“Surely Second Young Master Lu is not planning on buying that for a woman.” One of Lu Zhiyuan’s minions mocked him. “Second Young Master Lu, nobody would like these cheap things or even just to pick them up if they were laying on the ground. You should be gifting her diamonds and gems.”

Lu Jue did not hear anything coming out of those two and he continued to toy with the hair pin in his hand.

The Ning’s were very defensive externally, even though Lu Jue was just a guest at their place.

The Ning’s chauffeur couldn't help but chimed in, “Young Master Lu Jue had been staying that the Ning’s recently and our Miss is not one who cared about the cost of an item. After all, she can have any fancy jewelries that she desires.”

“The Ning’s?” Lu Zhiyuan’s minion was stunned. So “Miss” referred to Ning Zhi?

The fool Lu Jue was an item with Ning Zhi? Ning Zhi was definitely ranked the most desirable bachelorette among the upper class.

She was rich and pretty. Many didn’t even have the chance to initiate a conversation with him and now a fool had beat them to it?

Lu Zhiyuan’s eyes dimmed as well. “’Miss’ refers to Miss Ning?”

Lu Zhiyuan looked over at Lu Jue. So he had been staying at the Ning’s?

The Ning’s had always one up the Lu’s in terms of wealth. Even when the Ning’s couple passed away, the family did not plunge into chaos. They remained steady. Ning Zhi did not head up the corporation but she hired two very competent person to manage the company for her. All she needed to do was to count her wealth from behind the scenes.

Many had waited to see Ning Zhi downfall at the beginning. By now, not only did the Ning Corporation not showing any signs of going downhill, it was slowly trending upward.

Ning Zhi was, doubtless, a gold mine in the eyes of others.

Many wealthy boys fawned over her but she didn’t care for any of them.

And now, Lu Jue was able to stay at the Ning’s and be with her?

With someone from the Ning’s being there, Lu Zhiyuan was a little intimidated. He leaned toward Lu Jue and said nasty words with lowered voice. “Don’t ever return to the Lu’s.”

That prompted a reaction from Lu Jue. He nodded and forced out a “mmm” from his throat.

Lu Zhiyuan took a deep breath and took off with his minions.

Ning Zhi was sitting inside the living room when Lu Jue returned.

“Where did you go?” Ning Zhi was curious.

Lu Jue panicked and placed the little blue box side the pocket in front of his hoodie.

Both of his hands were inside as well and he nodded.

Ning Zhi chuckled at him. “What are you hiding? What is it that you can’t show me?”

Lu Jue pinched his lips shut. He lowered his head and avoided Ning Zhi’s look. “I can’t show Zhizhi now.”

As he talked, this was the very first time that he was not clingy to Ning Zhi. In fact, he dashed upstairs while holding onto the little box.

Ning Zhi was very curious looking at his back.

The next day, when the sun shone through the curtains and into the room and the white curtain floated in the breeze and the room serene, Lu Jue opened his eyes, jumped out of bed, and walked in front of the cabinet.

He opened the cabinet and picked and chose among the rows and rows of red clothes. It was Zhizhi’s birthday today. He must dress up nicely and make Zhizhi happy.

As such, Lu Jue picked out a new red silk shirt.

After he had changed into the shirt, he walked in front of the mirror and, for the very first time, smoothed out his hair in front of his forehead until they were no longer messy before he went downstairs carrying the little box.

“Good morning, Young Master Lu Jue, breakfast is ready,” said the butler.

“Zhizhi?” Lu Jue did not see Ning Zhi around.

“Miss went out early today,” said the butler. “She did tell us to keep breakfast warm for you and to remind Young Master Lu Jue to have breakfast.”
