I had a wish.

I wanted to be an adventurer and live free as one myself.

But the adventurer also thought it would never be an easy run.

If you try it in a half-baked way, you'll lose your life soon.

So I tried.

While recognizing that it would only survive as an adventurer, to increase its probability, I was nevertheless going to do everything I could.

How did that...

How did this happen?

"Huh? You're gonna be an adventurer?... Are you insane?

Not long before I graduated from the School of Magic (Wizards Academy).

I was in the cafeteria of the college talking to a friend about the way forward, and the friend frightened me.

I'll ask him back.

"Oh.... is it still weird?

"No, that's right... If it was your grades, you'd see better than a college professor or a court magician. What an adventurer. A fallen one at the academy is on the way, huh?

"Hmm... my parents told me the same thing"

"I guess."

According to the valves of its friends and parents, those who graduate from the College with high grades usually aspire to be stable, high-paying college professors, court magicians, etc., in the future.

But I wasn't very attracted to those professions.

Even though high incomes were promised, I felt that the way of life tied to college and country wasn't for me at least.

Besides, I've worked so hard to live as an adventurer.

It was my idea that if it was "normal" or somehow off the road, it would be a real fall.

"I told my parents that I would pay back my college tuition and previous living expenses with interest sooner or later, but I wasn't convinced"

I am also certain that my parents owe me money to pay for my tuition and living expenses while I'm in school.

I enrolled in college at the age of thirteen and will be seventeen this year.

Generally, when you are fifteen, you are an adult, and it is natural for you to work and earn your own food in the future.

I know I have a lot of responsibility for having my college inexpensive tuition paid for, and yet also getting a two-year respite.

But my friend, listening to my words, shakes his head in pity.

"That's not the problem, is it?

"Oh.... you can read my parents mind?

"At least not more than you. So, what happened if you weren't convinced?

My friend asks while eating the salad snuggly.

"They say it's an allowance. I'll take care of him till graduation, but he told me to lay the house down again if I was going to be an adventurer."

"Hmm, that's a reasoned measure with a lot of enthusiasm instead of an allowance. So what about you?

"I said no. I told him I had no choice but to admit to spanning the lair at least once if I were to ask him to forgive me. Otherwise, I won't be able to repay the favor my parents gave me."

"... as usual, there's something called a human being blowing up somewhere, you are"

"I don't mean to."

─ and a few months after such conversation.

I had the warmth of my parents, and I was going to graduate from college safely.

Title on graduation, chief.

It was my perception that I had the pride of making an effort for a purpose, but it wasn't that big of a deal.

The interpretation does not involve practice in the field; it is a result of magic tests in the classroom and in the laboratory.

I still think it's suspicious how common this ability to cultivate is in the world of actual adventurers.

─ ─ Either way, from here on out is a world where only strength says things.

No matter how high your grades are, that doesn't mean anything.

Adventurer.

I finally took my first step into the world.

In the Adventurers Guild in the magic city of Lectre, where the College is located, as a friend said, a large number of defectors of the College act as adventurers.

There will not be much demand for magicians even if they operate in such a place.

That's what I thought. I left Lectre, the magic city, for a moment, and headed to Atlantia, a city that had been rocked for about a week by a boarding carriage.

Urban Atlatia is a very common medium-sized city with no particular philosophy.

It developed as well as industry and commerce, and the Adventurer Guild was similarly on the scale there.

As I enter Atlantia, I quickly head to the Adventurers Guild and creep through its entrance.

"The Adventurer Registration Focal Point... Hmm, is that it"

I looked through the entire guild and found a point of contact like that, so I headed there.

There was a counter there, and there was one young female employee on the other side doing some writing.

When I was a female employee, was it as good as me?

She noticed it and looked up when I went to the window.

"Hello, are you new here?

I've heard it with a full smile.

It's quite appealing, even if you know it's a sales smile.

But I didn't come here to find a lover.

"Oh. I want to register as an adventurer"

"Yes, I did. Then please fill in your name and age, race, place of birth, etc. If you can't write, I'll speak for you if you say so."

That's what she said, she's given me a piece of prepared parchment in the fill out section, plus a pen and ink.

"I'm fine. I can write letters."

"Right.... Excuse me, but if you're a magician (Mage), right?

She takes a serious look at me from bottom to top and asks me that.

What I'm wearing is a dark green robe with a twisted wooden wand about the length of my hand.

These are like college uniforms, so it's only natural to think of them as magicians (Maggie) if you look at this.

"Well, that's the place"

"I knew it! And, brother, don't they often say you're handsome?

"I wonder. I've been told many times that if I manage to get hot on the top of that Buddha, I don't know if it's a rhetoric, a criticism, or another intention."

When it comes to my appearance, I recognize it as a perfectly mediocre seventeen-year-old boy.

Somewhat longer, but not particularly fat or thin.

The colour of the hair is usually brown and the colour of the eyes is the same.

The lack of features would be a characteristic to be credited with.

"I finished writing. Is this gonna be okay?

Complete and return the parchment given.

The female staff at the reception took a look at it.

"Yes, filling out the required information is perfect. Just in case, Mr. William Glenford, the race is human, the age is seventeen, and you're from the magic city of Lectre.

I nod to confirm the female employee

The female employee pressed her sentence with a seal at hand.

"Yes, then Mr. William was registered as an Adventurer in this city of Atlantia's Adventurer Guild. Detailed descriptions of adventurer activities are written over there, do you need an oral explanation?

"No, I'll check for myself, I'll be fine"

"Yes, I did. William, who has just become an adventurer, will be an 'F-rank' adventurer. The Adventurer Rank will gradually increase with several successful quests, so keep up the good work for the high ranks."

"Oh, thank you"

I thanked the female staff who dropped me off at the sales smile and walked away from the Adventurer Registration desk.
