Chapter 15: Shocker

Bianca had no idea that she would return home before her brother. The house was suffocating, and family relations seemed distant.

Her father is rarely around, and her mother is always with Julian. Moreover, Bianca felt as if she was being watched by her maid. Being in that house was just too stifling.

She missed the monastery, where everyone was strict but friendly. The people of the town were also deeply religious, and the monastery had become a symbol of peace and tranquility in the peaceful seaside town.

Today Bianca decided to study not in the school’s library but on the café terrace over a cup of tea.

The entire area had high ceilings, large windows, and a central atrium, so it was sunny and liberating. Her brother told her to stay in the library, but she thought it would be okay to stay there for a little while.

As Bainca was dozing off in the afternoon sun and leafing through a textbook, she saw a shadow.

“Bianca-sama, may I come in here?”

Kelly Hamilton is always like an attendant to Natalie, the Marquess of Collins. They are in the same class, but she had never spoken to either of them. What in the world do they want? Bianca wondered, but said, “Come in,” and suggested they sit down.

“I heard rumors that you lost your memory, but how much do you remember?”

Natalie may have known Bianca, but for Bianca, this was the first time she had met her. It seems a little impolite of her to ask such a question out of the blue.

The school’s daily life was not amnesia-friendly. That said, it was also rather troublesome to lie just because of that.

“I have no recollection at all. I know your name because we are in the same class, but it’s nice to meet you both, Natalie-sama and Kelly-sama.”

Bianca’s emphasis on “it’s nice to meet you” made both of them blush for a moment. Natalie, however, quickly regained her composure.

“Then shall we start at the beginning?” She smiled without any bad feelings.

“That’s right. Let’s do that.”

Kelly followed Natalie’s lead. Bianca watched the exchange with a blank stare.

“We used to be friends.”

Natalie said it out of the blue.

“Was that so? But you didn’t talk to me until now, right?”

It’s strange

“Yes, that’s because… you’ve changed so much that it’s hard for me to talk to you.”

She tilted her head slightly, wondering if that was the case. Rather, it would have been more reassuring if they had called her earlier.

“So, what do you think of Flora-sama right now?”

“Huh? Flora-sama? Ah, she is the fiancée of His Highness Prince Stuart, isn’t she?”

I had completely forgotten. It’s difficult to recall names and faces.

“No, they are not engaged yet!”

For some reason, Natalie is upset.

“I see.”

Bianca was not interested, so she just kept on nodding. Why did they come here? She quickly realized that she didn’t want anything to do with these girls.

“So, what did you think when you saw Lady Flora, who is not even his fiancée, being all sticky?”

She repeated the same thing.

“I don’t care.”

She was not interested. Because her father would get angry with her again if she didn’t make the top fifty in the next test. She wanted to end this incomprehensible conversation as soon as possible, as it would cut into her study time.

“I don’t think so… After all, Bianca-sama, you committed suicide because it was so painful for you to see His Highness Stuart and Flora-sama dating, right?”

Bianca’s mind went blank the moment she heard that.

“Huh? Wh-wh-what’! Oh my god! I committed suicide?”

She found herself yelling out loud, and to her surprise, she involuntarily slumped out of her chair.

Natalie and Kelly were surprised by Bianca’s violent reaction. At least the old Bianca would not have suddenly screamed on the café terrace.

“Oh, no. Oh, my God, you’re overreacting!”

“Yes, that’s right.  Bianca-sama, please calm down.”

The two are stunned and rush to calm Bianca down.

“Calm down? Suicide is a mortal sin. I can’t believe I did such a thing. I’m screwed. I’m done!”

Bianca shivered, her face twisted in agony. They both looked at Bianca, who showed her emotions. And what is “the end”? They didn’t understand.

The girls don’t know, of course. Bianca, who had lost her memory, had always supported herself by wanting to become a nun. Of course, she had not told her brother that her dream was to become a nun.

However, if she had committed suicide, she might have been cut off from the path of a nun, for suicide is a mortal sin according to God’s teaching.

Before she knew it, tears were streaming down her cheeks and overflowing one after another. The next moment, Bianca was running off from the café terrace, crying.

The remaining two were simply dumbfounded by the duchess, who was showing her emotions.
