26. The Little Boy (7)

Sun Zheng hugged him so hard that Lu Xia felt himself suffocating.

He didn’t know what the one holding him had seen and how frightened he was. He just never saw anyone like Sun Zheng need him badly like this.

He had been thinking he was unpopular.

“Wait… I’m about to suffocate. Zheng…” Lu Xia had been comforting Sun Zheng by patting his back in the beginning, but as he felt it difficult to breathe, he started struggling.

Sun Zheng let go of the hug that he could feel at ease in an instant.

He turned away in embarrassment, blushing. “Sorry, I’m too excited.”

Lu Xia heaved a sigh, but he didn’t know whether he was feeling relieved or disappointed. “As long as you’re fine!” he said.

“I… I saw many strange things…” Sun Zheng raised his head, looking a little embarrassed. “I’m kind of… kind of…”

Lu Xia grinned, revealing two dimples. “I understand. I’m scared too. To comfort you, I’ll give you another hug!” With that, he stretched out his hands, as if waiting for Sun Zheng to throw himself into his arms again.

Sun Zheng shot him a glare and pushed his hands away. As if he had suddenly recalled something, he waved the key shining like a shell in front of Lu Xia.

“What’s this?”

“I told you before. It’s a key someone inexplicably sent to me. Seems it has something to do with my brother.” Lu Xia put down his hand, his eyes still flashing with excitement because of Sun Zheng’s safe return.

“It’s such an important thing! Weren’t you afraid it would break when you threw it to me?”

“… I was afraid.”

“…” There was a strange silence.

“Actually, it’s made of tridacna,” Lu Xia stammered and broke the silence. “I remembered that tridacna seemed to be able to drive away evil, so I threw it to you.”

Sun Zheng stared at Lu Xia’s face with a mixed feeling.

“Why did you save me?”

“Uh… isn’t this normal?”

“You risked your life to push me out of the door just now. And this time, you threw such an important thing to me without hesitation. Is it worth it?”

“Only the two of us were left in this world. If we don’t take care of each other, who else can we rely on?” Lu Xia explained.

Sun Zheng still stared at him, trying to get something out of him.

Feeling awkward, Lu Xia coughed slightly. Then he suddenly thought of something else and immediately grabbed Sun Zheng by the arm.

There was a terrifying black fingerprint on his wrist!

The two of them looked at the fingerprint in shock.

After a while, Sun Zheng said, “It’s a child’s handprint.”

Lu Xia nodded silently.

“I was in the No. 3 Clinic of the General Surgery Department just now.” Sun Zheng pointed to the room beside them. “I heard knocking on the door and moaning like someone was injured, so I opened the door. The moment I just opened it slightly, I felt that something suddenly grabbed me by the wrist and tried to pull me out. In desperation, I grabbed the doorknob with my other hand…”

“You…. How dare you open the door?” Lu Xia revealed a surprised look as if he had just found the one in front of him an idiot. “Apart from my voice, you can’t believe anything else. No, you can’t even believe my voice. Maybe something else morphed into me, who’s now standing in front of you.”

“Really?” Sun Zheng widened his eyes and poked Lu Xia. “Your morph turned out to be a success!”

It was the first time that Lu Xia heard Sun Zheng play a joke on him like this. He burst out laughing. After a short while, as if he thought that the atmosphere had become too relaxed, he put on a serious look and continued, “It’s still very dangerous here. Let’s get into the room first. Tell me everything you’ve seen.”

The two of them supported each other into the No. 3 Clinic of the General Surgery Department. After locking the door, Lu Xia carefully scanned the room, waving the torch in his hand. “Huh?”

“Is this room really the one on the map?” Lu Xia asked Sun Zheng in a low voice while looking around.

Sun Zheng pointed to the desk on which lay the notebook and the map. As soon as they sat down at the desk, Lu Xia immediately fixed his gaze on the map.

“So strange… What’s so special about this room?” He confirmed the room but didn’t let go of his doubts.

Sun Zheng was still upset because they had entered the wrong room when they were on the 4th floor. “Could this map be wrongly marked?” he said.

Hearing that, Lu Xia remembered what he had found in the archives room and was lost in thought.
