“I’ll attend to Chuyang. You go home and rest. I’ll go over earlier. If you’re here, I can’t take good care of you.”

“I’m not a child. I don’t need you to take care of me.” The more Ji Liunian wanted to send Chuxia off, the more Chuxia was reluctant to go.

In her eyes, Ji Liunian wanted her to go to create opportunity for him to get along with Xu Zhiyin.

She would definitely not give them this opportunity!

“But I’ll be worried about you!” Ji Liunian tugged Chuxia’s hand, trying to send her off.

Chuxia stopped and lowered her head. She squeezed some tears to wet her eyes. She asked sorrowfully, “In your eyes, am I unpresentable? Since I’ve come back, you keep me at home every day and don’t allow me to meet people.”

“…” Her sad tone of voice immediately won Ji Liunian’s sympathy. Ji Liunian stopped and felt he had wronged her. “I’m only afraid my parents would come looking for trouble when they see you.”

“I said I’m not afraid! They can only scold me, what else could they do? If you’re afraid, I won’t involve you! Do I have no freedom to come here at all?”

After that, Chuxia’s tears gushed down from her eyes.

Ji Liunian’s heart softened when he saw this. “Don’t cry, I’m doing this for your sake. If you don’t wish to go, you may stay.”

Ji Liunian couldn’t bear to see Chuxia cry. This was the weakness he had brought from the past and because of this weakness, Chuxia could control him.

“Young Master!” A servant came urging again.

Ji Liunian looked at Chuxia and sighed helplessly. “Then, please take care of yourself. Call me if there’s anything. I’ll go and take a look and will be back soon.”

He let go of Chuxia’s hand and went to see his parents.

Chuxia stayed in the courtyard. She slowly wiped her tears away and tidied her long, black and wavy hair. She looked elegant again and a mere trace of a smile was found in her eyes. She didn’t look like she had just cried.

To her, tears were never an expression of weakness but rather a tool to achieve one’s goal.

Ji Liunian walked toward his parents. “Father, Mother.”

“Where have you been?” Although she was blaming him, Madam Ji’s facial expression was not that solemn.

She was a kind and loving mother and loved her son.

Ji Liunian replied, “I was chatting with a friend.”

“Zhiyin is here today. Please coax her! You’ve done so many things to hurt her in the past. You should treat her nicely.” Madam Ji felt it was better to keep Xu Zhiyin whom they know, than find another wife for Ji Liunian.

Today, Ji Liunian was obedient. “Alright, Mother.”

He raised his head and saw Xu Zhiyin standing not far from him. She was chatting with someone she knew.

Although Xu Zhiyin was not dazzlingly beautiful and resplendent like Chuxia, she was a likeable person in the eyes of the elders. It was due to her non-arrogance and inborn kindness that she was likeable.

At the thought of the incomplete conversation with her, Ji Liunian had the urge to walk over to her to re-explain everything clearly.

When he was about to walk toward Xu Zhiyin, her attention was on the message she just received on her mobile phone.

She looked at her phone and frowned. Then, she walked out of the house, as if to meet someone.

‘I’ve something to tell you. Please meet me at the fountain!’

The message was from Chuxia. The fountain was in the Ji family’s courtyard.

Both Xu Zhiyin and Chuxia were regular visitors of Ji Residence and were familiar with the building. This place felt like home to these two girls.

She walked along the stairs to the courtyard and Chuxia was there at the fountain.

Tonight, Chuxia wore a red low-cut dress. She looked beautiful and sexy. From far, she looked like a poppy in the night.

She had a cigarette between her fingers and an unnoticeable, sensible and elegant tattoo on her neck.

When she heard sounds of footsteps, Chuxia raised her head. “I didn’t think you would come.”

Xu Zhiyin got down from the last step. “Didn’t you send the message because you are sure I’ll come?”

She didn’t know why she came to see Chuxia. The hatred in her heart had probably exceeded the rationality she should have. The more she hated Chuxia, the more she wanted to know what she was doing.

Chuxia tapped her cigarette. The edges of her dress glided in the night. With a confident smirk, she said, “Because I know you are as naïve as you always were! The more you hate a person, the more you mind what the person does.”

Xu Zhiyin walked toward her and stopped two meters away. She thought she, as described by Chuxia, was dumb.

Of course, if she was not dumb, she wouldn’t appear in front of Chuxia now.

She looked at Chuxia. “Why did you ask me out?”

“I just wanted to see if you are feeling happy.” Chuxia skimmed through Xu Zhiyin. After a while, she asked, “Aren’t you happy that Liunian suggested to remarry you?”

Until now, Xu Zhiyin had not been able to respond to what Ji Liunian meant.

He said he wanted to remarry her and that he liked her!

She dared not believe in what Ji Liunian said and treated it as a joke.

She didn’t expect Chuxia to mention it again…

Xu Zhiyin said indifferently, “What if I’m happy and what if I’m unhappy? Didn’t you say I’m not good enough for Ji Liunian and no man as outstanding as Ji Liunian would like me? What are you worrying about now?”

Chuxia smiled with a confident look. “Do you think Ji Liunian would remarry you?”

“I don’t care about this.” Actually, she cared but didn’t want Chuxia to notice.

“You really don’t care?” Chuxia raised her brows and walked toward Xu Zhiyin. “You dare not care, right? Because you know the person Liunian likes is me!”

“…” Xu Zhiyin held on to her skirt. Her palm was sweating.

Chuxia’s words were as sharp as a knife, slitting her disguise.

“Did you know? The baby I lost is not actually Liunian’s.” Chuxia came closer and whispered into Xu Zhiyin’s ears.

Xu Zhiyin was stunned. “What did you say?”

“Haha…” Chuxia stood back in her original place and laughed. “Surprised?”

She knew if she had not appeared in time today, Ji Liunian would have spilled the beans.

It would be better if she said it herself.

Xu Zhiyin was not only surprised, she thought it was unbelievable. “The baby is not Liunian’s?”

“That’s right, it’s not his,” Chuxia affirmed.

Xu Zhiyin’s fury welled up, “Chuxia, how can you use the baby to deceive people? Liunian loves you so deeply. You’re too much!”

“Huh…” When she saw Xu Zhiyin in a fury, Chuxia said sarcastically, “Why are you so anxious? Of course, Liunian knows the baby is not his.”

“He knows?” If he knew, why did he still want to divorce her and treat Chuxia so well?
