NEW YEAR AND AN APOCALYPSE

Chapter 55: BELPHEGOR AND THE MOON

Sellena waited for him to say anything,

She waited for conditions, after all it was her doing,

But not a word of hate came out from his lips,

He was in the brink of collapse, and would rather sit.

The demon assisting him, which to Sellena stood out 'cause of his broken horn,

Only smiled, as he lets Asmo down, while the latter frowned, as if pricked by a thorn,

"You should let him rest, and don't do anything reckless,

Unless...you want to drag him again...in yet another mess,"

His sweet expression turned dark as he spoke his last words,

While Asmodeus winces again feeling his wounds,

The child watched warily, as the now horned devil sat up, wrinkling his expression,

"Asmodeus, I'll patch you up, just turn to that direction,"

The demon looked rather pleased that Sellena was serving him,

She quickly grabbed a clean piece of cloth and water to clean,

While the boy laid on the left side of the bed without much noice,

"Tell me, just why you want to save the boy?"

"What kind of question is that?"

Sellena asked kind of taken aback,

Asmodeus realized his question, and simply shut up,

As Sellena felt her hands shake, from seeing his back.

It felt too bloody to even see the skin,

She could perfectly point, the exact parts of where it's been,

The whip dug deep, and it made her wonder- How could he still be so able to stand it?

After all, this skin looks rather mutilated.

She decided to sew it up to prevent his skin from falling apart,

Asmodeus would make noises from here and then, and it somehow breaks her heart,

He didn't even say anything suggestive, might have been too tired for anything,

But the way he would close his eyes in pain, it was truly heart wrenching.

Asmodeus wondered if she was somehow just doing this,

Maybe a pretend act just to please?

Or if this was kindness he so hoped and miss?

Her movements were slow, gentle, it makes him feel warm,

She was wary and under control, making sure she won't worsen the harm,

"You...you should have just taken the kid and just let me take his place instead,"

"Are you saying you'd rather be dead?"

"I mean...look at this. Your wounds...how can you even stay up with these?"

"It's okay, you're treating me right at least,"

"Hey,"

"Hm?"

"Thank you,"

And in no more than three seconds, Asmodeus knew his ears were now in a red hue.

He wondered why this simple act makes him more bashful,

Than those times he spent with other womans when he was...quite playful,

He was about to speak when he felt her arms wrapped around him,

A back hug from her, it was good, there was no denying.

"A back hug only?"

Asmodeus said, quite jokingly,

"It's so I'm in control, and no funny business, there's a kid here,"

"I can cover his eyes and ears,"

He recieved a light slap on the back of his neck,

And even when he leaned up for a peck,

Sellena showed disinterest,

"Don't make me discard your gained respect,"

Asmodeus simply smiled and rested his head on her lap,

"You still owe me a kiss," then he simply laughed,

Sellena rolled her eyes and gave a quick kiss on the lips,

"That was too quick!"

Furious, Sellena ignored him after saying goodbye,

Although a little bit, she somehow admired how innocent for a moment, was his smile,

Truly he was kinder than what she expected him to be,

Although she still worries of the boy she failed to see.

"What are you curious about?"

"Nothing,"

"Tsk, I know you have doubts,"

"I said...nothing,"

"You want to know about something, huh? You can ask right away. Ask about it if you want,

Your request, I might be able to grant,"

Sellena thought for a moment, and was curious about the demon with one covered eye and a broken horn,

"The demon who escorted you here, is that the way he was born?"

"Ah, the broken horns and his missing eye?

Well..." Asmodeus looked at the ceiling and sigh,

"It's...it's kind of a sad story,"

"Why? What happened to him?"

"Something sad. Something grim,"

...

"Once an angel, Belphegor wanted no time to be wasted so he always wanders the realms with Luna, his companion,

He barely sleeps and would always discover new things, it was his sole ambition,

But since the sun was always shining, and in the night there was nothing,

The angels offered Luna, to make the night much endearing.

Luna was a beautiful woman, with bleach white hair and blue eyes,

She always wear the scarf painted in a beautiful shade of blue,

And that charming gaze of her, that could only be genuine and true.

After hearing the news,

Belphegor pleaded, and the rest was obvious,

Unfortunately Luna was sacrificed to make the moon,

Belphegor then loathed the light, so he always sleeps so soon.

Him losing her felt too much for him to carry,

He failed his duties, and we all seemed to worry,

The old angel who barely stays and sleeps,

Now always curled up in a ball, he wouldn't speak.

The other archangels tried to reason out to him,

But he was so angry, he lashed out to the Seraphims,

His fight resulted in him losing his eye and horn,

And since then, a new version of Belphegor was born.

The now tattered scarf of her he still now wears,

And to even touch it, no one did dare,

Then when Lucifer turned against God, Belphegor took his chance,

After being rejected, of his one demand.

And still grieving even after a thousand years,

He became lazy, and now known as the King of Sleeps,

But dare awake him from his dreams of Luna,

You'll see the secrets of his forbidden Arcana.

He sleeps because it's painful for him to stay awake without her by his side,

Still bitter, lonely, the truth he cannot confide,

Satan might be the most wrathful, but Belphegor's sadness is like no any,

He always have those same look in his eyes,

A mix of hatred, sadness, and hint he's eternally lonely.

He always complains of how the world gained the moon,

But he lost his sun, and half the world,

And no matter what one does, or what one says,

Nothing will change the fact, that all his days would be the same...

No motivation to wake up every morning,

No ambition, to drive him to do something,

And even with all the legions he now rule,

Nothing will change his life painted dull.

He lost her,

And he carries it forever."

...

Sellena felt touched and moved by Asmodeus' narration,

And though she loathed demons, wasn't quite as sure now, given the situation,

He was simply depressed, and too loyal to move on,

A tragic story, she would have never thought of before.

"How about you? What's your story?"

Sellena asked curious of what could be,

The onyx eyes once willing and friendly,

Quickly faded, and covered by a wave of melancholy.

It's as if a sensitive part of him was hit by stone,

His face turned pale, but hid it so not to be shown,

"Maybe next time, I'll tell you my own,"

He said a weak voice, but his heart had been blown.

...

Incoherent growls were heard in the deep part of the palace chambers,

Some prisoners tried to escape and now they were tasked to be fed to the monster,

But with a little thrill of course,

They must run for their lives..

As the devil excitedly enter from the doors.

A creature with horns growing from his forehead,

Drooling quite a lot, sniffing his surrounding straight ahead,

The hungry demon, with three mouths exposing sharp teeth,

Quickly felt excited, as he saw the things he's about to eat.

Walking on all fours, Belzeebub has its back split,

Revealing four hungry tentacle like monsters, barely containing themselves from the lavish feast,

The scratching sounds of his nails grew more and more louder,

As he approached the poor trembling people.

They ran away, from all directions they could think of,

But try as may, they only made the demon laugh,

He ran as fast, and one by one one was gulped,

But from every body eaten, it seems like none were enough.

He wipes his bloody face, as he moved on to the next,

And soon the fifty people, became less and less,

They may scream, hide, and even fight back,

But none of them, could survive his attacks.

He opened his mouth wide, into inhuman lengths,

Overpowering them with his claws, and incredible strength,

They may try to squirm, to try and escape,

But before they could make more moves,

It was already too late.

His long sharp teeth already made a killing bite,

And it's useless to struggle, to dare even fight,

Yet despite the fact, that there's one more left hiding,

He was still hungry, to find the last one, he was very dying.

Lucifer watched from above,

It was truly fascinating to see the hunting of Beelzebub,

Fast, animalistic, yet beautiful the same,

Watching him eat, seems almost like a game.

The hungry devil, even from far away,

Lucifer could see, from his orange eyes that would always stray-

Vivid in the darkness, how fun to see him go,

The King of Gluttony, how unfortunate if you see him so...

The last survivor, Robert to be exact,

Hides behind one of the pillars, praying for a better luck,

He just so happened, to try and get her sister back,

But how come now he waits for fate, as movements shift in the dark.

Beelzebub sniffed the air,

Wondering if he was there,

And when he heard a few heavy breathing,

He slowly approached,

Careful not to disturb the prey.
