Constantine County was surrounded by these eerie swamps that gave off a damp and musty scent. It felt like the kind of place where secrets were kept, and the darkness seemed to consume everything in its path. The front of the county was an endless expanse of this swamp, while a dense forest loomed in the background, giving it an otherworldly feel.

One of the roads leading into the forest was Constantine Forest Road, and it was truly a sight to behold. This picturesque pathway was tucked away deep in the heart of the forest, and as one traveled down it, they were surrounded by towering trees that filtered the sunlight, casting a spellbinding play of light and shadow on the ground. The leaves rustled gently in the cool breeze, creating a soothing sound that was music to the ears. It was the kind of place where one could lose themselves in thought and forget about the world.

Clip-Clop!

A carriage carrying a good amount of people drove down Constantine Forest Road. The road was well-maintained, and the drive was smooth, with occasional bumps as it made its way through the winding path.

'So beautiful!'

The half-elvish twins, Maya and Aydin, were gazing out of the carriage window, marveling at the breathtaking view before them. The dense forest appeared to open up as if extending a warm invitation to them.

'It feels good to see them act like this.'

Roy's heart swelled with joy as he gazed upon his adopted children, Maya and Aydin, who were completely engrossed in the present moment, reveling in their blissful innocence.

Even though, according to legal papers, they were his slaves, he treated them like his own flesh and blood.

'They were wronged in the past, and there was no one to help them as sinful humans trampled on their innocence and dignity. That's why Chaos got to them easily, and they grew up to become villains. But now that they are being given proper guidance, they have shown no signs of turning to the dark side. Under our watch, they will definitely not turn out to be villainous. I will not let any bastard come near them either. They won't be taken advantage of in this life!'

As their guardian, Roy vowed to always be there for them, come what may.

As for why he had not yet taken the necessary steps to change their identities, it was because he had been so busy that he simply did not have the time, and, more importantly, he needed to clear their names first.

Maya and Aydin were still carrying the burden of being the descendants of criminals, and until that stigma was lifted, their legal status in the Great Sun Empire would continue to be in jeopardy.

As the Female Siren watched Roy's smile widen while he gazed at the young ones, her thoughts drifted. "H-husband, do you like children?" She nervously posed the question, her voice delicate and quivering.

Roy was taken aback by her fragile tone. He gazed into her stunningly beautiful face and saw a rosy blush creeping up her cheeks, making her look all the more lovely. What made her so shy?

"Yes, they are the most innocent creatures in the world. They bring light to the darkness and offer hope to humanity. To see them grow and flourish, to guide them through life's trials, is one of life's greatest pleasures. Personally, I will do everything in my power to safeguard their happiness." Roy replied to her honestly.

He hated when children were abused by sick perverts, and he would kill anyone if they tried to harm Maya and Aydin.

The Female Siren's eyes curved into a smile, hearing her husband's words. She leaned closer to him and whispered in his ear, "If it pleases you, I would be honored to bear your children."

Her voice was a faint murmur, but Arlo and Damien overheard it and coughed awkwardly.

Arlo's thoughts wandered: How wonderful! The next generation is ready to be born! I am about to become a grandpa!

Damien was less pleased: Can't you guys keep your affectionate gestures to yourself? You two are being too clingy! This single dog can't handle it!

Roy was embarrassed by her words, which was unusual for him. But the astonishment and joy he experienced at hearing that a goddess like her was willing to bear his seeds were more than his embarrassment.

"Are you willing to do that for me?" he inquired softly as his face brightened up with a silly and wide smile.

"Of course. I will do anything to make you happy." The Female Siren nodded as an equally cheerful smile blossomed on her face.

"Thank you," Roy murmured, taking her hand and gently squeezing it. "I am also looking forward to having children with you. But before we take that step, I want to make the world a better place, one free of Chaos and Death. I want to welcome them into a world that's free of danger."

"I can wait for that." The Female Siren looked into his eyes deeply, "I also want the best for our children."

Delilah wasn't awake, or else she would have offered the same deal to Roy out of love and jealousy!

As Roy and the Female Siren discussed their desire to have children in the future, Arlo and Damien couldn't help but have their own thoughts on the matter.

Arlo thought to himself, "It's great to see them planning for their future. I'm sure they will make wonderful parents. Hopefully, I will be alive to meet their children and watch them grow up."

Who was he fooling? He knew how accurate the Water Celestial's prophecy was. Sooner or later, he would have to either watch Roy die or die in Roy's stead. The inevitable could be delayed. But there was no evading it!

Meanwhile, Damien had a different perspective.

"Admirable! They have thought it through. These are turbulent times. With Chaos and Death plotting to cause our downfall and countless dangers littering the empire, it's hard for anyone to keep their children safe."

The serene ambiance of the woods was contagious, and it put everyone in the carriage at ease.

Eeeeek!

The tranquility of the forest was shattered by a high-pitched scream, causing everyone's hearts to skip a beat.

Amelia, Julian, and Delilah, who were sound asleep, jolted awake at the sudden noise.

"What's going on?" Amelia asked, rubbing her sleepy eyes.

"We will go check it out," Roy suggested, and Arlo nodded in agreement.

They sprinted out of the carriage, their bodies moving with lightning-fast speed.

As they raced through the forest and past the trees, they came upon the scene of a young boy being trampled by a rat man.

"This monster deserves to die!" Roy's eyes blazed with fury as he watched the rat man torture the boy, who appeared to be no older than thirteen.

Shuaa!

Just as the rat man was about to deliver the final blow, Roy flicked his finger, and a bolt of black lightning crackled through the air.

Gah!

The rat man was struck, and it let out a pitiful cry as it was flung into a nearby tree, crashing into it with a sickening thud. A gaping hole appeared in its chest where the lightning had struck, and blood poured out in copious amounts as its lifeless body quickly grew cold.
