411 – Relic of the Sun God

The Relic of the Sun God.

Up until now, I’ve been traveling to countless ruins with Celeste.

Part of it was to get closer to Celeste, but…

In truth, the other main reason was:

To collect the relics of the Sun God.

‘…’

The relics of the Sun God.

Beings imbued with special powers, left behind in this world by the Sun God.

The knight of the Sun God, that Stardust and I had destroyed.

The one who erased memories as payment and granted wishes.

In addition, I had collected various relics with Celeste.

The first one we found together was the sword Luxaria.

Followed by the Golem of Rage.

The Ring of Envy, Indivia, found beneath the colossal statue of the Sun God.

Now, it was finally time to destroy these relics.

…And so, for that reason.

I was currently at the cathedral in Cathedrale.

“Ugh…”

A wide space lit up with gentle light shining from the stained glass, composed of white walls.

The very same Cathedrale Cathedral I’d previously visited.

In that slightly cold place, I stretched out my arms full length.

Ah. It felt alive.

“Ah… this is nice.”

I murmured, smiling, and shaking my arms.

It’s been a few weeks only confined to the sick room.

I finally managed to persuade Celeste and escaped there with her power.

By now, there’s probably my doppelganger that Celeste specially made staying in my sick room. It should be working since I said I wouldn’t be able to hang around in the room for too long… There won’t be an issue till I get back.

Anyway, as I was stretching.

“…Hm hm, you do realise you ought to be thankful to me, right? But why on earth are you dressed to the nines?”

Celeste asked me from behind.

Seeing me, dressed in a black hat, mask, and even a cloak, on my way to the cathedral, Celeste asked that question.

I turned back, grinned, and asked her,

“Celeste. Do you have all the Sun God’s relics I’ve given you so far?”

“…Huh? Oh, of course I do…”

Quickly alarmed, she answered my question.

To her, who was murmuring with a slight touch to her silver hair, I continued speaking with a smile.

“Could you bring them here, then?”

Why else would I be dressed up like this?

It’s about time to smash them. The relics.

Sacred relics of the Sun God.

The Knight of the Sun God, Infles, the holy sword Luxsaria, the Golem of Wrath, the Ring of Envy, Invidia.

The first two I have already destroyed, and Celeste had the remaining three relics which I had been diligently collecting and destroying.

Their true nature was…

“These relics are devices of the Sun God, meant to judge the Seven Deadly Sins.”

Inside Celeste’s office.

Looking at the sword and ring placed on the table, and the golem that should be in the vault behind her, I explained this to Celeste.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Sloth, Greed, Lust, Wrath, Envy, Gluttony, and Pride.

Commonly referred to as the Seven Deadly Sins, these relics were the equipment that the Sun God had previously prepared in this world in order to punish human sins.

“Ah…”

Just like this.

Even the sacred relics of the Sun God were not gifts for humans, but rather tools to punish them. When Celeste realized this, she murmured with a hopeless expression on her face.

I solemnly explained these things to Celeste.

“The relationships between the sins and the relics that I found out, goes like this.”

The Knight of the Sun God, the punisher of Sloth.

Unbeatable if one does not know the attack pattern.

The Ring of Greed, the fulfiller of wishes.

If one wishes without knowing its power, a corresponding price is taken and the wish is twisted into reality.

The Holy Sword Luxsaria, the punisher of Lust.

The moment one holds the sword, it automatically tracks and eliminates those who feel s*xual urges.

The Golem, the punisher of Wrath.

It blocks all attacks against it and reflects them back to the attacker.

Ring Invidia, the punisher of Envy.

After tempting the bearer to kill the object of envy, it kills the bearer in return and moves on to the next one.

These are the true identities of the sacred relics of the Sun God.

Weapons of pure malice.

It goes without saying that these needs to be destroyed before the Advent of the Sun God.

After the Advent, there is no telling what these powerful relics influenced by the God’s power would do. The Sun God could draw strength from them and become stronger.

In the original text, all five had been exterminated ahead of the Advent.

However…

‘Surely the original was the Seven Deadly Sins.’

Only five relics were present, and nothing related to the remaining two sins.

Well, the setting itself was borrowed from the Catholic concept of the Seven Deadly Sins, so these were perhaps originally the Five Sins.

Regardless, my focus now had to be on destroying these three.

With that thought in mind, I quietly said to Celeste.

“Celeste, you understand, right? We have to take care of these relics.”

“…..Yes.”

Towards me, who was saying that, she responded in a quiet, uneasy voice.

…After all. The destruction of even these holy artifacts would be a testament greater than anything else to Celeste’s eternal betrayal of the Solar God, wouldn’t it?

Just failing to obey his commands and destroying his relics altogether is another issue entirely.

So.

…I approached her, my hands clasped together, and said,

“Celeste, I know this is hard for you, but please, destroy these relics. I will be by your side, for my sake, just once, okay?”

“…Alright.”

Upon my persuasion, she agrees, letting out a small sigh.

…Despite resenting me for asking her, a former saintess of the Solar God, to destroy the holy artifacts of the Solar God. Celeste, thankfully, didn’t.

And so, I, towards her,

Clasped our hands together once more and said,

“Then, let’s go.”

“To destroy the relics of the Solar God.”

***

After we decided to destroy the artifacts.

Coming out into the empty cathedral hall from the outside office,

We stood, looking at the three holy artifacts placed in the center.

“…I have a bad feeling… So how do we destroy this?”

She murmured, looking at the artifacts.

The three relics placed on the floor. The Knife of Lust, Ring of Jealousy, and the Golem of Wrath.

To Celeste, who asked me how to handle them, I calmly responded,

“Just inject a lot of solar power. Then it will naturally go berserk and collapse on its own.”

“…Is that so.”

From noble mtl dot com

My straightforward explanation to just destroy it by forcefully using her power.

In the original story, Stardust had processed most of these with the power of the stars. This was the most standard tactic.

However…

‘Of these, in the original story, the Golem of Wrath exploded on its own due to Celeste injecting too much power, causing it to go berserk.’

Because of this, I knew. That Celeste could eliminate these relics by herself.

…Of course, if it doesn’ work, I’ll have to ask Stardust to do it. But chances are high it will.

And, it seems better for Celeste’s mental state to destroy the holy artifacts herself rather than have Stardust destroy them.

Anyhow, Celeste was distancing herself from where the holy artifacts were placed. I was closer to them.

If something were to happen, I would suppress it with the power of my dark star. It would be better if I didn’t need to use it very often…

Now, all preparations were done.

“Celeste, let’s start with this golem first.”

“Alright.”

Fyuooooooong

Along with my words, Celeste shot a beam of light towards the golem, and,

As a result.

Kigigigigiiiiiiig

KWaaaNG

The golem’s eyes glimmered, accompanied by an unsettling mechanical noise.

Then, a blast of light burst forth, exploding in a blinding flare.

The fact that it vanished without a trace, light and all, was an extra treat.

“….”

After causing such devastation to the relic, Celeste’s expression didn’t look too pleased, though she didn’t look particularly distressed.

Good. Let’s keep going like this.

“Celeste, one more.”

“…Alright.”

Booooom.

Like this, we continued on, destroying the rings without much trouble.

Of course, there were minor issues like some ghost-like thing popping out of one of the rings in the middle.

[Skreeeaaakkkk!]

…It vanished without a trace as soon as it emerged, swallowed by Celeste’s sincere beam of light.

Like that.

“…Phew. One more to go.”

“…..”

I murmured quietly to Celeste, whose face had grown even more somber after the destruction of the rings.

…It seems I should be even kinder to Celeste once all the destruction is done. She must have treasured the rings… I feel quite guilty.

At any rate, that was my thought.

…And also, there were no significant problems so far.

Therefore, I wasn’t worried about breaking the final relic, the Sword of Lust, Luxuria.

Perhaps it was because of that.

Craaack—

The sword shattered as soon as it was hit by Celeste’s beam of light.

Sssssss

Caught off guard by the sudden pinkish smoke that arose, I couldn’t react.

“….Uh!”

Before realizing something was wrong, I had already inhaled the pink smoke.

Like that.

“Egostic! Are you okay? Egostic!!”

“Uh…”

I started swaying.

***

“Egostic!”

In the shared hall of the Cathedral Cathedral.

Looking at Egostic, who was reeling after inhaling the mysterious pink smoke from the broken relic, Celeste hurriedly ran over.

“Egostic, are you okay..?”

She raced towards him with a worried heart, brushing away the strange pink smoke in fear.

And… contrary to Celeste’s worry.

“Um…”

Egostin staggered momentarily, quickly regaining his composure and standing upright again.

“Egostin..?”

“…Celeste. Oh, excuse me. I’m fine.”

Assertively declaring his well-being, he seemed perfectly fine.

However, Celeste had already positioned herself in front of him, concerned.

And in doing so, was able to face him directly.

“…..”

Aside from a faint blush on his face, he appeared quite normal.

However, while Celeste doubted whether Egostin was truly alright.

“Ack…!”

Celeste unintentionally let out a surprised gasp.

Egostin had gently caressed her cheek with his hand.

“I’m really okay, Miss Celeste. But…”

“Eh, eh..'”

Celeste was taken aback by Egostin’s sudden and bold move.

This was the first time he had initiated such intimate physical contact.

While she turned red with embarrassment during all this.

Egostin, in a soft, soothing voice, whispered to her.

“Celeste. …You’re looking even more beautiful today.”

“Eh… eh… Yes??? Well, thank you, but why all of a sudden…?”

Meanwhile, as Celeste was bewildered by Egostin’s sudden outburst of affection.

Egostin had gently pushed her up against a wall.

Looming over her, he cast an intense gaze upon her.

…Upon closer inspection, he looked even more attractive… Wait a minute, that’s not the point.

‘What the… What’s happening???’

In light of this new situation, a flustered Celeste whose face had turned beet red.

…Uncontrollably thought of something unthinkable.

‘Hold on…’

A specific scene appeared in her head.

Her silver-haired self, dressed in holy robes, was pinned by a man in a black hat against a wall of bricks.

With her back against the wall, the silver-haired woman looked up at the man before her with her golden eyes, her voice trembling as she opened her mouth.

“Hold on… Egostin, calm down. We can’t do this here, okay?”

“I can’t. I can’t hold back.”

“No, just calm down. I like you too, okay? But not here… uh…”

‘Wait….!!!’

This is…that prophesied scene…!!!!

She was flabbergasted.
