Human King

Chapter 56: South (3)

Swoosh.

The leaves shook from the goblin who ran past it.

Dudududu.

The ground was serving as an accompaniment for the goblins who were traveling over the land.

Pak!

Their strong fists crushed the obstacles along their way.

And soon, their destination could be seen. A wide land with some trees growing here and there and lodging created from trees.

That was their destination.

"Until I kill their village chief, no one is allowed to make any noise."

The goblin who was leading the other goblins, Dawn said with a small voice.

The one who was accompanying him in this battle as his aide was Wos and Mos. They were the representative of the goblins who recently joined them.

And in fact, the goblins present here were the goblins under Wos, meaning they weren't Dawn's usual goblins.

"Yes, king. Please do remember that a short amount of time is our limit. We will be forced if you exceed even a second."

"I know. Anyway, take care of that."

Dawn pointed at the front, where he can see some goblins who were still awake and walking around.

They were probably the guards assigned to keep watch. There were only 2 of them; however, silence is of importance right now.

"Go."

Dawn's words struck his subordinates' ears as Wos and Mos went after the two goblins who were on night duty.

They were the only ones present here who can eliminate and kill goblins without a noise.

And that's a fact as Dawn could see Wos raising his hand, gesturing for the operation to continue.

"Yamu, take the lead."

Dawn left those words behind as he began to mesh together with the night.

His steps were quick yet silent. His body was big, yet no one could feel his presence.

He disappeared within the blink of an eye, and Wos saw the back of Dawn disappear as he spoke to Mos.

"I can't believe we are going to proceed with this."

"Yeah. That bastard Karkas is a crazy bastard. That bastard."

Wos then ran off to some other direction where he could see a goblin who was awake. Mos followed as well, and he continued the conversation.

"Who would have thought a method like this? Sending the chief...king into the center of a tiger's den. Crazy bastard."

"I think the king is a crazy bastard too. Why would he agree to it otherwise?"

A goblin entered their path, and in the blink of an eye, Wos chopped the goblin's head off with his sword, and Mos picked up the head and the body to prevent it from making any sound.

"Isn't it more fun this way? We never experienced something like this before...Kakaka!"

"Won't we get killed if we do these kinds of things every day?"

"Ha! As if our life matters to us. What we find scary is death without meaning."

Mos laughed silently, and in time, Wos realized what Mos said was true, making him nod his head.

"Let's get right to it; we have a time limit too, you know."

After saying that, Wos kicked off the ground, seeing another goblin who was still awake. Mos didn't take long and followed him right away.

Dawn was making his way towards the big house at the center of the village.

Currently, he was hiding behind a small house as some goblins were still walking.

Even if Dawn could control his Aura, he would be found if they saw his physical body.

What's more, the goblins who were awake were blessed goblins who clearly evolved at least once.

---Are they the guards for the chief?

Even though there were still some distance away from the chief's house, it isn't unreasonable to think of them as so.

---Do I fight them?

Taking a peek over the corner, Dawn could see 5 goblins who were yapping on and on.

"I wanna fight a big monster!"

"You? The chief won't even let you go hunt on your own! Hahaha!"

"Hey! I'm stronger than anyone here!"

Hahaha! The goblins laughed as they ridiculed the goblin, who proclaimed to be the strongest.

---Judging from their physique, they aren't strong but...I can't kill that guy instantly.

There was a silent goblin among the five. He was just sitting in the corner as he watched the moon pass by.

However, Dawn judged him to be the strongest of the five, and what's more, he knew he would make noise if they fought.

---I have to avoid a confrontation at all costs.

Dawn was about to look for a new way or path to take, but...

"!"

Pak. Pak. pak.

A pebble got smacked by his foot, making a sound as it bounced up and down.

"Huh? Who's there?!"

One of the goblins immediately noticed it as he stood up and asked.

"Oy!"

The other goblins stopped their conversation, and they looked at the spot where the rock stopped.

The goblin walked towards the house with silent steps and stopped when he was in front of the corner.

It was then.

Following his instincts, the goblin whipped his head into the corner.

However...

"Tsk, was it the wind?"

...There was nothing to see.

"What's wrong?"

"It's nothing. I guess it was the wind."

"Hmm? Strange, I felt a presence there."

The goblin sat back down to his position and told his goblins not to mind it anymore.

"Well, you were the one who went there."

"Gotta give it to the strongest!"

"That's right! Hahaha!"

They went straight back to their conversation; the silent goblin also took the initiative to join them.

Meanwhile, Dawn was on the run after disturbing the goblins with a pebble.

---Can't believe that fooled them.

Are goblins supposed to be this stupid? Dawn thought as he shook his head.

He wouldn't want to say that. After all, he is a bona fide goblin straight from the woods.

Dawn successfully infiltrated the inner part of the village. He was now less than 20 steps away from the supposed house of the chief.

---This would be hard.

No matter how many times Dawn thought about it, he could only see the future where the village chief would discover him.

After all, if they were of the same rank, there's no way Dawn could fool his enemy that easily.

What's more, he would enter the house itself to kill him.

The difficulty of this mission was too high, even for Dawn.

---Tsk. If I can't hide anymore...

I just need to destroy the house if I get discovered.

Dawn was seriously considering this option as his allies outside would definitely notice something was wrong if something was making loud noises.

"All or nothing!"

Carrying his ambition that he didn't forget, Dawn took his first step towards conquering the south.

****

Dawn was able to enter the house without a hitch. As leaves were serving as the door, Dawn just had to make sure not to disturb those leaves.

Then, as soon as he entered, Dawn felt something was wrong.

---Strange. There's no presence?

Even if the enemy goblin chief were specialized in concealing his presence, he would definitely let out some kind of sound, air, aura, smell, or even vibrations on the ground if he were asleep.

However, Dawn couldn't feel any of those.

---Did he notice me?

If the enemy noticed him, that would make sense. However, there are still no signs of the goblins crowding Dawn.

Dawn couldn't help but doubt the current situation. Nevertheless, the only thing he needed to do was walk forward.

The answers to his questions were in this house.

Dawn chased after the owner of the house. As he took one step at a time, he finally reached the space where the chief seems to likely sleep in.

The space was big, but mostly it was just the ground and the trunks of the trees.

At the center of the space, there was someone. He was sitting with his legs crossed, and his hands were placed on top of his knees.

It was a goblin, but Dawn couldn't tell if it was the chief or not.

After all...

---It's not alive.

...Dawn couldn't sense any signs of life from the goblin.

Dawn approached the corpse, thinking that it probably was alive, considering that this was the village chief's house.

"!"

It was then.

When he was about to touch the corpse, the unknown goblin shot his bloodshot eyes open!

Huff. Puff.

The goblin was panting while his eyes were looking straight at Dawn.

"W-who are you?"

The goblin asked.

"Are you the village chief?"

"That's right. I said that no goblins could enter here. Why did you disobey my order...?!"

When Vadu saw Dawn's form, he instantly realized that it was an outsider.

Dawn then bent his knees and whispered while looking down at Vadu.

"Give me your village."

"W-what?"

"You're dying already; what's the point of continuing? I can help you cross to the afterlife."

"S-so you saw my state..."

Dawn nodded his head, and then he stood up. If his opponent would be this weak, Dawn didn't plan to waste time on him.

"What's your answer?"

"Alright, I give my village to you."

"Good decision. Stand up, announce it to your men."

Dawn turned around after he said those words. Vadu, too, stood up weakly. He staggered slightly before getting his grip.

Vadu looked at Dawn, who was walking towards the entrance of his home.

It was then.

The weak Vadu now had the corners of his mouth hanging by his ears.

His face was of a predator, and when he successfully approached Dawn, he pounced on him as if he was a hungry beast!

"Die, you intruder!"

Crack.

'Eh?' Vadu thought as his vision kept falling to the ground. When he looked up, he saw Dawn's left arm striking something like a clap of thunder and a headless body.

Thud!

It was Vadu's body.
