What she said was sincere. Ji Liunian who sat beside her could sense her sincerity. Although he did not intend to remarry her, he still felt uncomfortable when Xu Zhiyin declined.

She declined because of the man she now had?

They had just divorced for a couple of days and she had a new target? Had she had another man before they divorced?

So, when he suggested the divorce, it freed her instead?

Due to this discomfort, he kept staring at Xu Zhiyin in silence.

Now, it seemed everyone was expecting Xu Zhiyin and Ji Liunian to remarry but Xu Zhiyin was the one who didn't want to do it.

Just at the awkward moment, Ji Liunian's phone rang.

He looked at his phone. It was Chuxia.

He stood up and said, "I'll go out to answer a call."

Other than Xu Zhiyin who sat by his side, nobody else knew the call was from Chuxia.

When Ji Liunian left, Madam Xu took the opportunity to persuade Xu Zhiyin, "We have discussed about your remarrying. How can you decline? By declining, aren't you making things difficult for your parents-in-law?"

"No worries, we are fine. Although we hope Zhiyin and Liunian can be back together, if Zhiyin feels pressured, we won't force her."

Xu Zhiyin took a look at Ji Liunian who had left the dining hall and thought of Chuxia's name on his phone display. The name irritated her and made her recall Chuxia's arrogant look as well as how she had framed her.

She looked at the few elderly who were staring at her and said, "If Liunian agrees to remarry, I have no objections."

"Really?" Madam Xu looked at her daughter who had finally gotten the idea straightened out after being scolded by her.

Xu Zhiyin replied, "We have been married for three years and I have gotten used to this identity… and I don't want the news of our divorce to bring shame to the Ji family."

"Good girl." Madam Ji praised Xu Zhiyin while looking at her.

After just a little while, Ji Liunian came back after his call.

He sat down. Madam Ji then told him, "Liunian, Zhiyin has agreed to remarry."

Ji Liunian froze as he looked at Zhiyin. He thought he had gotten the wrong message, "What?"

"I think the suggestion for us to remarry is not bad. Since you have no objection, let's remarry!" While Xu Zhiyin spoke, she kept looking at Ji Liunian. Hadn't he been pretending to be nice just now? She wanted to see his response.

True enough, after hearing what she said, Ji Liunian's eyes turned cold. He looked at Xu Zhiyin and asked in disbelief, "Are you sure?"

Although he was trying hard to control himself, Xu Zhiyin could still see his nervousness.

When her guess was right and when she found that he was actually pretending, Xu Zhiyin's smile widened but the pain in her heart increased. She added on purpose, "Yes, I've thought about it and I feel there's nothing bad about remarrying."

"Can you please come out for a while? We'll discuss outside." Ji Liunian was smart. He would never utter extreme words to Xu Zhiyin in front of his family members.

Before Xu Zhiyin could react, her hands had been grabbed by Ji Liunian. He tugged her arm and both of them went out of the house.

Xu Zhiyin was forced to walk behind him. She was careful to avoid stepping on his feet. Ji Liunian dragged her all the way down the stairs into the garden.

The night was dark and the moon was shining, enveloping the entire Xu's residence.

Ji Liunian looked at Xu Zhiyin. "You told me you have another man yesterday and will not remarry me. Why did you go back on your words today?"

Xu Zhiyin's lips curved slightly, "Didn't you say you would like to remarry me in front of Father and Mother just now? I thought you were genuine about it…"

"How could I be genuine?" Ji Liunian was dispirited, "Was I not clear when I suggested divorce? Zhiyin, what do you want?"

"You're right! How could you be genuine? Since you won't remarry me, then why do you want to say such things in front of Father and Mother? Why did you push all the responsibilities to me? You don't wish to offend your family members, me neither." She had lost him and all she had left was her family members. She didn't want her family members to hate her. She looked at Ji Liunian, puzzled, "You never were a person who would run away from responsibilities and would not be contemptible to push the responsibility to me like this time. Why do you want to create misunderstanding in front of Father and Mother? Why do you want them to feel I'm the one who wronged our relationship?"

"…" Ji Liunian pursed his lips tightly, not replying Xu Zhiyin or rather, he didn't know how to reply.

Xu Zhiyin understood. "You did this for Chuxia's sake, didn't you? Chuxia is back and you're afraid Father and Mother would know you divorced because of her. Everything you did is to protect Chuxia, right?"

"I'm sorry." Ji Liunian who was initially bold had now lowered his head, disheartened, "You are aware that everyone is gossiping right now, accusing Chuxia as the third party who spoilt our relationship. My parents don't like her… I have no choice. Zhiyin, both of you were good friends in the past. Chuxia didn't treat you badly last time. Can you please help us? Chuxia had just lost her baby. You won't want to see her forced into a corner, would you?"

"Your relationship with her has nothing to do with me. If you wish to be with her, please don't drag me in. I don't want to be the scapegoat, especially for Chuxia." If Chuxia did not frame her in front of Ji Liunian, she wouldn't hate Chuxia so much but now, every time she heard Chuxia's name, she felt uncomfortable.

Ji Liunian's dark eyes stared at her. "You're the one I trust most. I've never begged from you. We were in a relationship for three years. Can you please help us, for my sake?"

"Three years of relationship…" Xu Zhiyin repeated those few words and thought it was funny, "Yes, we had been husband and wife for three years in our relationship. Now, you're begging me to help you to be together with her? I know it's difficult for her as she just lost her baby and is accused to be the third party, but do you know it's difficult for me too?"

She had been abandoned by her husband and her husband had been stolen by her cousin. She was also in a difficult position. She was now a laughing stock in others' eyes. Whenever she was out in the street and met someone she knew, one after another came to inquire about their divorce and hurt her wound on purpose.

Was she better off than Chuxia?

At least, Chuxia still had Ji Liunian. What about her?
