TN: Sorry for posting the wrong chapter earlier. I guess I’m tired.

「That’s mine!」

「I already took it!」

I’m not going to focus on places where children are getting into trouble.

Don’t fight, just go home with a happy heart.

Laura-san and I continued to spread the gift balls around and when we had around 30% thrown away, we stopped.

I guess the children’s share is already enough and the adults want to get some new year’s gift balls too.

We saved the rest for the adults.

When everyone had picked up most of the gift balls, Laura-san and I waved our hands to the children. Seeing that, the parents signaled their children…..and they started saying “Thank you very much to us”.

I’m glad they enjoyed it.

「By the way, I remember Chicken saying something about volunteers for the New Year’s Eve gift ball for the children……」

「Are you talking about them?」

Near the stage, to which Laura-san pointed, a red head fishkin, Roast, in theatrical costume, and an adventurer army led by the centaur Pickles, with red and white cloth on her horse part, were waiting with a big sack.

What the…you look so enthusiastic.

The adventurers, other than Roast and Pickles, were dressed in cheap and flashy costumes, looking like a group of merchants.

Well, since the children are gathered in front of us, we might as well switch places with them.

As Laura-san and I headed for them, Roast scratched her head and spoke to me, looking somewhat embarrassed.

「Ano, this, young master, we actually want to give the children gifts too….」

「Yeah, Chicken has already informed me about it. The children are there, why don’t you give them your new year’s gift to them now?」

「Ah, really?」

「Yeah, it’s fine.」

Laura-san nodded in agreement and lit a cigarette.

Perhaps anticipating the increase in the number of guests, the amount of gift balls that Chicken had prepared for the event was more than double compared to last year.

It wasn’t much labor, but it was tiring as expected.

I guess it’s just in time for a little smoke break.

『Children, on behalf of Sawadi Slayra-sama and Laura Slayra-sama, the volunteer adventurers will give you gifts. Please stay where you are.』

「「「「「Yes!」」」」」

The children, who responded in high energy to miss emcee, cheered even more when they saw the volunteers on the stage.

「Ah! It’s Roast!」

「It’s Pickles!」

「Children! Did you behave last year? I’ll give you new year’s gift as promised! 」

「Yahoo!!」

「As promised, we’ve prepared everything for you.」

The adventurers lined up on the stage and pulled out their sack of new year’s gift balls but their gift balls were clearly too big.

What did you put in them?

Their gift balls are around the size of a big fist.

「Happy new year!!」

「Happy new year!」

「Happy new yeaaaar!」

The adventurers were scattering the gift balls, each one so big that the children’s pockets and baskets were filled up in no time.

However, the children happily took them all.

As I stretched out my back while looking at the delighted children from the side, I saw one rolling down to my feet as if someone had dropped it.

I picked it up and unfolded it to find that it contained an assortment of sweet bread, candy balls, and cookies.

「Like a pair of silly shoes」

I twisted it back and gently tossed it to the children.

I guess this will be their snack until tomorrow.

「What’s a silly shoe?」

As I gazed at the children, who were screaming with happiness, Laura-san asked me that with a curious look on her face.

「Ah, there’s a festival back in my hometown called Christmas……」

「Another festival? How many festivals are there in your hometown?」

「Ehto……that’s, well, if it’s the kind where people get together to make a fuss…..it’s all year round」

「What? You mean you just all play around?」

「No no, on the contrary, we worked so much that we will suffocate if we didn’t have festivals like that from time to time.」

We would work until the sun went down every day and take the first train to work the next day.

I guess this world is going to the path of working more and more later in the future because cheap lighting fixtures are becoming more and more popular.

At the very least, let’s hope that when these children become adults, there will still be a relaxed working environment.

I gently clasped my hands together and prayed to the god of labor, who may or may not exist.
