has been made. Would the user like to turn on the GPS function?

If yes, nod your head once, if no, nod twice.

The system notified Alex and it was kind of hard for him to hold his smile back.

He proceeded to bob his head once.

*Command recognized. Turning GPS on in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Soon, the familiar red arrow that showed up the last time in the Agelong forest surfaced again.

['12, 823 kilometers!'] Alex read the distance.

['That's quite far. With our top speed, how long will it take us to get there?'] Xander reasoned.

['If we can travel at the speed of 460 – 547 mph. None stop, then we should be able to make it there in 16 to 17 hours.'] Al calculated.

['That's draining, if we take an hour or 2 to rest after every 8 hours then we should be able to make it there in 2 days.'] Xander recalculated.

['Can we even move that fast? I mean, that speed, it's the speed that a plane travels at.'] Alex wondered.

['I can, I might even be faster if I integrate the lightning with the QI around me.'] Xander claimed.

['Let the pilot take over, and the passenger should just sit back and enjoy the joyride.'] Al stated playfully.

['Shut up mutt.'] Alex muttered.

-Switch.

Alex switched with Xander.

"Good, the fate of the Sword Heaven lies in the hands of the two of you, do not let us down." Jacob transmitted to his two disciples, he looked a bit frightened.

He started praying in his mind that his disciples will not fail in protecting Alex.

Bobby turned and faced Xander, he placed his fist in his palm and bowed. "Young master is there any place that you have in mind? Or would you prefer to move around randomly?." He asked.

"First of all, stop calling me young master. Call me Alex, without any honorific." Xander ordered.

"Okay, Alex." Bobby complied.

"Let's leave this crowded place first." Xander looked up at Nana and locked eyes with her for a second.

"I'll be off now." He whispered, knowing fully well that she would be able to hear what he was saying.

"Hmm, I'll try not to worry too much." Nana transmitted to his ears.

Xander turned and started walking. As he took the first step, the people around him created space for him to pass. They stepped aside.

He had a calm and confident expression.

Soon they exited the Sword-like mountain and Xander took another look at the sea that his master created not too long ago.

"She's too damn strong." His brows furrowed a bit.

Bobby and Klein knew who exactly Xander was referring to, and they agreed with him.

He proceeded to continue walking and Bobby and Klein followed behind without saying anything.

After a while, Xander stopped and faced them. "You don't have to follow me. My master is just the overprotective type, I don't really need a babysitter or two for that matter." He said to Jacob's disciples.

"I'll have to disagree with that, young… Alex. Your master said that if a hair on your head is out of place, she would destroy the Sword Heaven and kill every disciple of our sect." Bobby explained.

['That woman.'] Xander sighed.

['If they follow us, doesn't that mean that we are taking them straight to the Midas flower? They might also covet the flower once they see it.'] Alex pointed out.

['Ditching them wouldn't be easy, not one bit.'] Xander reasoned.

['Just be on your way, before we reach there, I should be able to think of something.'] Al stated.

"Alright then, suit yourselves," Xander said.

-Tnnzz!!

Streaks of rose-gold lightning manifested around Xander.

These streaks brought about a frown on Bobby and Klein's faces. Xander wasn't the first lightning elemental user that they've met, but he was the first that they had seen with such control.

And there was something else about his lightning that stunned them.

-Whoosh!

Before they could ask him anything, Xander charged towards the direction that the arrow from the GPS was pointing at.

Bobby and Klein wasted no time chasing after Xander.

-Zzznnn!!

Xander's speed increased. To the two that were tasked with guarding him, they thought that he was trying to ditch them, but in truth, he wasn't.

Xander just wanted to reach his destination early.

The more streaks of lightning that materialized, the more stunned Bobby and Klein were.

"Bob, I was wondering why Mistress Ice picked someone as weak as him as her disciple when she could have millions of talented people that she could pick from. I think I know why now." Klein uttered.

"Me too. Those streaks of lightning, the amount of sword Dao concepts that they have been emitting, it's unnatural." Bobby agreed with his brother.

"Just the fact that there are sword Dao concepts in the lightning is unnatural. I've heard of swordmasters that can use a twig as a sword and still retain the sword Dao concepts. But I've never heard of it being present in an element. It doesn't even look like he's trying to control or comprehend any of it." Klein pondered.

Soon they entered a blue forest, almost everything in the forest was blue. The leaves the flowers, the insects, and even the soil, all of them were blue in color.

['Well, this is a first.'] Al commented.

['It's pretty, I want something like this.'] Lex giggled.

['It does look refreshing.'] Alex concurred.

Xander passed by a tree and his lightning struck that tree.

-Boom!!

Xander stopped in his tracks and looked at the tree. His lightning had set it on fire.

[Why did you do that?'] Al asked.

['I didn't do anything on purpose. The lightning moves on its own and only attacks when there's something dangerous heading for me.'] Xander answered.

['Now the tree is too damage for me to see what was about to attack me'] He added.

"Did you see that?" Klein asked Bobby.

"Yeah, I did." He replied. "It attacked on its own. It is almost similar to that one in the sect."

"Do you want to ask him if he is a nonpareil?" Bobby glanced at his brother.

"I want to, but I don't know if I should," Klein responded.

In a moment Klein appeared beside Xander.

"Alex, if you don't mind, can you tell me if you are a nonpareil?" He asked.

Xander didn't see anything wrong in telling him the truth about that, so he decided to answer him truthfully.

"Yes, I am. Can you tell me if there was anything dangerous on this tree before my lightning hit it?" Xander questioned.

Although Xander had stopped running, his lightning ability was still active. His eyes were covered with rose-gold lightning.

When Klein looked into Xander's eyes, he wasn't able to lock gaze with him for more than 3 seconds.

For some reasons unknown to him, he felt inferior to Xander when he looked into his eyes. Just for a millisecond, Klein saw a white dragon wrapped with different colors of lightning in Xander's eyes.

He quickly looked away in trepidation as his heart began beating heavily.

"Yes, there was a chameleon-snake using that tree as a camouflage. Before it had the chance to attack, your lightning shot it down." He answered.

['So there was really something dangerous on the tree. This lightning element is damn good.'] Al blurted.

['My question is, why did he ask if we are a nonpareil?'] Alex wondered.

"Why did you ask if I am a nonpareil?" Xander asked.

"Well, your lightning contains a lot of sword Dao concepts, so I was wondering if it is because you have mastered a stage of the Sword Dao." He replied.

"Sword Dao concepts? What are those?"

"You don't know? How is that possible?" Klein was shocked to hear that.

"I know what the sword Dao is, but how is it different from the sword Dao concepts?"

Bobby arrived beside Xander and Klein. "The sword Dao concept is just an imitation of the Sword Dao. The Dao itself is limited to nonpareils, but for people like us that haven't been able to awaken the seed of Dao in our consciousness, imitating the laws and rules of the Dao is all we can do." He explained.

"Although, it is just an imitation, nothing about it should be underestimated. After all, there are many ways to achieve power." He added.
