[Hated Hero, Pitching In]

The situation had taken an unexpected turn.

Raul’s grand confession that he liked Eureka—to think that Eureka herself would hear it.

The next day.

Classes continued as usual.

The only notable difference was that summer vacation became a hot topic among the students.

…However, I had no energy to listen to their conversations.

Yesterday, I’d stayed up all night trying to formulate a plan to help Raul fix his relationship with Eureka… but no good idea came to mind. Maybe I really had to listen to Eureka’s side of the story first.

“Phew…”

“Is something the matter, Barrett?” Tayte asked me worriedly. As expected of an anger. And next to her…

“It’s unusual for you to be so spiritless. What happened?”

…there was Jarvis with her arms crossed.

Hmm… maybe I should let Jarvis know about Raul’s problem. Both of them were acquainted, and they would later become companions in the same party in the original storyline, too.

And so, I explained the situation to Jarvis together with Tayte.

“S-so Raul confessed to Eureka…”

Huh?

Her reaction was kind of different from what I’d expected.

I thought she’d be like, “Hmm, I see,” but was it just me, or did her face really become a little bit… darker?

C-could it be that—Jarvis had a crush on Raul?!

“Still, I am really impressed by Raul’s honest confession! Since then, Eureka has been frowning like she is conflicted, but I don’t think she really dislikes Raul!”

“I-is that so…”

Oh my.

Jarvis was overwhelmed by Tayte’s vigor.

What a rare phenomenon.

No doubt this was a secret event that you couldn’t find in the original storyline.

“Eureka and Raul… I am sure that if they settle their differences, they will grow as close as they used to be…” Tayte had gone deep into maiden mode.

Jarvis next to her had a sour look on her face.

I wondered why she was frowning so hard.

At first, I couldn’t make heads or tails of it at all, but as I thought about it, I came to realize that Jarvis would be the only one left single if Raul and Eureka became a couple in our party of five.

“H-hey, Jarvis…”

“You don’t have to worry about me.”

“Huh?”

Jarvis stretched out her right arm and stopped me as though she knew what I was thinking.

“Even if you guys flirt right in front of me, I won’t mind! I absolutely won’t! It’s not going to make me jealous, like, at all, so you don’t have to be considerate of me.”

Something told me that she was lying, but since she said not to be considerate of her, then I’d flirt with Tayte without reserve.

Wait, this was not about me and Tayte.

The problem was with Raul and Eureka.

“Hey, Tayte.”

“Yes?”

“I’m thinking of asking Eureka about matters between her and Raul after school—”

“To bring them together, right!”

Tayte suddenly brought her slender body closer to me.

S-she sure was excited, huh?

I didn’t know she liked the topic of romance so much.

“W-well, I do want them to get along again, and… we can’t let him stay like that forever, can we?” I said, pointing to a certain part of the classroom.

In the classroom, bright from the light of the late summer sun streaming in through the windows, only that place was terribly dark and gloomy.

Yes.

That place was where Raul, who had unintentionally confessed his feelings to Eureka, was lying face down on the desk.

“…He does look like he needs some help,” Jarvis remarked.

“Even Mr. Walter, who is usually so strict, told him to skip training and take a rest,” Tayte said.

It was a testament to how dejected Raul was.

Guess I had no other choice.

I’d give a hand to this fellow party members-to-be of mine.

Tayte wanted to support their relationship, too.

Besides… if I looked at things from Eureka’s perspective, it might reveal a different situation than it had been before.

As such, Eureka’s information would be very crucial.

Well… I wondered what stories she’d have for us.
