Marvel’s Superman

Chapter 277 Everyone is Bob, I have a dream

As we all know, America is a country of immigrants.

It has also always prided itself on being ethnically inclusive and multicultural.

Freedom, Democracy, Full of Opportunity...

This is a beautiful illusion created by the upper class and the political elite.

It seems that as long as you reach this land, you can live a better life and start a new life.

But just as the dream is always awakened by the cold reality, the bubble is always punctured by the cruel status quo.

Many people from the bottom of the ocean came here, only to find that the so-called "American Dream" is just a complete lie.

They still do the hardest jobs, receive the lowest wages, and are oppressed, ostracized, and seen as thieves of opportunity.

Special environment, special soil, can naturally bear different fruits.

In the 1950s and 1960s, racial violence was nothing new.

In 1917, conflict broke out in St. Louis.

The cause was a black driver who was speeding, changed lanes at will, and was caught by a white policeman. During the period, there were physical conflicts and violent acts, which triggered a siege.

It then deteriorated, intensified, and turned into a fight.

The gunshots sounded, and some black people fell to the ground, causing large-scale riots.

After the incident, the government dispatched 16,000 soldiers of the National Guard to take to the streets to suppress it, and it was quelled.

During this period, 312 houses were destroyed, 48 people were killed and more than 100 injured.

This is the beginning of turmoil.

Just two years later, in Chicago in 1919, the same vicious incident occurred, killing 38 people, injuring 537 people, and causing property damage as high as more than two million dollars.

Racial conflict, this wave intensified, like a spreading plague, appeared in many cities such as Detroit and New York in the same year.

Therefore, the beautiful scenery of this country of lighthouses has actually been repeated many times in history.

Party politics has led to the tearing of society, and the general election every four years is just a game in which one group of elites replaces another group of elites and takes turns in the game.

People either choose one jerk who is pleasing to the eye or another who is not so pleasing to the eye.

What appears to be a democratic choice actually makes no sense for minorities and marginalized people.

Therefore, they can only vent out every once in a while.

In this way, express your dissatisfaction.

For example, in 1916, the black leader Dubos said that "violence is the most effective way for blacks and other minorities to escape the oppression of whites."

This sentence was later widely recognized by the black community. Every time something that was discriminated against fermented and expanded, they would take to the streets to protest and start a "zero-dollar purchase" activity.

This situation will not be alleviated until the appearance of the black pastor Martin Luther King Jr.

The latter led the nonviolent civil rights movement, calling on blacks to organize and have a chance to march and protest, rather than simply use violence.

Of course, all of the above is an exposition of history.

At this point in time, Martin Luther King Jr. is still serving as the assistant pastor at a church in Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Seventeen years after he became a black leader and delivered that famous "I have a dream" speech.

However, a rights-defense movement of black people, ethnic minorities, and marginalized people, which has never appeared in history, is a gathering of heroes and superstars, but it is slowly unfolding in a vigorous manner.

"I support Bob! It's a persecution of black people! Those damn bastards! Suits, big-shot shit elites who are trampling our lives!"

A black elder brother yelled angrily at the camera, speaking very rhythmically, like singing rap.

"I support Bob too! There's no shame in being gay! We need to be treated right too! Burn those prejudiced guys!"

A well-dressed middle-aged man with foundation on his face held a sign.

"Bob is innocent! He is like those abused and abandoned animals, unable to resist the brutality of humans! He deserves justice!"

A member from the Animal Rescue Alliance said with tears in his eyes.

"God bless Bob, he's a good man."

A religious man blessed.

The interview footage streamed on the TV, and in just one day, the otherwise unknown Bob became a household name.

Then, a march that gradually expanded in size took place.

Enthusiastic and involved people who eat melon took to the streets, even though they didn't know Bob and didn't care about affirmative action.

But since everyone is doing it, what's the harm in joining in.

In this way, the inner sense of justice can also be demonstrated.

If neighbors and friends ask about it in the future, it can also add a little more talk.

As a result, more and more people came in at the entrance of the Essex Building in Manhattan.

The surrounding traffic was nearly paralyzed, and even the policemen who came to maintain order and police cars were stopped outside.

This kind of battle gave Mr. Omen a headache.

He has always kept a low profile, avoiding public appearances.

The sudden exposure and becoming the focus made Mr. Omen at a loss.

He called the White House for the first time, the president's private line was connected, and there was a voice of blame——

"What's going on? Nathaniel, I told you that it's okay to catch mutants, but don't make a big deal of it and cause trouble."

In the brainwashing of the President by Kang the Conqueror, Mr. Omen was set as the latter's best friend and most trusted helper.

"I don't know what's going on either. It's not like some kind of mutant protest march with black people, gay people, animal rights and religious people...I don't understand why they're so excited? It's about them. It doesn't matter at all!"

Mr. Omen expressed confusion. For the guy named Bob, the mutant became the most inconspicuous label on him.

"Respond as soon as possible, issue a clarifying statement, and tell New Yorkers through the media that you have nothing to do with this persecution scandal."

The president's thoughts were clear, and he said solemnly: "Even if a similar incident did happen, then Essex Bio and the government must be unaware."

"It's all handed over to the outsourced team, who committed this heinous crime, and is a... mad temp."

Mr. Omen wrote down silently, then said a few words before hanging up.

He walked to the floor-to-ceiling window and looked down at the crowded area, with a hint of coldness on the corner of his mouth.

Government backing, official floor washing, and a rabble-gathered parade will not shake the foundations of Essex Bio.

"Hmph, it's a little mess."

Mr. Omen watched the farce with contempt, waiting for it to end.

...

...

"This is the beginning."

Luke slowly cut the beef on the plate with a knife and fork, and Howard sat across from him.

"Mr. Omen and the federal government have underestimated that the problem of racism is a powder keg stacked together that, when ignited, will explode with astonishing destructive power."

In the 1950s and 1960s, urban racial violence in the United States was mainly concentrated between blacks and whites.

Its roots lie in the political oppression and economic exploitation of blacks by whites under the historical apartheid system.

This led to an increasingly strong and extreme black nationalist sentiment in the 1950s.

Robert Williamsmin, the black *** leader who is currently active in major cities, has long made it clear-

"We cannot tolerate those who have done us justice in court. We must punish them. If lynching is necessary to curb lynching, then we are willing to do so."

"Our only logical and successful answer is to counter mass organised violence with mass organised violence..."

"Molotov cocktails, lye and sulfuric acid bombs can all be widely used, and the self-defense battle of minorities will surely be won."

These are the opinions of the black leader.

In fact, before Martin Luther King Jr., every so-called "leader" advocated "black power" through violence.

The simple and rude way is not only in line with the way of thinking of black people, but also can quickly accumulate popularity.

"You plan to turn this farce into an affirmative action?"

Howard realized that Luke didn't just want to win the public opinion and throw Essex Bio into the dust.

"How is it possible, I didn't intend to be a public opinion leader, and I didn't want to win votes - even if I did, it would be to unite the white people of the elite, and they are the votes every president needs."

Luke shrugged and chuckled, "I just exposed the country's problems for everyone to see."

"Cleveland, New York, Chicago, Washington, Philly and Miami ... there are incidents of minority conflict almost every year."

"Blacks, Palestinians, Hispanics...extreme nationalism is starting to spread."

"Bob was the fuse, and the mutants were an excuse, they ignited people's anger, and Essex Bio became the target."

Howard was thoughtful, looking in the direction of the Essex Building through the glass window.

The night was getting darker, but the crowd of people gathered continued unabated.

Someone even started giving a speech, it was Robert Williamsmin, the black leader who advocated violence.

Summarize his hoarse, impassioned speech.

The general idea is that black people need equal rights, a legal status that is not discriminated against, treated differently, and not exploited and persecuted.

The focus is on more jobs, a better education, and the eligibility to run for president -- the last one is the key.

"I just put a person named Bob into the public eye. He has a lot of labels on him, and those who have interests will use labels related to themselves to carry out some ... activities."

Luke wiped the corners of his mouth. Robert Williamsmin might be the first to stand up, but he won't be the last.

Sure enough, it didn't take long for a gay man from Chicago to speak up.

She is a woman who speaks of the weakness of the gay community while calling for women's rights——

"This incident made me tremble with anger. I was sweating all over my body on a hot day, and my hands and feet were cold. Can this country get better?"

"As a woman and a homosexual, how can I live to satisfy those 'mainstream people'? Society is full of discrimination and injustice against us. When will marginalized people like me truly stand up?"

Hearing this, the women who were originally in charge of eating melons immediately joined the protest team.

The crowd outside was divided into different circles unknowingly.

"I only have one question."

Howard watched for a while, then looked away.

"How did you find that... Bob?"

Luke smiled slightly and replied, "He doesn't exist."

"To be precise, there is a guy named Bob. He is an Epsilon-class mutant, that is, the kind with genetic defects."

"He was caught last week by Essex Bio and died in the laboratory."

"But this Bob is not gay, even though he's been with a few hippies, he's not an animal protectionist, even though he has a rabbit, he's not a religious person..."

"Those aren't really important. The key is that he was drinking, taking drugs, degenerating, and being at the bottom of the society."

Howard seemed to understand and frowned: "Bob represents the bottom, those who are struggling in the mud, they will resonate with this image."

"bingo."

Luke snapped his fingers and smiled: "Even if Mr. Omen investigates and tells the truth, it won't help."

"People will blame this country's policies for Bob's fall, the discrimination against blacks by whites, the exclusion of homosexuals by the mainstream, the persecution of marginalized people by the elite..."

"Why? Because Bob represents them."

Howard was stunned for a few seconds before saying, "That's why you didn't involve Captain Rogers."

"That's right. Fights, games, the rules of these games are actually the lower limit, and people like Steve can't adapt."

Luke nodded and stood up.

"Bob already has so many supporters, it's time for the mutants."

If this protest was limited to mutants and big companies, it would not have caused such a sensation at all.

"For Bob, for justice!"

In front of Essex Tower, a mutant stood on the steps.

Through his ability, like a trumpet, he transmits the sound far away.

Then, he rushed through the gate that was blocked by security.

Next, more than a dozen people behaved similarly.

Their actions caused a commotion in the crowd.

Like a surging tide, they crowded into the door of the Essex building.

"Superman shows up, stops the riot, that's the last scene."

Luke, watching the riot that was about to spiral out of control, walked to the balcony and rose to the ground.

He flew straight to the office where Mr. Omen was, and the floor-to-ceiling windows were melted by the heat, and the wind was blowing in.

Facing the other's frightened eyes, Luke said softly, "My time is limited, so I won't give you a chance to leave a last word this time."

He took a step forward, and the whole building shook.

The terrifying aura was like a tsunami, pressing down on Mr. Omen.

Before he could say anything, his whole body exploded into a mass of rotten flesh.

"It's Superman!"

"He is back!"

"..."

The crowded crowd saw a tall and straight figure standing high in the sky.

Dark red cloak, fluttering like a flag.

Luke's appearance suddenly stopped the uncontrollable riot.

A gentle smile appeared on his face.

"Nathaniel Essex, he confessed to his crimes. He hurt you, he hurt Bob, and he got what he deserved."

"A hundred years ago, a great American signed..."

A loud and powerful voice echoed.

"I have a dream", began to sing.
