[Eureka’s Feelings]

To learn Eureka’s true feelings, we visited Eureka’s sickroom.

“W-what brings everyone here?!” Eureka was surprised by our sudden visit.

Not to mention, we had Jarvis with us this time, causing her to be extra nervous. That said, a large part of her awkward attitude must have been caused by Raul’s confession. I mean, her face was a bit red, too.

“Of course, we came to see how you are doing. That and… to ask you about a couple of things.”

“Ah—”

It seemed she realized what we wanted to know even without me explaining everything. This would save us time.

“It seems that you already realized it, but… it’s concerning the matter with Raul yesterday.”

“Uu…” Eureka seemed to find it difficult to answer.

Asking her to give her answer to the confession out of blue really would be too much for her, huh?

In that case…

“We’d like to know what happened between you two in the past.”

I changed my approach.

Eureka then opened her mouth, uttering slowly, “Raul… he betrayed me.”

The tone she spoke those words with was extremely solemn.

Betray, huh… that was a heavy expression.

However, Eureka’s expression immediately changed the moment the words left her mouth, seemingly regretting it; like, those words didn’t come from the bottom of her heart.

Eureka’s monologue continued.

“Even that confession… I’m sure he didn’t mean it.”

“T-that’s not true!” Tayte desperately pleaded.

But Eureka was unmoved.

“Young Mistress Tayte… Raul can’t possibly be interested in someone like me.”

“…Mm?”

Eureka’s words caused me to feel out of place.

She made it sound like Raul’s confession wasn’t genuine.

But considering Raul’s serious look back then, I didn’t think he was lying.

“Raul is very talented. He hadn’t been able to use his powers well simply because he lacked training. But now he has become the Holy Knight’s disciple, and those around him have begun to acknowledge him… there is no way he really likes me.”

“No, I’m sure he genuinely likes you,” I immediately denied, but Eureka didn’t seem to believe me.

Was this what I thought it was?

Perhaps a long time living in the slums had ingrained low self-esteem in Eureka.

The wall of talent that stood between her and Raul only served as to further discourage her.

——Wait.

Speaking of talents… Eureka had them too!

“Eureka.”

“W-what is it?”

“Can you come with me for a moment?”

“Huh?”

My request surprised not only Eureka, but also Tayte and Jarvis.

It was no wonder.

It wasn’t a part of our original plan, instead a spur-of-the-moment thing, after all.

“W-where do you want to take me to?”

“Ms. Teixeira’s place.”

“““Ms. Teixeira?””” The three’s voices overlapped.

Well, it was only natural they’d be surprised when I mentioned her name without context.

The reason why I wanted to bring Eureka to meet Ms. Teixeira was because I was sure that she could see Eureka’s talents.

Eureka was a rarely-seen genius in the field of magic in the original storyline.

Currently, I believed she was keeping her distance from Raul because she thought that she was unworthy, that she was nothing compared to Raul who had made a name for himself as the wielder of the Demon Sword.

When it came to the confession, from what she had said so far, I didn’t think she hated it, instead, she found it unbelievable.

The reason for this was most likely due to Eureka’s lack of self-confidence.

Raul had saved her from slave traders, and at the academy he had become an apprentice to the Holy Knight Klaus and begun to distinguish himself.

Although they both from the slums, the difference between them was like heaven and earth.

Thus when comparing themselves, she felt she was unworthy for Raul, at least that was how it seemed to me.

——In which case, all she needed was enough power to stand by his side.

If it was the same as the original storyline, Eureka’s talent as a sorceress should be ridiculously high. If Eureka knew that, she would be able to interact with Raul with confidence.

And thus, everything should be solved.
