Stronghold In The Apocalypse

Darius wasn't the only one in shock, the others were too, as even Bella was wearing a face full of disbelief with her mouth slightly open.

"I thought…they were just ordinary people that relies on their equipment"

Still amazed at the discovery, Bella is muttering to herself while watching the two soldiers engaging the Tanker confidently.

"Does that mean we can apply too? After all, both of us are also mutants"

When Austin uttered those words, both Austin and Bella suddenly gave each other a meaningful glance and nodded like they came into a silent understanding.

Roar!

The Tanker bellowed an angry roar as it swung its massive fist towards one of the annoying ants that continued to pester it like flies!

Whoosh!

"Whoa!"

Moving around the Tanker like an agile cat, the huge fist suddenly came swinging at Sarge, and it forced him to stop as he stumbled backwards trying to dodge it from the unusual angle it came from.

Roar!

"Look out!"

And as a predator, seeing Sarge stumbling backwards like a prey caught in a trap, it quickly rushed towards the man and followed it by another swing of his massive fist!

"Look out!"

"Sh*t!"

Both the Lieutenant and Sarge yelled at the same, and the latter quickly rolled to the side to dodge, dodging the attack by a hair's breadth!

Bang!

"Stop ignoring me, you bastard!"

Bam! Bam! Bam!

The Lieutenant charged towards the Tanker and made a bold move by jumping on its back and started raining punches on the back of its head as the monster on the receiving end of the attacks raged like a mad bull trying to throw him off!

Roar!

The Tanker tried to grab him from its back, but because of too much bodybuilding, its arms can't even bend backwards!

It seriously needs to stop bulking up and slim down instead!

"Sir, blade! Use your blade!" Sarge yelled loudly while watching the zombie trying to get the Lieutenant off its back, and at the same time, Bella and others also didn't just watch as they helped to clear any distractions from around the two.

Shing! Stab!

Roaaar!

"Ahh-holy sh*t!"

Lieutenant yelled in horror as he held on for dear life on his blade lodge deep in the zombie's flesh, his attack caused it to become even more maddened when it felt a foreign object entering its body and causing severe pain!

Roaaaar!

"Sir, hold on! Sh*t!"

Sarge wanted to lend a hand, but the Tanker suddenly going into rage mode had quickly thrown away all their plans as he could only keep moving around the zombie while dodging the monster that moved unpredictably while randomly swinging its arms around its madness!

"Quick! Keep your distance away from it!" Bellowed Bella when she first noticed that Tanker was madly moving towards their direction!

"S-sh*t!'

So Bella, along with the others, quickly scattered into multiple directions as the monster rushed past them like a moving sports car and slammed itself towards one of the buildings!

Kaboom!

And like a grenade going off, the Tanker crashed into a building producing a sound no weaker than a grenade exploding!

"T-that was close!"

But before that happened though, the Lieutenant quickly pulled his blade out from the monster and jumped off from it as he landed on the ground with a somersault.

Thud! Thud!

It wasn't long when the silhouette of the monster emerged from the hole, with one arm grabbing one side of the hole and debris falling on its body, it just stood there and stopped moving as the monster looked at the pesky humans before its eyes, especially towards the person who had wounded it!

ROOOAR!

"Crap, we're in trouble"

Its actions that were so far away from the form quickly made the Lieutenant belatedly realize that the Tanker before them seems to be stronger and seems to possess little intelligence than its counterparts that they had encountered before.

"Sir, it seems this one…is different from the ones we had met before. We should think of a way to retreat"

Sarge hurriedly ran beside his commanding officer and offered the suggestion of retreating as he had also noticed something different from the monster before them, especially now that it just continued standing there and watching them, so far off from their usual traits of just rampaging around like a mad Hulk.

The Lieutenant looked at his comrade from the corner of his side and considered his suggestion.

After all, they were strictly ordered to immediately prioritize their safety the moment they encountered something they can't understand, or just from something that reeks the smell of danger.

"Alright, take the others with you and slowly make your way to the bus and immediately head back without me"

."Roger that" replied Sarge, he didn't even hesitate or even question him while he's staying behind.

Meanwhile, from another perspective.

"What's happening? Why is it just standing there and looking at us?" Wondered Bella after killing an ordinary zombie by striking its head with her knife.

"What's happening sir?" asked Darius the moment he saw Sarge running over towards them.

Sarge didn't immediately answer him and instead turned his attention to the rest of the people said, "I'll fill you in later, let's hurry up to the bus and leave"

After saying those words, he quickly made a run towards the direction of where their bus is at!

The other looked at each other for a second before running after the soldier.

Bella and Darius quickly caught up to the soldier and the former asked, "Sir, what about the Lieutenant?! Are we leaving him behind?!"

"Just shut up and hurry the hell up!"

Sarge didn't bother answering her and just shut her down, and finally a couple of moments later, the group arrived at the bus unimpeded as the former quickly sat down on the driver seat and started the bus with a turn of the key.

"This is crazy! Are we seriously leaving him behind, and you call yourselves soldiers?!"

Angered, Bella stood at the side and confronted him as she just can't believe that they call themselves soldiers, but would actually abandon one of their own to save their own skin.

"Bella, if you don't know what you're talking about, then you better shut that mouth of yours before I smack it to the side"

Finally reaching the limit of his patience, Sarge glared at her menacingly and continued to drive away, ignoring her.

"W-why you!"

"Stop it, Bella. I think they know what they're doing"

Bella was immediately incensed as she immediately raised her fist towards Sarge, but Darius who had been standing at the side and watching the commotion quickly caught her first, grabbed her and slowly pulled her to the back of the bus to calm her down.

"Let me go! Darius! J-just one! Let me just punch him once! Goddammit!"

"Calm down, getting angry at this point is useless. Besides, didn't we also follow him in the end?"

Hearing the latter part of his words, Bella just glared at him in silence as she also doesn't have anything to say about it, so she just snorted in annoyance that made Darius smile awkwardly.

Then he turned his head around to look behind them from the rear window and thought to himself while gripping his fists, 'I just hope they know what they're doing. That large zombie just became weird after it smashed itself against the building, and its gaze seems to be even thinking how to tackle us, the problem, and a behavior that should not be ignored. Sadly, we realized it too late that it even forced the Lieutenant to stay behind'
