Harry Potter and the Attack of the Squibs

Chapter 36 Under the Mistletoe

Even at this time, there were still some people who did not show up. They hid in the shadows while everyone was celebrating. For example, Snape never appeared in the hall.

But in addition, some people left the hall, just to get a little time alone.

Harry felt that it was a little too hot in the hall, so he turned around and asked Hermione, "Would you like to go out for some fresh air?"

Hermione was stunned for a moment, and she glanced at the crowd not far away. Everyone there was enjoying the fun, and no one saw them at all.

Hermione nodded.

Harry then stood up with a smile and the two of them walked outside.

There is a snowy field outside the castle, but it is not cold here. It is obvious that a power that can control the entire Hogwarts has cast a powerful spell, causing the temperature to rise in a large area outside the castle, but it is not cold. Let the snow melt.

In the middle of the snow was a rose garden, and behind it was a cave filled with glitter. It was obvious that at least a thousand fairies lived there.

The center of the garden is a fountain, and from there outwards are low shrubs, winding paths and huge statues. The entire garden looks like a secret in a fairy tale.

Harry and Hermione walked among the bushes, smiling at the contrast between the outside and inside of the garden, as if the magic of spring had blocked out winter.

"This is the most amazing Christmas I've ever seen."

Harry sighed quietly.

Hermione smiled silently beside him.

Hermione's face was a little red, as if she was too excited to dance in the hall.

As the two walked through the rose bushes, Harry suddenly heard a familiar voice.

That's Snape.

"No need to make a fuss, Igor!"

Then another voice that Harry recognized responded with panic: "How could you be so indifferent, Severus! I'm very worried now, it's become more and more obvious in the past few months..."

"Then run away and I will explain it to you, but I want to stay at Hogwarts."

After Snape finished speaking, he turned around and walked over. He waved his wand to separate the rose bushes on one side.

With panicked shouts, a boy and a girl rushed out.

Snape watched them run away with a gloomy expression, and then strode forward. Around the corner, he suddenly noticed Harry and Hermione.

"Good evening, Professor."

Harry smiled at Snape.

There was no smile on his face and he was very nervous. Since Snape didn't visit him once during the last summer vacation, Harry began to doubt whether their friendship still existed. In Potions class this term, Snape Pugh never said a word to Harry alone.

Snape looked at Harry gloomily, and Karkaroff beside him looked very embarrassed when he saw Harry and Hermione.

The embarrassment went beyond what it should have been and made Harry feel a bit like fear.

Snape looked at Harry, the expression on his face slowly changing.

It was very subtle, and Hermione held Harry's right hand with a little fear.

In the end, Snape just shook his head: "If you are looking for peace and quiet, then this is not a suitable place. There are too many people in the garden tonight."

Harry was a little confused, but Snape had turned around.

But when Snape turned around, he suddenly stopped and looked at Harry.

"Merry Chrismas."

Harry smiled: "Merry Christmas..."

But he was embarrassed to see Snape turn around and leave without looking back.

Hermione looked at Harry a little worriedly, and Harry just sighed: "He can't forgive me, after all, he hates my father."

Hermione shook her head, unable to say anything comforting in the end.

They continued to walk among the rose bushes together, not for any purpose at all. It was like a fairy tale world, and they just wanted to see more places.

But just like Snape said, they would meet a lot of people tonight.

They bumped into Hagrid.

"As soon as I saw you, I understood..."

It was very difficult for Hagrid to hide his figure, and the same was true for Madame Maxime standing in front of him.

Harry hesitated and wanted to turn away. He felt that he should respect Hagrid's privacy.

But at this moment, Hermione quickly pulled him and hid behind a huge stag statue.

Harry turned around and glanced blankly, and saw Fleur coming from the side path.

Harry looked at Hermione a little strangely, not knowing why she was afraid of being seen, but he didn't say anything, and just stayed beside Hermione.

In their ears, Hagrid's voice continued.

Hagrid mentioned his mother, and to Harry's great surprise, Hagrid admitted that he was the son of a giant and a human.

And when Hagrid asked Madame Maxime if she was the same, Madame Maxime left angrily.

Hagrid stood there and glanced at Madame Maxime, then turned and walked into the darkness.

That was away from the castle, in the direction of his cabin on the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

Harry poked his head out from behind the statue, now they could leave without anyone noticing.

But Harry found Hermione staying where she was, with a serious look on her face.

"What's wrong?"

Hermione glanced at Harry, she hesitated, then shook her head: "Nothing."

Harry suddenly understood something: "What does the book say?"

Hermione smiled and shook her head: "The book says Hagrid is dangerous and bad."

Harry smiled: "You really know how to joke."

Then they walked together to the other side of the garden.

Like a miracle, they saw a corner on the road where no one was around.

There was the edge of the garden, with mistletoe hanging from a big tree, and here was the edge of the lights.

Harry stopped here.

Like fate, he knew exactly what he should do.

And Hermione also stopped with tacit understanding.

The two stood together under the mistletoe.

Then Harry Potter and Hermione Granger understood for the first time in their lives what it meant to fall in love.

When they returned to the hall, the dance was still going on.

It wasn't until twelve o'clock in the night that the Weird Sisters stopped playing. Everyone was still unfinished, but the dance was finally over.

Everyone left the hall and headed towards the common room. On the stairs, Harry suddenly heard someone calling him.

That's Cedric.

His dance partner was waiting for him at the bottom of the stairs, and Cedric walked up to Harry, glanced at Hermione, and pulled Harry aside.

"You told me about the fire dragon. I owe you a favor. Do you know what is in that golden egg?"

Harry shook his head blankly.

"Go take a bath, take the golden egg with you, and think while you bathe."
