The Immortal Player

"And now… The match we've all been waiting for!" The live coverage commentator said as the Logos of the two participating teams were displayed in the screen.

"It's Team Whales… VERSUS… Teeeeeam Oran Gutan!" The commentator added.

The woman sitting beside the handsome American commentator nodded with a smile before saying, "I am Dorie Towes and this is my partner, Mr. Allain Peters, or more famously known as the Bronze Man from the 'Amazing' Series that we all love!"

"Ahahahaha!" The blonde haired Allain laughed out loud before saying, "That's quite an introduction you gave to me. Miss Dorie! Anyway… Let's talk about the participants of the next match first, because… I am excited as our viewers right now!"

"Haha… Let me guess… It is because of the 'Unparalleled' strength of Team ARES, until now, compared to the other participants of the Simulated Battle Competition!" Dorie Towes said in response.

"Unparalleled strength, huh? More like TERRIFYING! Hahahaha!" Allain Peters laughed. "You guys might not know, but… I am also an avid player of Bearth Online in the American Server. That said… Since the game's release, it has been a real challenge to me, to just simply survive in the wilderness! So… Being able to watch these guys compete against each other, and show their 'true' powers… It's just like… They have become real heroes in the game—which I could only portray in movies!"

"It's really quite intriguing, how these players got so powerful in the game!" Dorie Towes said. "I am sure that everyone's waiting for the show that Team Oran Gutan prepared for us, but… Their opponent in this match, is a group that shouldn't be trifled with!"

Mr. Allain Peters nodded in response. His face wore a serious look before saying, "Team Whales, from their team name itself, are one of the huge spenders from the European server, that invested millions of dollars already in the game! By that fact itself… Team Whales might be also hiding some 'terrifying' surprises to all of us—which is something to look forward to, in this match up!"

Miss Dorie Towes smiled before saying, "Well… We'll know soon enough—who would stand victor in the end!"

"Would the 'monkeys' be able to successfully catch the 'gigantic' fish, or not? Let's all know as the match begins!" Mr. Allain Peters said as a counter started holographicaly counting down at the middle of the Bearth Online Arena.

The crowd cheered as the participating players were teleported into the extremely cold, dark, windy, and snow-filled mountain.

"Brrr!" A player from Team Whales trembled due to their cold environment. Then, he added, "It's like we are in the top of Mount Everest! What's the plan, Captain?"

A handsome guy with a blonde hair and mustache simply sighed in response before saying, "We'll proceed as planned! We'll probe our opponent's strength using my wolf transformation, then, we'll work things out from there!"

"Anyway… Don't worry too much about our opponent!" Team Whales' Captain added. "No matter how strong they are… Unlike us from the European Server… The Asian Players aren't familiar with this kind of environment in the game! So… It would be difficult for them to adjust in this kind of situa…tion!"

Just after Team Whales' Captain was able to finish his words, a gigantic wolf—that is thrice as big and long as the ordinary wild mountain wolves, jumped past him—targeting one of his fellow players.

The wolf was so big that it resembled a 'monster truck' flying off a ramp.

Sadly, before they could gather themselves, the wolf's iron-like claws and fangs—which resembled a small tusk from an elephant, ripped 3 of the 20 players on Team Whales, in an instant.

Instinctively, The Team Captain of Team Whales transformed into an ordinary mountain wolf, before crying once.

"Awooo!"

The remaining players from Team Whales scattered in response—running away in multiple directions, to avoid being instantly killed all at once.

Unfortunately, during their fleeing process, another four players fell to the gigantic wolf hunting them.

Time passed by quickly in the cold, dark, and snow-covered mountain, and… eventually… the lone, small, mountain wolf was left on his own—barely able to run away from the gigantic monster that, obviously, can no longer be considered also as a wolf.

"What the Fuck?!" The small wolf cursed to himself deep inside.

"Why is there a monster in the Face Off Mode?! Shouldn't monsters and NPCs only be present in the Kingdom Defense Mode… is probably what you are thinking right now." A mysterious voice of a man spoke behind the tree that the Captain of Team Whales has just passed by.

The Captain of Team Whales—who was in his ordinary mountain wolf form, was greatly surprised to the point that he wasn't able to notice a foot—which he tripped upon, sending him crashing into the snow.

White clouds of snow filled that area—making the visibility close to zero.

But, seconds later, it started to dissipate as the mysterious voice spoke once more.

"Well… Sometimes... Players can be monsters too!"

At this moment…

One… Two… Three…

There are more than 10 gigantic wolves approaching Team Whales' Captain—cornering the unfortunate small wolf in all directions.

"By the way… We're a huge fan of you, Mr. Cheese!" The mysterious voice chuckled as one of the gigantic wolves ripped the small wolf into two.

[Team Oran Gutan Wins!]

The Holographic Announcement was projected in the Arena.

However, at this moment, be it the players from Team Whales, the commentators, or the audience watching the coverage of the match… All of them were speechless about what they just witnessed.

The match ended in just few minutes, despite the huge Battle Field and the challenging environment.

"Wha-Wha-What just happened?" Dorie Towes asked with a frown on her face.

"I… I…" Mr. Allain Peters could only shake his head in response before glancing towards the direction of the VR Boxes of Team Oran Gutan—that were starting to open at this moment.

(Note: The VR Boxes were opening because there's a break between the two battles in this elimination match. This was made so that the players can easily adjust to the different environments on each battle to be commenced.)

"I just don't know what to say!" Mr. Allain Peters said, a few seconds later, as the players from Team Oran Gutan started walking out of the Arena to their Discussion Room.

At this moment, albeit not being able to fully absorb the 'also' scary strength of Team Oran Gutan, the observers in the arena and those watching the live coverage could not help but to shout in cheers to Team Oran Gutan Players for their cold but spectacular way of display of their power.

At this moment, Director Veronica handed over a phone to Weyron—whilst walking together with the other players from Team Oran Gutan.

"Your phone, son! Your cousin might call you at any moment for another 'important' instructions." Director Veronica said.

"Just tell us, mom, if Cousin Pedro had more plots for our guild to carry out!" Weyron complained in response.

"Allow me to clarify what I said, son!" Director Veronica scolded. "I said… Your cousin MIGHT call you! I'm just telling you to be ready… You know, just in case!"

Weyron simply grumbled in response, saying, "I got it! I got it!"

Hi Guys...

I would like to apologize for not being able to update chapters in this work, since the second half of this year. 

To be honest, writing has been a bit rough for me since then, and, until just recently, the laptop that I have been using for years has finally reached the end of its service life. The even sadder thing about this was that, I was unable to recover the files containing the information, potential plots, and some succeeding chapters--not only for this story, but also for my other works. 

Hence, it was really a great challenge for me on how to move forward and go from this point. 

Sadly, Up until now, I am still uncertain on how I would continue the story, and, thus, can only update a chapter or two from time to time. 

That said, I hope that all of you guys enjoyed my work, up until this point.

I sincerely thank all of you for your great support.

And, I hope that I'd be able to continue working in this story sometime soon.
