Mr. Handsome I Love You

Chapter 40:Ch 40: The wine

She smiled. It was kind of nice to see that he had that human trait. Closing her eyes, she leaned back in the leather seat as the car slid away from the curb remembering that the man did spend the night with her because she was distraught refusing to leave. He also took over her Brother's arrangements when she couldn't find her wits enough to write her name.

He took care of her. Never in her life had that ever happened. Joseph tried, but he had to work to support her and wasn't able to give her that parental affection on top of everything else, so she was still lonely.

But, Owen seemed to fill that loneliness, and give her a sister as a bonus. He may not love her, but he was trying to make her feel special.

She was sure he'd never allowed a woman so close before as he said and that is why he had difficulty with it. First, he could be so warm, then that cool drape would come between them.

It seemed the only time that he would let down the curtain is when they were touching. So, she decided with a slight smile, she'd make sure she touched him more. *** It was late when Owen came home. It was just past eleven in the evening when she heard the door open.

Abigail had changed into pink and white pajama bottoms with a pink tank top and curled up on the sofa with a glass of wine after everyone else had gone to bed. She managed to find his stereo and his collection of classical music.

Bach, she loved Bach. Then she turned on the gas fireplace sat down and relaxed. It was a wonderfully soothing atmosphere and she could get used to it.

She said shaken by his words and took the opportunity to tear her eyes from him. Did he mean the wine? Part of her was hoping not.

She set down hers and got up and went to the kitchen. She poured him a glass, paused while looking at the half-empty bottle, shrugged and took it back with her.

He was already sitting on the sofa next to where she was with his feet up on the coffee table and his arm slung across the back. She hesitated for a moment until he patted the cushion beside him. Smiling, she handed him his glass and sat down.

"Thank you." He took a drink. Then looked at her, "I never knew your hair was this long." His lean fingers closed over a lock and rolled it between them, "You always wore it up. Even when we were in bed together that night you had it twisted up."
