Tritus scowled and stopped attacking Obstruction. Since he could not land a hit, it only wasted his energy and time.

In any case, he had already achieved his objective: to stop Obstrucion from escaping.

As Tritus was pondering this, he suddenly sensed a foreboding. Immediately, he scanned his surroundings for any danger.

However, what he saw was something he had not expected.

The rectangular black plates that made up the points of the pentagon shifted and rotated. Then they abruptly stopped, still making up five points. But, instead of turning into a pentagon, the five points connected this time and turned into a pentagram. After that, concentrated magic energy gathered at its center.

Tritus's eyes widened in surprise. In an instant, he rushed toward the pentagram, his arm holding the trident was poise in a throwing motion.

He did not delay and release the trident toward the pentagram even though he had not gathered enough momentum.

Nevertheless, while Tritus threw the trident, the pentagram released the concentrated magic energy it gathered and aimed at the crack on the veil's surface.

'Not good!'

Tritus thought as his eyes glowed and his magic erupted. He cast all the movement spell he knew to himself and rushed toward the spot where he guessed the pentagram's attack would land.

It was not Tritus alone who noticed the pentagram's movement.

Cade, Jared, and Kyran, who were in a middle of an internal discussion, also sensed it, and they all looked toward that spot.

Kyran's eyes glowed silver as he took a step toward the veil.

Now that he no longer had to keep an eye on True Void, nothing was preventing him from moving around anymore.

But.

'Kyran, stop!'

Cade's warning sounded in Kyran's head the moment he appeared a few meters away in front of the pentagram's attack.

Several meters away, in two different locations, Obstruction smiled the moment he saw Kyran appear to stop the pentagram's attack. At the same time, a smile also appeared on Layla's beautiful face.

"NOW!"

From outside the estate, the pillars of light that released powerful magic energy to destroy the estate's veil suddenly merged at the top.

Then a huge beam of light fell from the sky from where those pillars of light had converged. Surprisingly— no, it was likely planned by Layla all along—the location where the beam of light was about to land was where Kyran had just appeared.

Meanwhile, the concentrated magic energy the pentagram released distorted and disappeared. But it did not really disappear. Instead, it teleported and reappeared a few meters behind Kyran.

Kyran finally realized that the array Layla had prepared was not only meant to destroy the veil. It likely included a sealing formula or something similar she planned to use on him!

No one could really blame Kyran for not expecting Layla to make such a move. The Array knowledge and attainment of almost every mage in the Human plane could be considered 'basic.'

Yes, array formations were available in the Human plane with advanced formulas. Still, as far as the Array Specialists of this time were concerned, those were rare formations that could be considered inheritance from past Array Specialists.

So far, none of them had fully deciphered those arrays.

Because of this, Kyran never expected Layla to have prepared an Array Formation that had complex formulas. After all, it was not easy to create an array wherein it possessed offensive and supportive formulas.

Obviously, the attack it released to destroy the Regis Estate's veil was definitely derived from an offensive formula. However, a sealing or something similar, was derived from a supportive formula.

For someone to combine the two successfully without experiencing instability, he or she must have great knowledge about formula creation and adjustment.

Kyran furrowed his brows for falling into Layla's trap. Now he understood the real reason she had her people stay at such a distance.

It was so he and his family- who were considered experts in the field of Array, not recognize the formulas she had prepared.

But the truth, even at that distance, if any one of them- Cade, Jared, even his grandfather, Aron, and the rest of the Abjurers in the Regis Special Forces, had truly activated the full extent of their magic sense, they would have seen what she was preparing.

However, due to the sensitivity of the Grand Array's activation, they had to be careful when releasing their magic energy.

As a matter of fact, if Tritus and Obstruction confronted each other much earlier. They would have affected the flow of magic energy inside the estate.

Since one of the chains on True Void's body had already shattered when Tritus released his magic energy- not to mention, a crack had alreadt appeared on the veil's surface, the magic energy circulating within the Grand Array had been affected.

Cade was also there manipulating the flow, to ensure the Grand Array would complete its activation without any problems.

In the end, Layla had used all these restrictions to ensure her plan would go well.

As for Obstruction's move just now, whether he had done that because he knew what Layla was planning or not, only he knew the answer.

Nevertheless, because of Obstruction's move, Kyran was forced to act.

Now, he appeared at the right spot where the sealing formula, or something similar, would fall.

Kyran clenched his fist as he took another step.

However, it was at that time, that a suction-like force appeared from

behind him, preventing him from making a move.

It was then that they realized that the concentrated magic energy the pentagram had released gathered a few meters behind Kyran and turned into a huge space distortion.

After that, the pentagram disappeared. However, when it reappeared, it was already several hundred meters away and was on its way toward the spot in the sky where the hole had appeared.

That hole had already been fixed after Nolan became its new Sovereign. Nevertheless, it had only been fixed physically. A few were aware that there was still a crack, albeit small, remaining on the sky.

That crack led outside the Human plane.

In a blink of an eye, the pentagram had already slipped into that crack and could no longer be seen.

Obstruction sneered inwardly.

Truth be told, he had wanted to leave the Human plane so he could bring more of his item with him. However, he did not have to leave the plane to inform the leader of their faction about their current situation.

Just like Cade, who could read far ahead on a situation even though information was sparse, Obstruction's faction leader was the same.

And among the candidates on the next War of the Sovereigns, he and his faction was said to have the highest chance of winning.

The only factor that could prevent that from happening was the return of the Dark Sage- Kyran.

It was for this reason that their faction put a lot of effort in recruiting Kyran. Compared to the new Soul Emperor, they considered the new Dark Sage's addition a priority.

But the reason behind this had always been the Macabre Glacier. Now that Layla already had it in her possession, they no longer need to recruit Kyran.

Still, they knew he would pose a great threat to them.

After all, he possessed the most troublesome magic of all- Void.

Because of its unpredictability, they could not let him be. Thus, Obstruction wanted Layla to succeed in imprisoning Kyran.

Of course, Obstruction was not aware of Layla's plan. What he did know and notice was that she definitely planned something to ensure Kyran would not hinder her plan.

Much of what had followed were all Obstruction's guesswork. Even the position at which he forced Kyran to appear.

Time seemed to have slowed down in Cade, Jared, and even all those people who could see what was happening in Ravenpass's sky.

The huge beam of light fell from above and was only a few meters away from enveloping Kyran. While Tritus, who was still a distance away pushed himself even further to save him.

Kyran's expression had also distorted aa he tried to move away from the space distortion that stopped his movement. He only had one choice left if he wanted to get away from this predicament.

And that was to release his Void magic energy.

However, if he did this, the Macabre Glacier nearby would react and he might fall into its force once more. But rather than being afraid of contronting the Macabre Glacier's influence, what Kyran truly wanted to avoid was disrupting the Grand Array's completion.

If he released his magic energy and used 'warp' he would definitely cause a huge distortion.

It was the same distortion that Malek warned him when he thought of checking on his father's trial.

In the end, Kyran did not go in fear of messing up his father's inheritance.

Cade gritted his teeth, 'Is this it?'

He wondered in despair.
