Eight Stories [Two Talking Backs]

The boulevard on the western side of Melbail is vibrant with traded goods from the port town of Pascum.

At noon, some people leave food stalls to do business on the streets, so the aroma of drifting aromas stimulated their appetite.

Speaking of the current time, a bell just rang announcing twelve o'clock at noon.

In a painting with stalls lined up, two men are sitting in a chair eating dinner.

"- Right... in the demonic raid... well, your family... is Mr. Milley and Lim safe?

A dog beast man with a fuzzy hair-covered ear drooling over the side of his head uttered such words.

The tail behind the waist is also about to drape off the chair and rub the ground. The garment, which encloses a very wide body, is a merchant garment embroidered in exotic braided fabric. In view of the high value there, we can see that we are doing business well.

"Oh, no, Miley is... dead. I was able to escape safely with my daughter Rim... and a few others."

The dog beast man - it was the werewolf beast man who returned so to Dore's inquiry.

Compared to Dore, who can't even flatter a tight body, its body was trained to fully demonstrate the unique physical abilities of the Beast Man.

Wearing leather armor and assuming to fight, the face of the outgoing man is a strong surface that may be called the beast surface, but the tone emitted is mild.

Bodies over 190 cm tall are one head bigger than Dore, even when sitting.

Wolf Beast Man - Arnold looked slightly at his wife's death with his mouth.

Finger the old wound in one ear, exhale only once and wait for Dore's next word.

"... I'm sorry. I didn't know such a big deal had happened, and it was frivolous of you to invite me to talk about it in the past. Damn, if I were there then..."

Dore had lived in the same village as Arnold in the past, but he lost his parents early, and a little over a decade ago, he decided to leave the village and become a merchant.

Not a bad spin in the head, and Dore, who does things in good order, has spent days consolidating the ground as a merchant, but never returned to the village.

I occasionally reunited with a former friend in Melbail because of what happened yesterday.

The two happy to reunite set the stage for us to report back to each other today.

"Ha ha, whatever... what can you do with such a relaxed body. The demons would have killed me trying to get you away."

Laughing off his friend's words lavishly, Arnold slaps Bashibashi and Dore on the back with one hand.

"Ugh... geezho... what are you talking about... me too, used to be there..."

Dore, who coughs up with a shock to his back, argues.

but it does...... my belly has popped out that I wouldn't have been working out for a long time and it doesn't seem like a very useful personnel for the fight.

"It used to be, didn't it? I've been working as a merchant for over a decade, and if you jump out in front of the Demons, they'll kill you instantly."

"You're going to say a lot. All right, I'll work out again, too."

"- Don't, no... don't"

A word is emitted to the breathing dole, a word stationary with a voice containing extremely serious colors.

"Hey, what the sudden..."

Dore looks back at the change of tone with surprise.

"No... sorry. You just have to keep living as a merchant. You've got to be kidding me, but if you're wrong, don't think about the Demons like this."

"... oh"

What Arnold meant by complaining with a serious look - Dore immediately understood that.

Wolf beasts sitting next to each other are never weak. Rather strong.

If that was the old story, I could have fought equally there myself, but it's been over a decade since then.

Arnold gained more strength and himself faded.

Yet a friend said it was best to help one daughter.

I've never actually been relative to the Demons, but the horror did come through.

I mean - my friend sitting next to me is showing me the bottom of his heart.

"- By the way, what happened to Rim? I'd like to say hello."

To change the air in the field, Dore deliberately tries to change the subject a little bit.

Earlier, my daughter should be safe.

Not that I can say Arnold, but Dore was in love with Millet.

At the end of the day, it was Arnold who was tied to Mirei, but nothing like Dore resenting it.

Because Arnold and Mirei were close enough to bless him honestly.

I only know Dore when Rim was young, but I remember that he looked somewhat like Mirei.

"Because he did look like Mr. Milley... I guess he's beautiful by now. Good, good."

"I hear you're glad you don't look like your father...?

"Hmm? Even if that interpretation fits. He looks like you. Then... that would be a big deal already."

"I bought that fight... I'm gonna slap you back in the lazy body"

"Fine. I'm having trouble getting the merchant to lick his guts... and so, why aren't you here?

Dore asked the question again, enjoying an exchange without any other love, as he had done in the past.

"If I meet you, I have to tell you about when the village was attacked? He hasn't... been able to digest that event in himself yet. Sometimes it happens at night."

"I see."

"So... by now, you'll be enjoying the scenery and everything."

"Hmm? What is that...?

Dore prompts him to continue, wondering about Arnold's face, which loosens his cheeks funny.

"You've met a pretty funny boy since I've been in this city. Age is about the same as rim or a little below...... no, he did say he was a little above or something...... ok"

"Are you the Beast Boy?

"No, it's a human. This is an incredible sword arm from the outside. Even when I first met him, he was strong, but he's dizzy for a short time. Occasionally we take requests together as adventurers, but these days they've also mastered magic. I have my share in physical abilities... but it will be hard to win if you fight."

Dore is a little surprised by Arnold's words.

Because a human boy told me that he would not win by playing this inflexible beast man.

The beast man's physical abilities are quite superior to those of a human being.

On top of that, Arnold is training himself. It's natural to win with physical ability.

Still not winning, does that mean the opponent's skill has reached a step different than Arnold's?

In the first place, few are human but have magical qualities.

Ethnically, elves, dragonuts, demons, etc. are blessed with qualities, and vice versa, beasts and dwarves rarely have anyone who can handle magic.

Whether the humans were located in the middle but still about one in twenty to thirty, Dore explores his own memory.

"Well, some of the boys were awesome...... so how does that relate to Rim?

"At first I asked him to be the talker of the sinking rim because he was close to his age, but how could this be, maybe because of Sage, the rim has recently regained its brightness"

"Is that the boy's name, Sage?

"Oh, I guess by now it's time you and I were having lunch, enjoying the view of the Powdal Wetlands"

I guess he's a good father who's purely happy his daughter is getting better, but only a few pranks sprouted in the dole.

It is a whispering revenge lost in love.

"Hmm, you mean a father approved buddy already?"

"... what?

Dore chases after him just saying it took him a surprise look.

"No, so with Rim... Mr. Sage? but"

"Ha ha, don't be stupid. Those two are just kids."

Raise your voice as if to forcefully laugh off the slightest anxiety in the back of your brain.

"Then I ask... when did you become aware of Mr. Milley as a woman?

……

"You were the same age as the two of us now, weren't you?

All of a sudden, the moment Arnold thought he had a pottery cup in his grip...

Bikibaki...... Pah!

And bounced and flew.

I saw the glass dusted with half a laugh Dore felt the prank had passed and handed the stall owner a few copper coins along with words of apology.

"-Ma, well, it's a joke. As far as I can tell, Sage, you look like a good boy, and you're gonna be fine."

"Oh, yeah, you are"

Though trying not to make him feel upset, Arnold tilted the cup with his mouth, which was only the handle with a slightly trembling hand.

It was a dole watching like that, but the sight stops in the other person's ear.

Part of one ear was missing like a thousand cuts.

"-... hey, that wound..."

"Hmm? This. Oh... this is nothing. It's not a wound from the demon attack. After you left the village."

"Ahhh... tell me that joke earlier... are you okay?

Dore asks questions as he peeks into his friend's face.

Dore is shocked to hear about Miley's death, but Arnold and Rim would be the ones mourning it the most.

The content of stories bouncing off of meeting nostalgic friends really often puts past information out to attract.

Now more than ever, it was a consequence word of fear that it would be burdensome to let a friend who had lost his wife talk about his past.

"Don't worry. I'm already... okay. I do remember those days when I was talking to you, Miley and I were close friends."

……

"It's a little hard right now... but I'm happy at the same time"

"Well, again... why?

Dore, who doesn't immediately understand what that means, looks strange.

"I know a lot about him... Miley. But there could have been a side I didn't even know about. In conversation with you... I remember him and maybe discover a new side."

"... oh"

"I won't be able to see you again - it will be... a pleasure."

Dore put the cup he was leaning on the table and leaked just one word of whining in a leaning position.

"Mr. Milley must have been happy..."

I lost my parents early and left the village for the reason that there was no untrained in my hometown, but the fact that the person I had secretly thought of was bound to a friend also pushed Dore's back, albeit slightly.

I spent more than a decade as a merchant to succeed, and now my feelings stabilized so much that I could think from the bottom of my heart that it would be good if the two of them lived happily ever after.

Still, there is no denying that emotions such as' If you were bound with me and out of the village... 'peeked into your face from the sediment that was precipitating in response to reports of Miley's death.

But that emotion was taken away from Dore's mind.

Now, that's good - and.

"- This wound, yes... was it when Rim was seven? Miley fell asleep sick once. It was" Red Fever. "

Red fever disease is an unexplained wind and earth disease that occurs in the area where Arnold and the others lived and, if affected, will suffer from high fever.

The fever lasts seven days and seven nights, and those with weak resistance can lose their lives.

There were extremely few beasts with magical qualities, and no healing magic users existed in the village.

Even if I were there, I wouldn't want a magical cure if I didn't understand what the cause of the disease is.

However, it is assumed that by frying and drinking moss grown in the armor of a turtle-shaped demon named Meditartos, which lives in the forest, the fever can be reduced symmetrically.

"Sure... normal hot and cold herbs didn't work."

"Yeah, but Meditartos is still a demon that strikes if we get close, even if it's not belligerent. That's pretty strong, too."

"I've seen it, too. That would be... taking moss would be life-threatening."

When Arnold tried to get to the back of the woods, he said Millet had stopped it.

I'll manage on my own without such moss, so don't do anything dangerous, he said.

Arnold worried a lot but eventually nodded at Millet's words and tried to see him on the side.

- Three days went by and it was my daughter Rim who couldn't bear the look of Millet suffering from the fever.

"No tricks for my dad. I'll help you."

They left a letter like that and headed all alone to the woods at night.

Early in the morning, Arnold, having read it, rushed to the woods to chase after him immediately.

When I discovered it, Meditartos' tough jaw was exactly the moment he tried to chew the rim off.

He was scratching his little body, breathing constantly, crying and shouting something.

"So... what happened?

Arnold smiles bitterly back at Dore, who tries to encourage him to continue his story.

"It was really dangerous. This is how me and my daughter are safe now, so that's what I mean. One ear was eaten off...... I also suffered some wounds to my body but could help the rim. This wound belongs to that time."

"Huh, I'm impotent... when I was seven? No."

"I managed to shake off Meditartos and go back to the village, but it's hard to get from there again. Anyway, I'm bloodstained and Rim's not crying. Look at us back home. Mirei was about to fall."

Thinking back to the situation at the time, the beast man gave a slight laugh as he moaned his ears, which were partly missing.

"This is where the rim is awesome. I gave Millet what I was holding onto my palm... what do you think?

"No way, Meditartos moss......?

"Ha ha! I thought you were gonna do it with my daughter."

Miley's face had an odd look that was mated with no anger and no joy, Arnold says.

Rim was first reprimanded for going into the woods on his own, and he was slapped on the cheek, apparently crying even more.

Millet said, 'The decision to make something happen is at least until you can take responsibility for it on your own'.

I was able to bring back the moss because Arnold came to help, and if it were just the rim, I would be sure it would have stuck in Meditartos' belly.

At the time, Rim was crying about what the word meant less than half of the time, but now what?

I hugged the crying rim this time. What Miley said was thank you.

- Thank you.

The way he stroked his head gently and mercifully, the sight earlier that had exposed his anger seemed to be a lie.

"- It's hard to get from here again. Mirei's going down with the fever, and I'm gonna bleed out of the wound. I'm going out. So, it's the end of Rim's crying out again. I got nothing from the other villagers, but that was quite a fuss."

"Well again...... that was tough. Even so, Mr. Millet did that... you were a fine mother. You used to be so impotent about people..."

To a bareback dore who misses the old days, what are you talking about? And Arnold listening back.

"Oh, this may be something you don't know, but when Mr. Milley was little..."

"What... that's... that's not a word he said..."

- With such an old story, Arnold was slightly tearing up his eyeballs as he nodded to bite off every word.

"- I'm sorry, it's just this one."

"Fine. Talking to a friend I haven't seen in a long time is an old story."

When two people talked about it every so often, and time went by quite a bit.

"Okay, why don't we move to a place a little faster but slower where we can drink?

"You... are you okay with your work?

"Oh, no problem today. Let's have a drink."

"... well, then there's just the right place."

A large beast man rises, followed by a slightly rounded dripping eared beast man also takes a seat.

"So, you're doing your business better?

"Quite. I'll tell you more when I get to the store, but I'm making a profit on a deal between the archipelago countries to the west and the Kingdom of Richelle. They also have a policy of favouring dealings with archipelago countries, and long live Master Alberto."

Alberto Teuo Bellado - the name of the lord who rules the area around Melbail.

Even when it comes to lords, he is the fruitful younger brother of Hardin, now King Richelle, and a pattern of reciprocal exchange with the king.

He gave way to Hardin, who excelled in government, without contesting the throne of the king, and himself fell into the throne of the commercial city of Merbail.

It is famous among merchants that they develop dealings with other countries with proven business talent and play a role in enhancing national power.

Alberto, along with Hardin, is also pursuing a policy of favouring dealings with archipelagic countries.

"The Kingdom of Richelle should just cut its hands off with the Suaven Empire. Selling poor quality crops and livestock by force or using dirty measures... that's not business."

"Well, calm down"

"... oh, but well, things will change a little with this preference. Mostly the guys in SUVEN are pissed off because they look down on non-human species. It was because of them that we were driven south to live..."

"All right, all right, Dore. I'll listen to you carefully while you drink, so don't call me that."

"No, that's it for stupidity. Next, let's talk about my first business meeting..."

- Thus, the two beasts walked towards the commercial district.
