The Messenger of Death

Chapter 16: western continent

Alex stood by the side of the road waiting patiently. He saw eight red-colored horses with well-cut muscles, brown hoofs, and grey colored eyes.

"A weird looking horse. Well, who am I to complain. I need their help."

Alex looked at the person driving the carriage. He saw a young man with above-average features, dark brown hair that reached the tip of his pointed ears, a pointed nose, and a stern look on his face. He dressed in a navy blue uniform, the uniform look a bit like that of military personnel with a black trench coat on.

"Shabby fashion sense." He criticized.

Alex saw a figure appear beside the coachman.

"Another good looking fellow and this one is strong. He should be a Nascent or Disaster Realm cultivator."

Alex did not know how to quantify an individual's realm yet. But he could instinctively tell that the figure that appeared beside the coachman is stronger than he is.

'He is definitely not as strong as Camilla is.' He thought.

"That b*tch... Calm down, Alex."

He said out loud to himself. He still got pissed at the thought of Camilla and what she did. Since he couldn't get his hands on Kain or Death's Door, he needed someone to direct his hate and anger on. Apart from the fourth Dragnel brother, Camilla seems to have gotten herself into that list.

"Nonetheless, I have to be careful, he is still stronger than I am. And I don't know what he is capable of." He said.

"Neighhhh!!" The carriage stopped a few meters away from Alex.

"Why are they stopping? Is there anything abnormal on me, why are the horses acting strange, like the animals in the forest when they see me?" Alex was conflicted.

"Please don't be the type to die on the spot. I am not in the mood to fight the people you are transporting." Alex smiled and took the initiative to approach them.

As Alex closed in on the horses they started to pass out one by one.

'Sh*t, just keep on walking Alex. Act like you saw nothing, there's no need to ask for help from these gentlemen. I can just follow the sloppy pathway and see where it takes me.' Alex thought.

As soon as Alex was about 6ft away from the coachman and the strong individual, they fell to the ground. They looked like they were suffocating.

"Please young lord, retract your bloodline suppression. If we had offended you we did not intend to, please forgive us. We approached you because we thought that you needed help. Please spare us and retract this pressure." The strong individual struggled to say.

"Huh, My bloodline suppression?" Alex thought for a second. He had noticed his blood racing right after he injected the serum into his body. He knew that he could suppress it but choose not to because it made him better.

'Wait, is that why all those animals died on the spot? Goddamn it. I've been bulldozing through the forest wondering why the animals were weird while I was the weird one there.' He sighed inwardly.

Alex suppressed the racing blood in him and immediately, the pressure he had been unconsciously giving out retracted.

"Thank you v-very mu-ch… young lor-d." The coachman said as he tried to catch his breath. He got up and checked if the horses were still alive.

"Thank goodness, they are still breathing." He turned and looked at Alex in fear.

The strong individual got up as soon as he could do so properly and bowed.

"Thank you young lord for your mercy. My Name is Camron Avanti, the third son of the Avanti merchant family. Can I dare to ask for your gracious name?"

"My name is Alexander, Alex for short."

"Sir Alexander, I thank you for your mercy once more. This is my bodyguard, his name is Evan." Cameron pointed at Evan who was already in fear of Alex.

Evan gave a bow to Alex.

'Woah, this bloodline thing is a comfortable thing to possess.' Alex said in his mind.

"Don't apologize. I was the one that mistakenly released my bloodline powers. And I did so unconsciously."

'I don't know any family with a bloodline as strong as his, or any with a descendant named Alexander in the Western Continent. Could he have come from the central continent? If he did then what is he doing here, far away from civilization. And his cultivation, is he one of those young lords that refused to cultivate till they are forced to? I envy you.' Camron said in his mind.

"I was hoping I could join you on your journey. I seem to have gotten lost." Alex said with a smile that he forced out. It made him look a lot scarier than he was already, to Evan.

"We are heading towards the capital city of the western continent, are you also going there, Sir Alexander?" Camron asked. He was hoping that Alex was going to the capital. He wanted a chance to get acquainted with Alex.

"Yes, I am." Alex lied like it was natural. As an assassin, he was a great actor. He would pretend to be other people with different characters when he was on some missions in the past.

"Then we would be honored to have you journey with us, Sir Alexander," Camron said as he gave another bow.

'Someone with a good brain and bearing. Tell Camilla how honorable it is to travel with me. But that crazy bimbo beat me up and called me a liability.' Alex fumed in his mind.

"Call me Alex, saying Alexander is stressful." He said to Camron.

"Very well Sir Alex."

"Without the formalities. Drop the 'sir' thing. Just call me Alex."

"Alex? Alex," Camron said the first time doubting if it was okay to call him that.

Alex looked at the horses that were on the ground, passed out.

"I guess we would have to wait till they are conscious before we begin the journey huh," Alex said.

'Dumb f*ck isn't that obvious already.' Alex said in his mind, face-palming himself inwardly.

"Haha, it seems so." Camron gave a short awkward laugh.

...…..

An hour later the horses were conscious once again and they resumed their job of pulling the carriage and obeying the instructions of the coachman.

"So Sir Alex, can I ask why you are going to the capital?" Camron took the initiative to start up a conversation with Alex after they had been in the carriage for over thirty minutes in awkward silence.

Well it only felt awkward to Camron, Alex was enjoying the silence and he had his eyes closed. Trying to mentally adjust to all that he has been through in a day or two. He wasn't sure how long he had been out, after Sheila's death.

He opened his eyes and glared at Camron. Camron immediately recognized his mistake and corrected it.

"Sorry, I meant Alex. Alex, may I ask why you are going to the capital city?" Camron smiled at his embarrassment.

"I am searching for a strong sect or organization to join. One that could help me get stronger quickly, one where opportunities for fortune is often met." Alex replied as he looked outside the carriage window that by his right.

The carriage climbed many bumps as they moved, the bumped filled road was starting to annoy Alex. He frowned his face and said.

"Sloppy stupid road."

Camron was a bit confused. He was wondering why Alex was insulting the road.

'Is this young lord bipolar?' he asked himself.

Camron was used to traveling on roads like this, so the bumps didn't affect him in any way.

"A strong sect to join? I am also going to join a sect, although they are not the strongest amongst the five giant continents, they are the strongest on the western continent. Would you like to join the same sect as me?"

"Hmmm, I suppose that will do for now. Thank you, Camron." For the first time since they met Alex thanked Camron sincerely.

'Did he mean it or was he just trying to be nice. I can't tell with this young teen. Who says thank you with a stern look on their face like that. Is he mocking me?' Camron was getting more and more conflicted the more he analyzed Alex.

"Are we heading there directly now, or we are making a few stops first?" Alex asked.

"We would only stop for the horses to rest or if anyone needs to ease their selves. We should be in the capital in two days at most."

"Alright." Alex was satisfied with the answer he heard.

"Si-I mean Alex, can I ask how old you are?"

Alex raised an eyebrow.

'An unexpected question.' He thought.

"Well, I am 15 years old. Pretty old right." He said with a smirk trying to crack a joke.

"Hahaha, if you are old then I am ancient. I myself, I am 18 years of age."

"Alex, can we be friends? I don't know why but I want to be friends with you"

Alex raised an eyebrow once more, but this time it arched higher.

'Another unexpected question. This guy is just brimming with the unexpected isn't he?' Alex concluded in his head.

"Sure, why not," Alex said, but he didn't mean it. He said it just to keep Camron's bubbles floating.
