Shinobi From Hell

Chapter 70: Last Boss

[Flashback]

Klautz pulled his bow to shoot at the beast. But his fingers shook and so did his pupils. One of his friends was being eaten alive by its fangs.

"Ahhhh!" She screamed as her legs sank inside the beast's mouth. Little by little, she was pulled more and more inside its jaws. Her rasping breaths and her building eyes couldn't compromise the primal screams she gave off whenever there was enough air in her lungs. She reached out both of her hands trying to pull herself out. Her hands squirmed about as she tried to grab onto something. Her nails sand into a small groove on the concrete floor to offer resistance.

*Tick*

But that didn't last long as her nails broke off in seconds as they started bleeding.

*Scream*

"Please help me," she whimpered as she gasped for air. The pain that she was feeling in her legs as she was being eaten alive was comparable to nothing!

But all her teammates could do was deliver ineffective attacks on the beast which didn't help in any way to free her from her misfortune.

Luckily she grabbed onto a rock protruding from the concrete floor. She clasped it with both of her hands, not wanting to let it go and literally enough her life depended on it. She mustered up the last bit of her strength as she pulled herself using the rock. She gritted her teeth as she closed her eyes shut. That pain that she was feeling from the lower part of her body was incomparable to anything else.

*Crack*

Bones cracked as she got out of the beast's mouth.

Her ear-piercing scream didn't pass unnoticed as she had come out with no legs on her. Her legs dangled from the beast's mouth. Normally it isn't so simple to dismantle one's limbs But the beast's jaw added with its saliva did the job.

She turned around but to her horror, the beast still hadn't forgotten her taste. The fear that gripped her heart made even the pain she felt seem like nothing. Her full body trembled making her so incoherent that she couldn't even scream as before.

The woman mustered all of her strength to pull herself away… away from the beast. Her legs bleeding, painting the ruins with her blood as she dragged herself through the floor with the strength in her arms alone. But alas, how far could she go from the beast in such an injured state?

She could only pull herself a metre or so before the beast gulped her down.

*Screams* She gave one last scream before disappearing into the beast's mouth.

The beast swallowed her down. It didn't even bother to churn her in its mouth. Nor did it bother the melees attacking it as it feasted on its delicious meal. Its belly bulged as an undigested human body could be made out from within it. With time the bulge sank lower and lower as she was converted to food.

It was a horrid battle. The beast was more than powerful to wipe out the entire team yet by some miracle four of them had survived. Klautz being one of them. In his previous life he might have been the weakest chain of the group but he worked as an archer in those days. Of course in such a battle the melees will do their best to save their archers.

[Flashback ends]

*Gulp*

Klautz vividly remembers that day. Just like today it was his last day in the tutorial zone but it had left a deep impression on him. 'Traumatized' would not be the right word to use for him as Klautz was able to get over those events, thanks to the mental fortitude he had built up later in his life but that doesn't mean he could forget that day.

That is why Klautz had prepared meticulously for today. He had left no stone unturned to ensure that he emerged victorious in the battle.

The sun was overhead. It was almost time… Everyone clutched their weapons. There were fifteen or so participants who had survived till now. The invisible barrier surrounding the safe zone wriggled and everything… the sky, the distant trees all of them turned hazy. Little by little that haziness reverted to normal as everything began to fall back to place. But with the removal of the haziness, a giant worm sprung forth out of thin air.

It had a white body that seemed to be its exoskeleton and had hooks for teeth. With no eyes to speak of makes one wonder what sort of senses it relies on.

"Screech!"

"What kind of monstrosity is that?" Some yelped, some gasped while others squeaked. There was a giddy atmosphere amongst them.

They had seen many monsters before but none of this size. It was more than six times the size of an adult male. Under its presence it was like as if they had frozen

"Shielders protect the archers. Everyone else comes with me" Bill shouted. That battle had begun as soon as they ran towards the beast just like how the beast charged towards them. They were lost in their own fears but Bill's voice helped them bring back to reality.

*clash* *Clang*

The battle had begun. Klautz stood unfazed, as he applied the black serpent's poison to his blade. It was a low-rank poison for sure and it had failed against the fiery ape in the last stage of Trial of Control but it was always better to have something than nothing.

"Screech"

Klautz took a run, when he was close enough he swung his body in the air. His body flipped a turn as it stabbed the beast with his sword. Its exoskeleton cracked as the poison began to seep into its vessels.

*Swish*
