Chapter 25: Combat Round Part 3

Damian was furious at Trevor who hurled insults at his best friend and ridiculed him in front of such a large crowd, but knew he would get into big trouble if he did anything and stayed seated with his fists tightly clenched.

As he got angry, Matilda as the friendliest gave him a tap on the back and some reassuring words, but Damian was still enraged as his yellow eyes shined in the mid-day sunlight.

"You can insult me as much as you please, but I will not be affected by your words and will defeat you" replied Milo, keeping his strong front, but deep down felt hurt by the truth behind Trevor's words.

Milo had quite a strong body and came 4th in the Body Test, however, his body alone wouldn't be enough to beat Trevor who was talented and had a Body Augmentation Soul Spirit, which was currently more useful than Milo's ability that his body couldn't handle and he couldn't control.

"You may begin" repeated Ivan, unbothered by Trevor's insults and threats.

Trevor hearing Ivan give them permission to begin for the second time activated his Soul Spirt as his body's power rose massively.

There was a small thin layer of energy around Trevor as he activated his Soul Spirit, whereas Milo decided not to use his Soul Spirit and merely relied on his energy to slightly reinforce his body.

They stood 10 metres apart as Trevor glared at him full of hatred, envy, jealousy and self-consciousness, while Milo glared back defensively wanting to prove himself.

The first to initiate the battle was Trevor who charged towards Milo and when he was in range activated a skill.

His right fist became coated in a bright orange energy that had black stripes as he launched it at Milo's stomach.

Tiger Fist

Milo tried to dodge, but was too slow compared to Trevor and was launched sliding backwards in the ground as the first struck him.

He began to vomit all the food he ate during the break, along with some blood that was because of the internal impact.

The Tiger Fist was a valuable E:9 Ranked, and to have had access to it and learnt it at such a young age was incredible.

Skills were ranked in the same way that Soul Spirits and Talent were ranked.

However for Trevor to have already learnt it before joining the academy, clearly showed his talent and background.

Trevor purposefully didn't show his ability during the Body and Will tests as he wanted to shock the crowd and class with his ability in the Combat Round and keep the element of surprise.

He came from the Ray Family that was a well-known family that was wealthy and had many young talents.

They had a very high reputation within the Akegria Academy and because they weren't a noble family by status, agreed with the idea of overthrowing the monarchy and the noble originator families.

They were known especially for their Wild Boar Beast Soul Spirit, that would give them a wild and powerful attacking power and defensive power.

Trevor was an illegitimate child of an affair that the Ray Family head had with a maid and he didn't inherit the Soul Spirit of the Ray Family despite being talented.

He was treated as an outcast and wasn't provided with the resources that his half brothers and cousins received, because of his mother being a maid and him not inheriting the Soul Spirit their family was famed for.

This made him from a young age very cold, hardworking and cruel.

Overtime hatred towards those that look down on him and those with Soul Spirits was born within him and only continued to grow.

He had just turned 11 and after his common Soul Spirit awakened, he stole a few skills before he left which he would train alone in the night and had planned to gain as much strength and power he could within the Akegria Academy to overshadow his half brothers and cousins and take the seat of the young family head to take over the family.

His desire for attention and respect from others, was why he hid his true potential in the first two tests and reached a point where he was blinded by desire and no longer cared about what happened to others in the process of him gaining strength and respect.

Seeing Milo who had befriended all those that had rare Soul Spirits and came across arrogant with his ability that seemed to only be able to allow him to form wings, Trevor became furious and formed a hatred towards Milo.

"Milo" screamed Damian in worry, seeing his friend so brutally attacked.

Just as Damian was about to jump on stage and help his friend, Ivan appeared on the edge of the stage that was in front of him.

"Anyone that interferes within the competition will be disqualified and may even be kicked out of the Academy for not following the rules" stated Ivan.

"I stop the battles when I see that the opponent has lost the will to fight and allow them to continue to battle if not. It is a good opportunity to draw out their maximum power and potential" he continued while giving Damian an intimidating and warning glare.

Sitting back down with an extremely frustrated expression, Damian tightly gripped the armrest that was cracking between his palms as he vowed to avenge Milo.

However, when he looked over at the fallen Milo, Damian could see that within his eyes was the burning intent to continue to battle and not give up.

Milo slowly got up and it was obvious that he was struggling to even move his body, but from his eyes, one could see that his will to battle didn't waver in the slightest.

Damian didn't want to see his friend, get hurt but also didn't want to step on his pride and wanted to allow him to prove himself, so could only stay seated and anxiously watch and hope that Milo didn't get injured and that Ivan stopped the battle before there are any serious injuries.
