Surviving the Apocalypse While Being Tempted by an Elf and a Dark Elf

            While carrying Rina on his back, Luke ran as fast as his legs permitted him. Not even the flames of the salamanders could reach them when he was running that fast. In any case, after leaving those enemies behind, they found a forest that was half in flames, and Luke could feel Rina's tension rising. Her people were supposed to be hidden there…

"You guys sure like your forests," Shalia said.

                Luke wished that Shalia could be just a little more worried about the situation. She might have considered that her own people might be in a similar situation, but that didn't seem that important in her eyes. Defeating the enemies no matter what was more important…

          Thanks to the terrain, running at his top speed inside the forest wasn't easy, but it was a lot easier to leave the pursuers behind. In the end, it didn't take long for Luke to hear the sound of metal colliding. Rina's friends were in trouble… What a time for Luke to arrive. He usually would sigh, but he couldn't because they were the friends of a friend. 

          The smell of blood began to get more intense, so Luke slowed down and gave Rina the chance to jump from his back. After a couple of seconds, they found an elf with a huge wound on his torso fallen on the path. They didn't even have to stop to know that he was dead… the wound was just too big. After running for a few hundred meters more, Luke and Rina found a new species of creature armed with axes. They were on the size of the buffed goblins, so three meters tall, but they didn't look like anything Luke had seen. Their skin was silver-like, and it seemed alive… it was moving in motion and giving the shape of a full plate armor. Their heads had two long and thick horns to the sides, and their expressions resembled of monsters of terror movies. There were fifteen of those, and they were defeating the elves and capturing some of them with ease.

            It was also a weird time to get a quest, but Luke decided to forget about it. Those fifteen guys were strong, and their armies of salamanders soon would arrive, making the battlefield even more chaotic. Suddenly, one of those weird monsters turned around and looked directly at Rina.

"The queen of the elves returned! Capture her!" A silver talon shouted.

"You sure are popular…" Shalia said.

"Why capture? Wouldn't your death make things easier for them?" Luke asked.

"Maybe she has a prize on her head, or maybe someone wants her talents for their descendants," Shalia said.

            If that was true, that would confirm the theory that the children of some individuals can inherit their parents' skills. Still… that was more than a little bit annoying… to treat a friend of Luke like just a tool to create a strong army. 

"... Lend me one of your boomerangs," Luke said while glaring at the enemies.

            Rina didn't ask why he wanted one, but she could guess, so she threw it at him. When three of those assholes got close enough to them, Luke activated Weapon Augmentations and three the boomerang. In the next moment, five others appeared and flew at supersonic speeds toward the faces of those grotesque creatures. One of them managed to react in time and block two projectiles, but that made a crack appear in his ax. When the creature looked at that, it didn't see Luke suddenly disappearing and then reappearing with his sword ready to impale its throat.

            The creature tried to block it, but the crack made the weapon break, and Luke's sword ended impaled the monster's throat anyway. The silver-like thing that protected its body hadn't been enough to prevent Luke's attack.

"That is a lot of experience and… coins!" Luke said and then used Stinger on one of the creatures that had lost their sight. 

            Much to Luke's surprise, the monster somehow reacted and blocked his attack with both hands. As if that wasn't unexpected enough, the silver-like armor had moved from the rest of the monster's body. It now was covering only the monster's arms. Still, Luke grabbed the monster's head and then used Spark Ball over and over again until the creature was bleeding from its eyes, nose, and ears.

"Look out!" Shalia raised her voice, and Luke immediately lowered his stance.

            In the next moment, an ax passed above Luke. One of the enemies tried to split him in half. It wasn't one of the wounded since Rina had just finished the third one. In any case, another creature jumped and tried to attack Luke from above. Dodging or parrying the attack was impossible, so Luke just blocked with his sword. Although he felt a lot of weight behind the attack, his weapon resisted, and then Luke used Sonic Blade on the face of the creature.

            At that distance, the monster was unable to dodge it, so the skill cut the face of the beast quite deeply, but Luke didn't stop there. He used the skill several times until the monster died.

          After killing four of those fifteen creatures in a matter of seconds, Luke and Rina became the center of the attention and made the enemies raise their guards. At that moment, Rina approached and then grabbed his hands.

"Use Magic Link," Rina whispered.

            Luke had forgotten about that and used the skill before the enemies could come up with any plan. In any case, Luke knew what Rina had in mind, and he did exactly that. After she buffed his magic, Luke used Lightning level two several times in a row until all his mana and Rina had been exhausted.. In exchange for that, five of those creatures were killed instantly.
